Overall a good stay

Ample free parking. Comfortable beds.

Breakfast could include something cooked, like scrambled eggs or fried sausages, not just hard boiled eggs

Great value, comfortable room, and great location. Continental breakfast is a bonus.

The continental breakfast had a great variety of items to choose from. The room had plenty of space to enjoy breakfast. Offering breakfast was one of the reasons I selected the Monarch resort for our stay. Many hotels in our price range have discontinued this perk. It made traveling with my elderly mom more convenient and a great start to our day.

The staff member wasn’t friendly or welcoming upon check in. Although she answered my questions she wasn’t warm and engaging. This wasn’t the customer service experience I expected.

I enjoyed my stay very much and would definitely recommend this place!!!!

I loved how beautiful it was from the outside!!! Very well taken care of!!! Staff were super friendly!!!! And I loved that breakfast was available!!!

Gut an der Küste gelegen

Gute Lage. In wenigen Gehminuten an der Küste. Wenig trouble. Sehr freundlicher Empfang. Frühstück kontinental gut. Unterm Strich eine gute Unterkunft für 2 Nächte für uns. Wir würden wiederkommen.

Sehr hellhörig. Man hört jeden Schritt aus dem Nachbarzimmer aufgrund der Holzdielen. Über dem Früstücksraum liegen auch Zimmer. Wenn dort jemand gelaufen ist, hat es beim Frühstück ordentlich geknarzt. Renovierung könnte mal vorgenommen werden. Die Punkte haben uns aber nicht gestört.

Reasonably priced Centrally located for access to Monterey/Cambria & Pebble Beach

Very reasonably priced for the area. Good location between Monterey/Cambria/Pebble beach. I liked the pool (heated—so even though it was cold out—I got a swim in), jacuzzi and sauna. Wood burning Fireplace in the room. Light breakfast included.

Older property—nothing fancy, but good deal for what I paid.

We got what we paid for!

The hotel has character & the breakfast was better than expected. Staff was friendly, & the pool space was simple but nice.

It's an old hotel that needs a facelift.

Hotel staff were very accommodating. Samantha at front desk helped us out when we couldn’t get our fire log to ignite and then double checked to make sure we were happy. she went over and beyond and we appreciate it. continental breakfast is a nice spread with hard boiled eggs, instant oatmeal, muffins, bagels, cream cheese, yogurt, fruit, coffee, tea and hot water. Love that there are trays to carry your breakfast to your room. And my favorite: the bathroom layout is perfect for two people to get ready at the same time! Two outlets - one inside the bathroom and one outside with the sink =genius!

Would love granola /cereal at breakfast. Need bigger matches for fire log.

Great Value Excellent Location

The resort was obviously "The Place to Stay in Pacific Grove" at one time. And, although it is somewhat dated, it is very well maintained and clean. The breakfast was simple but did have what you'd expect from a continental breakfast. The service was excellent. The pool and jacuzzi were very nice. We didn't try the sauna, but we know others did so it's a welcome amenity. The resort is within walking distance of a restaurant, golf course, the butterfly sanctuary and the beach. It's a close drive to everything in Monterey and Carmel. The weather was perfect, but if you've ever been to Monterey, you know that's not guaranteed. Overall, we had a very positive stay.

It was ok Breakfast. But room above us noisy. Really Ridiculous when there were a total of 6 rooms rented.

A wonderful stay and budget friendly, would book again.

Obviously an older hotel but well maintained. The outdoor/ indoor planters were a great retro touch. It was very clean and the room was quite spacious. The fireplace and complimentary logs were a great touch. The continental breakfast was good with a decent variety. I appreciated the real coffee mugs in the room. The staff were extremely friendly.

The only thing that I would call a minor inconvenience was no daily housekeeping, but that seems to be an industry standard these days. It is definitely not something that would deter me from staying again in the future. Also, a plain oatmeal choice would be nice option for the breakfast.

Pleasant stay at a very quiet hotel. The breakfast options were fine and well stocked. We came to see the Monarch Butter

One of the most comfortable hotel beds I have slept on. Location was good. Within walking distance of Monarch Grove, Lighthouse, beautiful shore trail and downtown.

As most have stated, the hotel could use some updating, but all in all, it was very comfortable and perfectly fine.

Excellent value, great location - I’ll be back!

Spacious, sunny room with decent sized fridge, microwave and good sized table with comfy chairs. Good breakfast choices including boiled eggs and fruit.awesome hot tub and sauna!

Needs a 21st century makeover but honestly, it’s fine for the price!

We stay here quite often, and we love it every time! It’s always such a pleasure to be greeted by such friendly staff. They are kind and very accommodating. The hotel is clean and very welcoming. The room we stayed in was roomy and had a Fireplace, microwave, fridge and coffee maker which we love! The beds are very comfortable. The breakfast is great and the hot tub and pool are a great plus! We must add that the Location can’t be beat! So quiet! We will be back soon!

Location and super clean and quiet Endless hot water

TV should be mounted on the wall.. (higher) painting over the fireplace needs to go to the dump. A nite light in the bath would be great.. ceiling fan needs to be replaced…Bath fan needs to be replaced (low scone model) Room 104

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. I'll be back,!

The breakfast was substantial for a continental one. I appreciated having hard boiled eggs as well as coffee, orange juice, muffins, bagels, instant oatmeal, yogurt, bananas and tangerines. I also liked the available heated pool, jacuzzi, and sauna, but didn't have time to enjoy them this time.

I wish the lighting in the room was brighter.
