Be warned, you will not sleep until 2 am because they have a music venue DIRECTLY below the rooms, and, while they provide free earplugs, these don't block out the bass, which vibrates the entire beds, including on weekdays, until 2 am.
It just feels like a greedy business that wants to make money with a music venue AND having dorms right above it. You can't offer a space to sleep where the bass is shaking the bed till 2am every night. I've stayed in plenty of hostels around the world and never encountered such a thing.
In addition, the general treatment of guests felt unfriendly, with long lists of rules and penalties for checking out even one minute late.

The entire staff is incredible and helpful. Howie especially made my stay great! Aime was really helpful on the morning of my departure. Great location, cool building history. Very clean and cool. A/C definitely works great! Best part of my business trip!

I had an excellent experience, the staff was very friendly and accessible, the place was very central, close to many bars and clubs, also very close to the capitol, I highly recommend this place, I would return without thinking twice
Since it's close to streets where nightlife was going on, I was sometimes woken up by noise from outside, but it was little, and it's totally understandable

The hostel has a unique feel to it, the room was lovely and the kitchen cosy and well equipped. Great location and very helpful and friendly staff. And a speakeasy on site too! Exceptional.
Nothing, I loved everything about my stay.
7.0
Great location, cool bar, nice showers
No common areas to meet other guests or hang out & relax other than the bar. They should definitely make the rooftop a chill out zone. Way too expensive for a hostel regardless of location.

There were dead roaches in the cubby for your bags, bathrooms were dirty, and many drug addicts right outside congregating. Did not feel safe. Location is great though. Needs a facelift, police presence outside, and clean rooms.

Great localization in downtown Austin.

Beds were big and comfortable and the curtain provided privacy in the dorm.
The WiFi connection was really unreliable and almost non-existing. The shared kitchen could be better equipped.

Good location. The laundry fee was relatively inexpensive. The female member of staff who let me store my bag after checking out was very helpful. That's about it.
Well, where do I start? The hostel itself has an abandoned shelter ambiance. The toilets are absolutely horrific in terms of the hygiene and cleanliness, as well as the lack of privacy in the actual toilet area (the doors on the toilets are cut out in a 'Western' style; unfortunately, this means that anyone who is remotely tall can easily watch you from behind the door - very sketchy) and showers (the only thing that prevents other people in the bathroom from seeing you completely naked is a flimsy shower curtain that doesn't seem to be long enough to cover the cubicle - you're washing yourself with one hand and guarding your body from the roving eyes of fellow guests with the other!) The floors in the corridors are filthy, and only a scientist will be able to tell you what was growing in the kitchen. The bed was dusty, as though it had aged with the property; the bed light hanged limply from a corner. I was glad to leave this place after only spending the night. I had to will myself into staying ("you're only here for the night, just get through it!").
A lot of homeless people congregate near the vicinity of this property - please be aware of this!
The male staff member who checked me in here was very passive-aggressive; definitely not the best first impression.
Unless you are short of money, I would not recommend this place as somewhere to stay. It's not worth the low cost.

The speakeasy bar was very cool. The kitchen was clean and the beds were comfortable.
One of the toilets on the 2nd floor didn’t work.

I took one star off due to the outside of the building looking REALLY sketch - which can be quite concerning for a solo woman traveler. However, once inside, it was very clean and even though there was a bar with live music in the basement, it was pretty quiet on my floor. Other roomies were very respectful too. The downside to being right off 6th street and close to all the weekend action are the noisy street cleaning trucks at 5am. The upside is I was able to walk everywhere.
1) Could not get hot water to work the first couple days 2) Needed feminine products and there were none, not even for purchase (closest store was closed) 3) No water filter (this would be SUCH an inexpensive and thoughtful thing to add to the kitchen 4) When the coffee was ready, it was the BOMB - but when the coffee was not ready, it was impossible to try to figure out how to use the percolator without instructions

Location was perfect, right in the hearth of the city, bed was comfortable, good space, big storage for you to lock your stuff, big kitchen with lots of appliances.
In my floor 1/2 showers was broken, shower area could be cleaned a bit more, 1/2 bathroom stall broken, staff wasn't friendly when I needed some assistance.

absolutely everything! The hostel was very clean; probably the cleanest hostel I have ever stayed at. The staff were incredibly helpful and kind. I believe his name is Howie, but he helped me through my checkout process which was really helpful. The bar has a speakeasy vibe and has a super cool entrance. My dorm had storage under the bed which was really convenient. The storage is also really spacious. The beds were not bad to sleep on, there is also a dedicated work space which may be helpful to others there for work. Right around the corner is a street full of bars. I didn’t realize how close I was to entertainment. I didn’t need to shower there, so I can’t comment on that. Also, the hostel is near so much. You could easily walk to get coffee or breakfast or just walk the area in general. CVS is not far in case you forgot anything. Also, getting in and out of the hostel and in your dorm space is phenomenal. I felt safe using a key card and code to access the property. As a solo travel that was a huge deal. I honestly cannot wait to book another stay and would definitely recommend it to anyone or all ages, but definitely for those that are in the fence about hostel stays-book the stay; you won’t regret it.
I honestly don’t have any complaints. My stay, and the service I received was phenomenal.
