About this house rental
Located in Outer Banks, this lovely house for $366 per night is a great option for your next trip. SEMI-SOUNDFRONT Salvo - Turtle Ct. Your family will fall in love with CALYPSO, a beautiful home with community sound access. The first level has two bedrooms, one queen and one with a pyramid bunk that share a hall bath - both with TVs. Also on this level is a large game room with pool table, TV/DVD, stereo/CD, and wet bar with refrigerator. Step out to the deck and patio with your private swimming pool and hot tub. There is also a laundry room on this level. The mid level has four bedrooms, all with TVs, and access to decks and porches with gorgeous sound views. The king room and one queen room are masters, and the second queen room and twin room share a hall bath. Upstairs the large, open great room welcomes you with sound view and TV/DVD stereo system. The dining area has lots of windows to frame splendid Pamlico Sound views. The great room and dining areas open to decks and a covered porch. The well-equipped kitchen has plenty of counter space and opens to another covered porch and deck. You'll also find another king master suite with TV on this level. CALYPSO will hold your heart captive and you’ll yearn to return year after year. (Fireplace seen in pictures is not available for guest use.) Dogs are welcome for a fee of $200/dog/week. If you are bringing a dog on your trip, the $200 weekly fee will apply for each dog and will be added once your reservation is finalized. This property is managed by Surf or Sound Realty. More payment options available after booking. Vacation Rental Protection Plan: This required non-refundable $95 plan covers accidental damage within the home with a coverage limit of $3,000. It does not cover theft or willful misconduct. You must notify Surf or Sound Realty of any damage that occurs during your occupancy or this coverage will be void. Coverage is effective at time of check-in and ends at time of check-out. The views were great and we loved the pool & the amount of space! The cleanliness could be better, the vents need to be cleaned and the couch is kinda gross honestly.
With such a big house we really were disappointed with the tiny park sized charcoal grill with no cover, plan on starting it early if you want dinner to be done at a decent time.
The first level is kind of hard to enjoy with kids at night as they’re right above (or on the same level) as the pool table and it gets loud (just something to consider) with no door to close from that level to the next, but it was nice to have the extra fridge downstairs and we all really enjoyed these extras in the house.
The kitchen was stocked well with plates/cups/silverware/cooking utensils and the double dishwasher was perfect!
The neighborhood was close enough to stores to get items we needed, you could even bike! The neighborhood was peaceful and quiet. Great for bike rides and the sunsets over the sound were incredible.
This isn’t the most updated property (bedding, furniture) but it was the right amount of space we needed together for our two families (9). There truthfully could have been a little more attention to detail, but at OBX the waves and rays are what we come for!

Fun house
We enjoyed our stay overall. Only couple things would have made it perfect, the nails popped up around the pool and porches were safety concern. Comfort the mattresses could use an upgrade.

Great family rental
The house was perfect for our family of 4 children, 4 in-laws and 3 grand babies. There was plenty of room for visiting and staying “socially isolated” since our vacay was in the middle of the pandemic. It allowed us to be together while providing us enough space to spend time alone. The kitchen was the best stocked kitchen of any house I’ve ever rented. The pool was a nice amenity since we had 3 u dear the age of 2. I would recommend this rental to anyone looking for a large home. The only complaint I have is that the house cleaning was not that great. Walls and blinds in the kitchen/dining area looked like they hadn’t been wiped down in some time. The upstairs master had dust standing on bed frame and cobwebs covering one wall. Other than the less than spectacular cleaning, I still would recommend.

We found out 5 or 6 days before our trip, that the island would be reopening to visitors amidst this pandemic and against our states, and their own states stay at home orders. Even though we had been messaging trying to reschedule the trip because of the pandemic for weeks, they told us they were doing it on a week by week basis, and once the announcement was made, VRBO, and Surf or Sound would not answer our calls to try and cancel or anything, so we felt forced against our will to go on this trip or just loose our money.
Upon arrival, the house was a stark disappointment after looking at all of the beautiful pictures of the house. We thought we had paid for early check in, but of course neither company would respond to messages to let us know what time, and the app only showed normal check in time, as well as incorrect price breakdowns on our trip. Our first night in this house, we arrived to a funky smell of stank beach water and butthole, that I guess was from the house sitting empty for two months due to the pandemic. The main & 2nd levels of the house were scorching hot, but the third floor was icy cold. We realized the heat was still turned on the second level so switched it over to AC and waited. To our demise, hours passed by and the lower levels remained scorching hot. We called the number several times and eventually got on to someone that was able to contact the maintenance guy, and he brought four window units to cool the house down the next morning. A tropical storm hit the second day, so the window units were pointless by then. But other than that the house was generally broke in. Several doorway frames were dry rotting and falling apart, bathrooms had moldy rotten smell in them and one of them looked like a leak in the roof have recently been repaired. Some of the vents in the house had buildup of some kinda black substance, and the furniture all smelled stale, and of sweaty man I guess from years of use. The emails said they were taking extra cleaning steps, but the house smelled fresher and cleaner after we’d been in it cleaning the stank out for several days. We had to bring our own food on the island because the stores weren’t prepared for the increase from local traffic to tourism. The trip was so disappointing with The only things open being 30 minutes down or up the island, and the weather was so horrible we left halfway through the week. I will never book with VRBO, or surf or sound, even if it was FREE!!!

It needs upgrading , beds are terrible we left early because so uncomfortable. the fans and walls full of dust and the beds had dirty sheets and pillowcases on them still had hair and dirt on them from previous reventers . To the positive the location is good checkin good I will stay in the area again just not that house
