About this cottage rental

Located in New Mexico, this attractive cottage for $114 per night is a fantastic choice for your next trip. Take a trip back in time when life was much simpler. There is nothing but silence, the sound of the Rio Hondo River and the rustling of the century old cottonwoods. You can sit by a 100' pond and watch the friendly Mr. Goose and the wild Mallard Ducks or you can set by the River Hondo and watch it make it's way to the Rio Grand. A short walking distance to the other side of the property is the working part of the farm, consisting of Alpacas, Chickens and of course the gentle Great Pyrenees who watch over all. You can learn the history of the Alpaca and visit out studio to see what we do with the Alpaca fiber. We are located on a 13 acre private estate half between Taos and Taos Ski Valley. The cottage has a full kitchen, bathroom with tub shower combo and a living room bedroom combo area. Please visit our other guest house and read the reviews. Listing #304504.

Cannot beat the location by the pond and river. The cottage is fully stocked. Super nice fireplace and comfy bed. Incredibly cozy. Great for a getaway. Owners are so nice and make check in and check out easy. We'll be back.

This was a very charming little house, just the right size for myself and my daughter. The grounds were lovely and it was wonderful to get up and have a cup of coffee by the pond. There are the ducks mentioned, as well as a muskrat that lives somewhere nearby. It was a pleasant experience, to sit and knit and paint on the grass. The owners were kind and gracious, and I got some beautiful alpaca yarn, for a reasonable price. Definitely worth coming back, and will try to get the treehouse next time!

We really enjoyed the peace and quiet of the property - with a few barking dogs who no doubt were warding off the few bears in the neighborhood. The unique Sloping Porch cabin was very comfortable. We hope to return to this oasis for another relaxing stay in the future.

The property is very rural with a dirt/gravel drive, ending in an absolutely beautiful yard, including floral landscaping, trees and a pond with muskrat at play. The adobe was nice and comfortable. The hosts were lovely. We hope to visit again.

Cottage was as advertised and we loved the atmosphere. We enjoyed early am pond watching and beaver antics. The landscaping was gorgeous! Our stay was peaceful and relaxing and we will go back again.

We absolutely loved our stay here! It was so peaceful….you can hear the river rushing by, watch the animals at play and enjoy the beautifully landscaped grounds. It was very comfortable! As other reviewers have said, the pictures don’t do it justice! It’s such a wonderful oasis of peace, yet a short drive into town. Thank you for having us!

We were taken back by the tranquil setting. Our host were so welcoming and helpful. Just to be able to rest in a beautiful place and enjoy the cool air. We also liked the Alpaca, dogs, chickens and critters.

We loved staying at the Sloping Porch! It was perfectly sandwiched between Taos Ski Valley where we skied and the town of Taos + nearby hiking. Very clean and cozy and we enjoyed chatting with Jim and Jim and exploring the property! The alpacas and guard dog were icing on the cake!

Rio Hondo and Sloping Porch is a naturally beautiful property. It is on the road less traveled yet only minutes away from Taos & Ski Valley. The peace and tranquility we felt was a dream come true. We thoroughly enjoyed stay with Jim, Jiun and the Alpacas and were making plans for our next visit before we left! Thank you for the opportunity to stay at your lovely farm.

I had a peaceful retreat at Jun’s farm while being in close proximity to Taos Ski Valley. The cottage was well appointed and very comfortable. The kiva was my favorite feature. This will be my go-to place whenever I’m in Taos!

We had a wonderful time at Jun and Jim’s VRBO. They were welcoming and their place was perfect. We were close to the Taos ski valley. We loved coming back from skiing to a quiet and beautiful location. The Sloping Porch was the perfect place for 2 people. Very clean and everything we needed.
