We welcome you to stay with us in our completely re-modeled house that is situated in the Uncompahgre valley surrounded by the San Juan Mountain range, the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, and the Grand Mesa. Our temperate weather and year-round sunshine lends itself to outdoor recreation at its finest. There are three ski areas each within 1 1/2 hrs. drive, premier hunting and fishing, bike trails, a river sports park for the adventurous, and a beautiful new Recreation Center with pools/slides, a climbing wall, game and weight rooms, a large gymnasium and racquetball courts-something for everyone! There are also three golf courses in town, a library, museums, a movie theaters, several venues for live music, and shopping in our historic downtown and also south of town. There are numerous fine restaurants in town; but, if you want to relax after a full day of adventures, you can stay home and prepare dinner in our well-equipped kitchen, reading a book from the bookshelves or watching a movie. *An additional charge will be requested by us after your booking for the city & lodging sales tax of 3.39%; VRBO only collects state sales tax of 4.65%

Great location in the heart of Montrose. Very clean and orderly house. Large family room for our young son to play in. All amenities are close by.

As I told the owner, we left after a very short time, maybe an hour. The neighborhood was suspect. The house next door had a driveway and lawn full of parts motorcycles and just general junk. There were other neighbors that were yelling at each other. When going inside we noticed a musty smell, looked for the back yard in the pictures and found we had to go through the garage to get to it. We saw the beds and even the larger of the two was too small for us. Again I don’t think the pictures are representative of the property. There are no views of the mountains even though they were heavily favored in the pictures. I don’t usually give negative reviews so I feel bad about this but after reaching out to the owner with my concerns and that we left, instead of apologizing and maybe offering a partial refund I only received a response basically telling me my eyes were lying to me and not the pictures that were in the advertisement. The pictures are not representative of the property.

Nice place to come and go for our daughter’s wedding. Comfy beds and nice big living room. Wish could have have stayed longer to enjoy more of the area.

Our group consisted of 2 couples and we were on a 10 day vacation working our way through Colorado. We stayed 2 nights at Barbara's place and were very happy with our stay. It is an older home but remodeled beautifully. We were very comfortable and pleased. We would strongly recommend. Thank you.

Nice. Clean. Enough room to move around. We enjoyed breakfast every morning. Their hints on how to keep the house cool were helpful. If in the Montrose area again, would consider staying again.

This home was the perfect spot for our adventure to Black Rock of the Gunnison. It was also close to downtown restaurants and a large well stocked grocery store. Worked out well for me and my family.

My family spent 3 nights in the purple door house and it was a very nice place to stay while we attended a family reunion.

We enjoyed our short stay. The location was great and let us take advantage of vising the Black Canyon at night to see the stars come out.
We couldn't get the grill to work but were otherwise really happy with the property.

Lovely and impeccable property with all the amenities. We were there fir a hiking trip In Ouray. Easy drive to Ouray and Ridgeway.

They place wasn’t clean. It has an odd musty smell. Someone had gone number 2 in the toilet at sometime prior to our arrival and that’s what we were created with when we went to use the restroom. Just not clean. Splatters of old food in the wall behind the kitchen sink. Every lamp had a burned out bulb and I could go on.

Had a great time riding motorcycles in the area - Black Canyon and Million Dollar Highway. Property is in a central location and met all of our needs. We had a little hiccup with property but it was resolved quickly.

Easy to find and close to downtown Montrose and grocery stores. 3 BR and 2 baths, laundry room, dining room, and a garage. The property manager (and/or owner) has placed a lot of pamphlets on local area museums, hiking, natural/organic farms and markets, and other local maps/guides/attractions in the dining room and living room, which we found very useful. Definitely recommend the Museum of the Mountain West. Regarding the garage: It was useful for bringing gear, luggage, and food into the house, but the low overhead of the garage door opening will limit parking to small and midsize passenger cars only.
Message to Property Management: We love to recycle, but found we could not. Previous occupants and/or cleaning crew had stuffed the recycle trash can full of regular trash.

What a beautiful house, we were fly fishing the black canyon and this beautiful house was the perfect place to rest after a long fay on the water. Impeccably furnished and comfortable beds. Wish we could’ve stayed a few more days. Highly recommend !! Thanks Capt Morris Campbell, Boca Grande, Fl

There was so much space inside; it would be perfect for a larger group. But we loved it. Laundry room was very welcome after traveling several days! Kitchen was VERY well equipped and i prefer a big coffeemaker which they had. Owner was great, features were spelled out in a helpful book, and a sign in book we read only had great comments too. If you're going to Montrose, this house is THE place to stay. Oh and beds were comfy, bathrooms were super nice and the layout of this house is great.

We enjoyed the house very much. Reminded me of my Grandmother's house as in older neighborhood. The house had everything you would want or needed at your finger tips. It was clean, warm, comfortable and quiet. We would stay here again if back that way someday! Thank you for a great experience!

Rented for a gals weekend and was so happy to find the purple door house! A very quiet neighborhood not too far from anything you may need, and a half hour from the National Park, not to mention easy access to many other outdoor spaces. Thanks!

We were so pleased with this charming home…the living room was comfortable with lovely pictures….the dining room a real plus and the kitchen had everything we needed. We all enjoyed the porch swing . Barb pleasant and very available!!

The purple cottage was incredibly clean and comfortable. Barbara was very responsive and helpful when we had questions. The house is close to a busy thoroughfare where many stores and restaurants are located.

The purple door cottage was beautiful from the moment we pulled up. The large green lawn and trees in front were very nice. The house had lots of space and had the things we needed in the kitchen. The neighborhood was very quiet.
