About this bed and breakfast
Located in Mississippi, this charming bed and breakfast for $110 per night is a great choice for your next vacation. Apartment size Guest House, perfect for 2 guests. Near Dauphin Island beaches. Seafood Store located on same property for fresh shrimp, crab and oysters. Quiet, peaceful, and very relaxing. Nice getaway! Backyard deck for morning coffee. Located on Fowl River. Full kitchen with dishes, pots and pans, crock pot, deep fryer, electric coffee maker, microwave, toaster. One bedroom with a queen size bed and one bathroom with shower, vanity, etc We also have a futon in the living room that opens to a full size bed with extra bedding. Walking, bicycling, kayaking on the river (bring your own kayak)! A public fishing pier is near, as well as the Beaches of Dauphin Island. Cow pasture on the drive in. Kids love it. Occasionally a deer is seen crossing the road. And even an alligator near the curve. 😉 Local Dollar General store and gas station close by.

The family was very nice we rented from

My husband, five yr old son and myself drove in from St. Louis for Labor Day Weekend. The property is beautiful and right on the water. It’s very quiet at night and in the morning. We visited Dauphin Island’s West End Beach twice which is only about 20 min away (no parking fee), and the USS Alabama in Mobile which is about 25 min North.
FYI Dauphin Island closes up pretty much by 8, so plan your dinner ahead of time. The mainland side of West End Beach has much quieter waves, and black sand.
Our 5 yr old son could have spent all day at the USS Alabama exploring. He loved it just as much as the beach.
We had everything we needed at The Shed with a gracious and easily accessible host. Thank you for a lovely extended Weekend!

Close to Daulphin Island, Bayou La Batre, and other destinations along the Alabama & Miss coastal areas. And excellent seafood locations and eating places. Quiet, peaceful and a beautiful place away from the congested places. Really enjoyed and highly recommend it! Will probably plan a trip back and bring my boat.

We were looking for a basic clean and quiet spot for a short and affordable anniversary getaway on or close to Dauphin Island and this fit the bill perfectly! When I read the description I got excited that is was close to the river AND the island. The prospect of getting to see a ‘gator was exciting but alas we didn’t. Maybe next time! :)
There was plenty of room, it was cool enough, anything we needed in the kitchen if we wanted to stop at Greer’s or get seafood from Zirlott’s and cook, and was clean and had plenty of towels.
We enjoyed the food selections nearby and the hosts were very pleasant when we spoke. Just a perfect stay!

This was our first beach vacation to Dauphin Island. We were about 10 minutes and an easy drive to the beach! The shed is super adorable and spacious! Beds were comfy and everything was there that we needed for the whole week! The river runs behind it and there’s a seafood store - we are obsessed with the fresh shrimp & crab quiche! It was the perfect trip! We will be back next year for sure!!

Great people, great seafood, and great stay
Our stay at “The Shed” had more to offer than I can put into words. The Zirlott’s were so accommodating and such down to earth sweet people! We had the best oysters of our life right from their dock along with an insanely delicious crab quiche. Let’s just say if I had a bigger cooler I would’ve bought every last shrimp, oyster, crab quiche and container of gumbo they had there. The Shed it’s self was very comfortable and had everything we needed to have a great time relaxing right there on the property. All and all this trip is worth every single penny and if are looking at this property and considering booking it you won’t regret it. Again if you’re anything like me and love great people, great food and great conversations the Zirlott’s and this shed offer everything you need in life! Better hurry though my wife and I are already looking for the next slots available to book our next trip there.

The Shed is a charming hidden gem located on Fowl River. It is a short drive to Dauphin Island. Patricia was warm and welcoming as always. Don't forget to buy some fresh seafood from the Zirlott's before you leave.

This was my first Vrbo experience so didn’t know what to expect. It certainly met our needs as a drop point as we explored the Mobile/Gulf Shores area. A very short distance to Dauphine Island and an hour and a half up through Mobile to Gulf Shores.

Special, unique vacation experience
What a beautiful setting! We loved being close to Dauphin Island beaches (short drive away) yet staying in a location that was special in itself! We had privacy, yet felt so safe. Heard an owl and birds, enjoyed the night chirps (likely little 'peepers'- small green frogs.) We learned about the fishing industry, history. Host family available to answer questions and supply material about the area, specific history (even local recipes!). The food you can purchase from the seafood store (walking distance, but not close enough to be a concern) is delicious! We bought frozen packages to enjoy at home! Such a TREAT! We also recommend Dinner's Ready (you can buy frozen foods to cook in the vrbo but we enjoyed soup and sandwiches on site!). The Audubon Bird Sanctuary is a feast for the eyes! So much to see and enjoy there. The trails are easy to navigate, well maintained. The views are more spectacular than you might imagine- like being on a different continent! Bellingrath Gardens was a complete delight for all ages and a perfect place for family photos!
