I did not like the fact that they allowed big dogs like golden retrievers to be in the resort. I understand small dogs, but these were not small dogs was told that guess can have pets but only small dogs in the area of the lobby and their room not at the pool or restaurants, but the dogs were by the pool

I liked the location of the resort, and some of the amenities.

The staff could have been more accommodating to us. Some people were treated better than us, and I believe that had to do what we looked like. We were not treated the same as others. The food was very bland, and did not taste good, for the most part. I would just expect a lot more for the type of resort and money spent on this stay.

Speed trap as you drive into the hotel. Charged crazy resort fee and then cancelled activities die to weddings. This could have been handled much better

The resort was beautiful and peaceful. There was quite a bit of activity for wedding season, however, we felt very comfortable and didn't feel over populated. The staff at the pool and restaurant were incredibly friendly and attentive. I loved that dogs were allowed, however, the place did not smell of pets. The pool was clean and Jason our waiter was wonderful!! He served up the best drinks all day. We enjoyed that we were able to rent bikes and beach chairs/umbrella right at the resort. So convenient! Honestly, every staff member from front desk to bike rental, pool and restaurant were incredibly friendly and attentive. Housekeeping staff also did an excellent job every day keeping our room neat and clean. Thank you, we had such a wonderful experience and will definitely return.

The only thing I can think of that was negative, was the hot tub pump was so loud, it was hard to talk. But if that is the worse thing, I'll take it.

The resort is directly on the beach and beach chairs and umbrella's were provided by the resort and beach services. The beach was clean and nice. They also had lifeguard services. The pool area was very nice and inviting. They had an outdoor bar and food service menu. The bar staff was attentive to the guest. The room was clean and quite for the most part. We were next to rooms that were still being remodeled and that was noisy during the day. I thought the resort should have provided a bit of a discount for this inconvenience. The plus was that the resort staff was excellent.

Great Beach Access

The sofa bed was a bit "springy" and uncomfortable.

The hotel is newly renovated and is pleasant and location is great with the beach close by. Restaurant was surprisingly with a good menu for breakfast and diner. We had delicious food at diner and we ate there three times! The staff at the reception is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast, specially from the menu was also very tasty. We also loved the pool , the commodities there and the beach: Just wonderful, one can walk for miles on the beautiful strand.

In general the staff was very friendly and professional. Then there are the exceptions that sabotage the good work that other staff do so well. They are rude, not motivated and for them it is most laborious to give service to a customer. Also the little work they do, they do it badly. While writing this review, I realize that their behavior is so bad that you have to really motivate yourself not to neglect the good performance of others. A pity !

We knew construction was happening on site, but we didn’t realize they were remodeling the rooms that joined us. Very noisy through the day. Hot water issues, bed not comfortable, food prices too high, pool not heated well enough, pool not open long enough, hot tub too small.

Not much of restaurant. Room was not ready, to wait until 530 to get into room. They did comp us breakfast but it was just a buffet.

Property was clean and family friendly. We had a good time and will definitely visit again.

Our room was recently remodeled and it was great. The staff is excellent and the grounds are exceptional. My wife and I love this place. Thus was our fourth stay.

Beautiful and on the ocean

This is the message I sent when replying to Sonesta’s questionnaire: First of all I reserved a pool view room 3 weeks in advance and was not notified until I arrived that I had industrial roof top noisy view. My room was $279, my associate who reserved 3 days in advance through a corporate booking was $189. We both had the same type room on the same side and floor. MY TOILET OVER FLOWED and your sorry maintenance crew would not even come look at it! They said it was a job for a plumber. The crazy thing is the toilet drained through the shower drain. I know this because I heard it. I had to walk from the furthest room from the elevator on the fifth floor each time to use the restroom located in the lobby area. To accommodate me I was given a one day discount of $80; I asked for the entire cost to be waved but $120 discount was the best they could do. Saturday at noon we decided to eat at the hotel but NO!, you were not serving food at any location! My coffee maker had the plug prongs tied together with a wire so we couldn’t plug it in but we were able to remove it to find that there was no regular coffee k-cups provided. My refrigerator room was not working and my milk products spoiled! The rooms don’t even have a microwave. At check-in I had a heavy bag but was told that the luggage cart is only to be used by the attendant and I don’t carry cash often anymore; honestly who does? So I carried the bag myself because I didn’t have cash to give a tip. The purpose of our trip was 16 of us guys travel each year to HHI to play tennis. This year we played at Van Der Meer. Because you have no special incentive for people to stay and play next door, 13 of our guys stayed somewhere else. And I’m glad they did so they could enjoy their trip. When I receive the questionnaire from Booking dot com, I will tell them exactly what I have told you here.

I understand that it was off season but their hot tubs were not working, not shuttles provided, all washers in the facility had broken down and no courtesy given from the HOTEL to cover up for these shortcomings. Their entire resort was empty when we were checking out and we asked for a late checkout because our flights were in the evening and I have 2 kids and pregnant wife with me. They did not give us anything except 1 hour late checkout. We literally sat idle in their lobby for 4 hours in front of them post checkout while we stared at their bored receptionist killing time as no new guests were checking in (obviously coz it was January 2nd)

I had booked a double queen ocean view room. When I arrived, the hotel manager told me the ocean view rooms were closed for refurbishment so I would have to choose another room. I was not happy at this news since this trip was a mother/daughter birthday celebration.

Location was great - and staff (even though it was Christmas) was pleasant.

Property is 'tired'...rooms need a refresh as does the lobby. We stayed here last year and while it was 'old' then, this year you could really see the wear and tear. Overall, pretty disappointing especially for the money.

Food was good and the bed was comfortable!

This place is very nice, the only problem is a a lack of a big family rooms, they only offer a king bed and sofa to 2 queen beds for 3 adults and 2 kids, so we had to take 2 rooms to fit 5 people and a dog, but there was no door through and u can not book it up front u get a through rooms only at the site and only if u are lucky, I just wish that a beautiful place like this would have more family type rooms. But it is a great hotel and place for vacation.

Nice and clean and very spacious!!! So luxurious and nice quiet location :D Will definitely be the main place I stay whenever my family and I come to Hilton Head

Had to pay for on site bike rental and use of beach chairs. With all the extra fees, bikes and beach chairs should be included. Tiki Bar and pool bar closed at 4:30. Should stay open until sunset.
