Terrible

When I got there my bed wasn't made so I put down my three bags and went to breakfast. When I return my bag with all my clothes in it was gone! I informed the front desk and they told me they didn't know how many bags we came in with. I asked them to check the camera and they will see me checking in with the three bags. And if someone went into the room they would see who took my things. Then they told me their camera was stuck and would be fixed by morning. Morning came and still the camera was stuck. I could look on the screen and see every angle was moving not stuck. This was a nightmare for me cos I am homeless and only wanted a room for a couple of nights until by bed came through. I will never stay here again. On top of that nobody clean the room on the weekend.!!!;

It’s horrible

The dirtiest place I have ever seen. It's horrible. I rented a room with a separate bathroom, but there is such sanitation that I disdain to wash. don't rent a room there.

Not worth it - find somewhere else slightly outside the city centre.

Absolutely nothing good to report.

I had originally booked for two nights. After the first night however, I checked out not wanting to ever return. If I hadn’t arrived so late, I would’ve found alternative accomodation on the first night too. Disgusting place. The photos and descriptions on Google and bookings.com are old and inaccurate. The room was dirty and the sheets were stained. Showers (there is only 2 on each floor for approximately 20 rooms per floor. I could also only find 2 toilets on my floor - you do the maths) were dirty - hair, discarded products and rubbish in the toilets as well. The whole place smelled dank and the carpet throughout was filthy. Another occupant had a domestic at approximately 11:30pm and proceeded to bang on their door and scream for around 20 minutes. Owners did nothing despite advertising a 9pm noise curfew. I was overcharged and they couldn’t have been less helpful about the parking situation. Left next morning less than 7 hours after checking in… couldn’t have done another hour in the place. This area of San Francisco was also dirty and there were unsavoury types loitering outside the property.

perfectly located

it was grim inside. the under sheet in the bed was heavily stained. It was noisy lots of noise inside. On the plus side room 41 has own shower room and very hot water. It was cheap and you get what you pay for. city centre San Francisco. it was just above a hostel though. not a hotel as I know a hotel to be. I’ve been over Generous with my scores

the potential

shower curtains in room 40 most all of the shower rooms are in poor mis repair , not enough wall outlets or extensions, the tv don’t work , and heat is hard to come by.

If you park in front of this hotel, someone will probably break your window and take your things.

bed was not clean, car broken into our front of hotel and robbed (likely will happen to anyone who parks out front), no towels, cold

Passable

Bed was comfortable. Location for my travel need. I would stay there again.

The room smelled like an ashtray, burn marks on the top of the refrigerator. TV didn't work they came and fixed it and 1 hour later it flipped off and I didn't go back down and get the staff.

The worst hotel I have ever been to, barely a hostel.

Low fares, and a somewhat good place to sleep for a few days. Staff is friendly.

The good thing about the place is that it is cheap and situated in the center of the city. However, tourists, be advised that the downtown area is full of homeless people, which at least for us made the area seem to be unsafe. Uber from the airport, do not go with the subway at night.

Place did not feel very clean, the room did not smell good, but it is alright for a few days if you are on a budget

The receptionist was really nice and very helpful. The bed is comfortable. And the wifi works really well !

The room was dirty, the bed sheets were stained. And it doesn't smell good.

Worst and filthy night ever please save yourself

Worst ‘hotel’ I’ve ever stayed, don’t do it, even with the nicest owner and so .

Horrible, scary, and filthy, in frightening neighborhood, sums it up. Think a $5 hotel in Tijuana and add filthy sheets.

Comfortable stay

Great staff, they kindly kept our luggage after the checkout, the hotel was always clean, you can prepare your coffe there, bathrooms were shared but they were clean.

if you are looking for a CLEAN & INEXPENSIVE room with a perfect location in the city, this is absolutely one of the

I have had the opportunity to stay at a variety of different hotels in San Francisco, all around the same price, and same room/shared bath set up, but in different locations and 9/10 it’s the same, expect to hear people screaming all night long, stains on the walls, bedding is used and most likely not laundered, floors are too gross to take off your shoes, it’s hot and musty and can’t open a window without either someone trying to stick their arm through & grabbing at your belongings or someone’s garbage from the room above flying in, and the front desk can’t be bothered they are simply there to get paid. Needless to say, they are “what you pay for” I guess….. BUT Oak Hotel is a breath of fresh air in comparison… You can tell by the way to staff handles issues (for example someone who’s yelling in their room will be warned once and you won’t hear it again or by the way the shared bathrooms get cleaned and restocked several times throughout a 24 hr period, or how your bedding is actually FREE OF STAINS, or you’re not bitten to death by bed bugs, fighting for territory with cockroaches, or with rats for your food — you get the point) that they take pride in their guests they make running a hotel look like a piece of cake.

nothing I can think of that bothered me. its a nice basic room with clean facilities and fully working amenities.
