The hotel was fine for our weekend visiting friends. Patio chairs would have been nice, the only addition I would request.

Do not recommend for solo traveling women. The door (which goes straight to the street) had obviously been kicked in before and was very poorly repaired. I could almost pull the door open when it was locked. There was no secondary lock or way to secure the door. The room was very 1970s gramma basement furniture, including squeaky old mattress and polyester pillow cases. This place had not seen love or a remodel in decades. I had a horrible feeling after seeing the damaged and poorly repaired door jamb. Since I was a woman traveling alone, I panicked and gave the key back about 30 minutes after I arrived (the time it took to unload my car, try to talk myself into staying, panic, make a reservation at a new hotel, and pack the car back up again). This hotel had decent reviews and I had never stayed in Brookings before so I did my best to choose a nice place to stay. I don’t demand luxury in a small town hotel but this place felt unsafe and the room was, at best, a 2-star accommodation. Wish I had taken a photo of the door to show here. I was too panicked to ask for a refund - just told the front desk it wasn’t safe, put the key down, and fled.

The hotel is cute for the price but the bed moved around even when you just sat on it. I did like that they gave us a sheet for the dogs. Nobody came to the front even after ringing bell when I turned in the key.

Got a room with two beds and the room was more spacious than I expected. Overall, it was a good stay.

This is definitely in the cheap motel category. Upon arriving, the man at the front desk was very kind and helpful. It gave me hope after reading the questionable reviews of the place. When we got in the room, we could tell it was old and outdated. We had 3 beds but the separate bedroom was behind a room in the hotel room next to us (shared a thin wall). The beds all made lots of noise and were very uncomfortable. We found things (including food) leftover in the drawers of the nightstands. None of us used the shower, so I can’t say much about that. We definitely chose to make it a short stay and left as soon as possible in the morning. We never felt unsafe but it was not a place we’d stay at again.
