We had a studio cabin and it would’ve been just fine if there had just been a bit more storage or shelving units to set things on. Kitchen was very small but barbecue outside helped a lot. Area was so pretty and you could go on some real scenic walks. Staff was excellent

We thought we were gonna be in a single cabin to ourselves. We were in a room like a motel. The lake was beautiful. The place was dirty and kitchen as well as out dated. The people were friendly.

Definitely would not recommend this property. Arrived around 8 pm and my room key was just taped to the door of the office where anyone could have taken it. The shower leaked so bad it shot onto the ceiling and then the water from the ceiling dripped down onto you. It smelled stale, damp, and musty inside the room. There was a bug in the bed. The mattress was old, squeaky, and uncomfortable. The pillows were flat. The room furniture stepped straight out of the 70's. The laundry area was open from 8 am to 8 pm. I needed this anemity as I was traveling and it was one of the few reasons I booked the location. Unfortunately, it wasn't open at 8, or at 9. I finally found and employee and they said only maintenance had the key and it would be a "couple hours" before they would be back to open it. On checkout, the receptionist was very condescending regarding my booking through Expedia. Overall, it was a terrible location and experience that I would not book again. I was too worried about the possibility of bed bugs and crackheads to actually enjoy my downtime in the evenings, instead sleeping with my loaded gun by my bedside and triple checking the locks.

We stayed here for a wedding weekend and it exceeded over expectations. The rooms are really nice. Everything was really nice the housekeepers and staff were great. just all-around a great experience. We will definitely be back.

Great location. Wooded area, the room faced a park with a lake. Friendly staff, easy access to restaurants and groceries, and local attractions, like Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, Deadwood, Sturgis. And a clean Laundry Room on site.

Loved this place. The property was quiet and loved the lake and paddle boats. It was convenient to mt rushmoore, custer state park. They also offered muffins, juice, yogurt, snac bars for breakfast. Will come back again!

Lacking telephone, clock, hair dryer, and bathroom exhaust fan, working security lock on the door. Everything else was very good and a spectacular view of the lake, Surrounding area was very well kept with benches, picnic tables and grills. Beautiful setting!

This is a motel not a hotel or resort. I wouldn’t have booked it if I knew it wasn’t a hotel. The staff was pleasant and helpful. But I would not stay here again as it did not meet lodging criteria for me.

We stumbled across this place on our travels, and couldn't have been more pleased. There was one cabin available, next to the office, and next to the reunion tent, so we expected noise, but even with plenty of people around, it was quiet. Cabin was clean and very comfortable. We took paddle boat out in evening and enjoyed the water and all the birds. Staff was very helpful and friendly. We will definitely stay again, and would highly recommend!

We stayed in the cutest tiny cabin with our own front porch with a table and chairs and our own grill. The room was small but it had everything, kitchen table, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, stove top, dishes. A great shower and tub. The bed was comfortable and the cable tv channels were too many to count. The people in the office were super friendly and accommodating. We were only staying for one night but would have loved a week.

We liked the view of the lake and the bbqs outside as well as the ability to make meals inside. We didn’t like that the room smelled musty.

Canyon Lake Resort was a great place to stay while exploring the Rapid City area. Our cabin was well-equipped and comfortable. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. It’s not elegant, but it worked for us, and the birds were an added bonus!

Staying at Canyon Lake Resort during a trip in November met my needs exactly. The room was clean and quiet, and the staff were helpful and friendly. It is also a beautiful and unique location, situated within sight and walking distance of walking trails, the lake, and a park, all of which gave an added bonus of wildlife viewing opportunities! I would absolutely stay here again.
