This was my first experience sleeping in a pod and it was very comfortable. The mattress and pillow provided were good quality with a lot of support. The Goki keyless system was handy and easy to use. I especially liked the location , there was a Metro and bus stop around the corner. The staff was friendly and helpful. Additional lighting at the communal sinks on the floor would be a big help. The showers had good water pressure. A fresh paint job would make the place shine. I'd stay there again.

This is a safe, comfortable, eco-friendly way to stay overnight. It was not noisy. Everyone was respectful and considerate. Very minimal interaction with other guests.

Great staff and service!

it was not bad to short - cheap sleeping for trip.

Very worn look in general, mattress was stained, outlet in my pod was broken. Staff was great though. Won't be going back.

Great place to stay with a great staff

The hostel pod I stayed in felt clean and secure. However, there was no where to park without parking on the street with meters. This meant you had to get up and repay every few hours and it costed many dollars for each day. I was also told that the parking on the street was free after 7PM on Friday through Monday morning. This was not true as I was fined $50 for parking by the hotel on Saturday.

Good to have a place to sleep in DC at this price.

Absolutely love this place! Very comfortable and quiet.

The Capsule Hotel is a facility near everything that serves its purpose with small, yet comfortable beds; however, I think there should be larger lockers and power sockets for charging cellphones and laptops on the capsules or nearby; also, a weak point from its purpose is the lack of social interactions with other guests because of space constrains; it would be much better if there were larger common spaces.
It was a good experience overall, nonetheless; I'd recommend the Hostel so someone else.

I cannot say enough good things about the U Street Hostel! Easy, clean, comfy, convenient, and filled with kindness. Great location with access to multiple restaurants, drug stores, and even a Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods Market. The private rooms are simply a steal of a deal ~ I’m still shocked by the value I received for such a low price. Highly recommend!

Very modern and comfortable pod hostel. Six person bunk style rooms offer a social stay, and the cafe common area gives plenty of options for meeting new and interesting people. The ubiquity of multinational guests means you will find it very difficult to get bored of your room mates. Highly recommended, 5/5 in every category.

This is a very unique spot. It is always clean and smells nice. Once you check in, the front door and your room door can be operated from your phone. So cool. the staff at the cafe were so nice and welcoming. I did not like the bathroom (shower) was all the way in the basement and my room was on the 3rd floor. The bed I slept on was comfortable. I will visit again.

It was great to be able to take a shower anytime and to have a cafe on the first floor.

The location is very convenient, as a Metro train station is at end of street. Nearby Howard University with many restaurants nearby. I enjoyed the privacy of the pods vs. traditional hostel bunks. Showers are in basement but have toilets and sinks on dorm floor. Not soundproof and needs better ventilation.
USB charging ports didn’t work and I recommend the hostel to add mattress protection as mattress showed old stains when I removed linen. Overall, a good stay for just needing somewhere to sleep for a night.

Easy self check-in and check-out with clear instructions provided. Very convenient location (2 minute's walk to a Metro station) and has good grocery shopping/dining options around. Clean and comfortable space. The only thing was that maybe because it's an old building so the soundproof isn't great. I could hear people walking upstairs or talking in the kitchen when I was in my room.

It was great for my needs. It is right next to the train station which made it very easy to get around. There were also plenty of places to get food and drink nearby. If you are going to a concert at the 9:30 club, it is a great place to stay as it is a 10 minute walk at most. It is in many ways better than a standard hostel in that the capsule does give you some additional privacy. My expectations were more than met.

The U St. Hostel is a lovely place for those on a budget. It's right next to the metro and a bus stop, so it's very convenient to travel pretty much anywhere in DC. Folks adhered to the posted quiet hours very well, and facilities were clean. It takes a little getting used to if you have only ever stayed in private rooms, but the capsules make getting used to a shared room much easier. All facilities were always accessible, I never had to wait to use the bathroom, sinks, or showers. The staff are also very friendly, kind, and responsive to requests for help through their property's mobile app. I'll be back again if I need a spot in DC!

First, I did not care for the high tech set up for entering the hostel or my room. It caused me a problem when my phone died on my evening walk and were it not for the night porter handing me his battery charger through the door (would not let me enter without using phone on door lock) until I could get enough charge to open door. What would I have done if he wasn't on duty to assist me?
Some guest had learned how to override the locked thermostat and constantly lowered the temp to 69 degrees, even after staff raised the temp. That's not eco friendly and I was freezing.
The pod is a new experience for me and while I liked it overall, entering and especially exiting it from the end was difficult. Would have been great from the side.
Staff were great and very accommodating and even with construction going on, rooms, showers and common areas were very clean.
Instructions for locks, especially the lockers, were too abbreviated. There were steps missing that I had to learn from staff and experience.

Super affordable and offered everything I needed in an extended stay work visit. Clean, walkable to most of the venues I needed to be at. But would love to have a closet or long locker to hang my clothes in. The controllers in my capsule didn't work so I didn't have air conditioning nor could my phone charge when the pod was turned off so I could sleep. Lockers are too small to keep a laptop secure. Coffee and empanadas at the 1st floor cafe are amazing! Staff goes way out of their way to make sure everyone is happy and safe. Super cordial. The showers creeped me out at first because they're in the basement but quickly realized they're pretty awesome, spacious and super clean -- but wear flip flops just in case. If you're staying in DC for a week or more, no family and no frills, this is the place to be... but it has some good frills. :) Oh and free beer Friday was awesome!

Really great stay! Beds were comfortable, staff were friendly. A tip: if you don’t book directly through their website, I’d recommend reaching out to them before you arrive to get the door code. Otherwise checking in could be difficult. But someone was there to let me in and everyone was helpful! Would stay again.

No staff during the entire time I was on property. No power outlets in the “capsule” bunks, just two USB chargers, of which neither worked. Thankfully my phone still had 3% battery left (after “charging” all night) when my alarm went off so I could catch my early morning train out of town. Ventilation system in my “capsule” was broken. Issues reported via the chat feature, no staff follow up whatsoever. No physical front desk, meaning no staff to handle issues, such as Hotels.com not relaying my email properly to the hostel to allow for a smooth self-check in.
I’ll absolutely be skipping this hostel during future visits to DC and have talked multiple friends out of staying there during their upcoming visits.

Great for solo travelers. Only complaint is that the lack of a kitchen forces you to eat out or order all your meals, which can get pricey in a city like DC.
Otherwise, excellent location and rooms. Will stay again for sure!

Overall our stay was nice and happy. The sheets and blankets were a little old and I felt like they could be in a better condition. The staff were nice and helpful. Big plus to the location. 1min walk to the M.

There's so much to do and so many places within walking distance. The rooms at the hostel are quiet, clean and easy to come and go. Checking in is no problem at all. Everyone I met is very helpful. It's a fun place to stay. Never boring and the coffee is perfect. Great location in a safe area. There's Lockers in each room that are electronic. Accessible very clean bathrooms very private. My room had a nice little balcony. There's a pizza place right behind the hostel. The Metro is right behind the hostel. Uber will pick you up right out front. The staff is very kind. There's many spots to use your laptop. You can come and go late at night. There's lime scooters and lime bikes.

I tried to check in but no one would let us in when I showed one of the guys there my reservation and my baby mother and myself stayed outside for that night which was very cold that night

The best of both worlds, friendly, kind, service, group, setting, that is always a Hostel and the added benefit of privacy in your pod when you need it.
