We were charged for valet parking when we didn’t have a car. Also one afternoon there was no running water.

The staff are all incredible.. from the valet to maintenance to front desk to the ambler!!

It was wonderful pool, spa, room excellent!

The room decor was a nice surprise. I thoroughly enjoyed the look of the brick wall, the layout and the nice view. The only thing i could Say anything negative towards is the drawer in the dresser that would not close…which is knit picking. The sitting areas made it feel more like an apartment than a hotel room.

They are way understaffed and anytime we called for something it would take several tries to get an answer. We called to have our luggage brought down and waited 45 minutes and no one came so we just did it ourselves.

Everything was great and the hotel is very nice and the staff was great. Parking is not free if you valet

There is much to love about this property. Great suites, great location, great pool, and very friendly staff. However, there are issues that just shouldn’t be there at a property of this caliber and nightly rate. We found multiple hairs on the bathroom floor and shower, the bathroom doors have no locks and so no privacy, and the bar has expensive drinks that are terrible. The old fashioned I ordered was almost $20 and was the worst one I’ve ever had. Actually undrinkable. The margarita my wife had tasted like it was made with syrup. A hotel of this caliber shouldn’t be selling Applebees drinks at Four Seasons prices. With management attention to these items this hotel would be fantastic.

Unfortunately our room was directly across from the 3 elevators. We could hear the elevator operations for each one each time it was powered to move up or down. It was annoying.

Great stay! Every staff member we interacted with was friendly and helpful. Room was clean and spacious. We will return.

Had a horrible experience. The hotel was gorgeous, but unfortunately our hot water didn’t work, so they sent a plumber to our room at 11pm to fix it, he was there for 45 minutes. Then our A/C didn’t work, we were sweating and barely slept all night. We waited over an hour to talk to a manager the next morning, he could care less and chocked it up to “unforeseen circumstances out of his control”. Said he would comp our portion of the hotel bill, which was literally only for parking and 2 drinks. Didn’t care much at all to make anything better for us in the future until I asked him about it, then said not to call the front desk expecting a discount from them. We came here for a nice overnight, romantic stay and got anything but! We’re incredibly dissatisfied and disappointed. Wouldn’t recommend.

Hotel is in a wonderful location. Staff except from front desk was accommodating. Refrigerator did not work. Reported, but not help. Coffee maker stopped working on the second day. Key did not work second day. Had to go downstairs to get help. (Battery dead). No hair dryer. I asked front desk and they said they did not supply them. Not true. A cleaning person in the hall got us one and the other rooms had hair dryers.

I could not control the temperature in my bedroom. Either really cold or hot. I could also hear the elevators in my room. Sounded like the wind blowing. Watch your bill upon checkout. They charged me $ 49 a day for parking and I didn’t have a car. They removed the charges. Close to the Riverwalk and the Alamo. Within walking distance.

The Hotel Contessa is a beautiful hotel with a great location on the Riverwalk for seeing the sights. All of the staff were friendly and welcoming. The building and room showed some signs of wear but nothing to diminish our stay. Everything was clean and the room was very comfortable. I especially enjoyed the ducks on the patio at river level.

Hotels should offer 2 soft pillows and 2 hard pillows. They should also offer a recycle container.

Very helpful and service was great.

Charming place. Will be back

This hotel is perfect if you are looking to stay on the Riverwalk. The room was incredibly clean and spacious. They had my room ready way before check in which was a perk. The rooftop pool is beautiful. The only downside was all the noise from traffic nearby and the Riverwalk but that was out of their control.

We stayed at the Hotel Contessa San Antonio for a work conference held at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. It was an easy walk to the convention center from the Hotel Contessa. (Less than 10 minutes even though one of our employees walks slow.)
Our Bellhop was a complete joy! AJ exuded pride in the Hotel Contessa. He shared bits of history about the Contessa with us, locations of the Hotel amenities, and made sure each of us were satisfied when we got to our rooms. Both Joe (at check-in) and AJ contributed to our positive experience. I didn't get his name, but even our valet was a joy to interact with!
Our rooms were exceptional. The beds were soft and comfortable. (If you need a very firm mattress, like my husband, the couch provided an alternative place to sleep. It wasnt a sofa sleeper, but was large enough for a person to sleep on.) The bed sheets were stiffer than what I am accustomed to but not uncomfortable. I actually slept wonderfully!
I loved the layout of our rooms. Very roomy! The showers are somewhat dated but everything was clean. There are large bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash mounted in the showers. They provided lotion, makeup wipes and a vanity kit. The in-room Keurig coffee was very good. There is also a mini fridge and safe in the room. However, there wasn't a microwave. Most importantly, the AC worked great.
Overall, I would definitely stay here again.

It was okay. The beds were small, not big enough for two people to share so I slept on the couch. Also I left an item in the room and the staff has not been very proactive or communicative on locating it.

Beautiful hotel! Our room overlooked the Riverwalk and the suite was roomy and amazing! The most disappointing part was the service. Pulling in, the drive through area was packed and cars were backed up on the busy street. I'm not sure if the valets were just super busy or understaffed. Then we needed extra towels and wash cloths and we called twice and then had to go to the front desk for these items. No one ever showed up. I hope these lapses in service were due to the busy Spring Break rush, but regardless they need improving in this area. On a positive note, we ate at the Ambler restaurant and the food and drinks were great! Get the Goat Cheese Brulee appetizer!! Also, when we left, the valet area was much better and the lady overseeing it all was AMAZING! She opened our doors for us and sent us off with a much better attitude. I wish she had been there when we checked in.

Hotel Contessa is a luxury Hotel on the not so crowded area of the San Antonio River Walk. The hotel is beautiful with a very large lobby. You can lounge, work and eat. The service was top notch. The Rooms are spacious with living room and separate bedroom. The bed was comfortable with large pillows. Fast and always connected internet. The only issues someone may have and this is all over the US now and that's the parking rates and resort fees. It is what it is and has become the norm in all downtown areas of the US. Overall we will be returning the next time we return to San Antonio.

Great hotel. Very clean, the service was amazing and the restaurant extremely good. I highly recommend it

Room had 3 lights out, no bar soap in bathroom and pool was listed as heated and was cool asfk. The pros is valet and luggage service were outstanding.

Hotel is very nice however they were not up to speed this time. Asked for 2 rooms to be adjoining and they did not fulfill that. Had rooms 4 doors away. Check in for one of the rooms was an hour later than promised. Had to request multiple times for blankets. Finally received them on second day thanks to cleaning lady. No drinking water bottles provided in room. No pool towels available when we went swimming. Had to request some.

Very sweet staff, more than willing to offer help and resources around the area.

We reserved a river view and i was pretty happy with the view. Staff was very friendly. Check in was very quick and smooth. Live music and bar was very soothing. Family of 4 so we had a double full beds. Pretty small! Beds were not as comfortable as i expected. Alittle worn out. Room was a tad humid. It was either super cold or humid. Couldnt control the temperature very well. Overall a great stay. There was much more pros than cons.

The hotel setting and overall look was lovely. It’s aging though and it’s showing. Room didn’t have air working optimally and it was hot. Shower head was coming off, rusty sink drain and the suite had only sofa not a pull out bed. There were no vending machines or snack options which wasn’t helpful when we got later evening munchies. River is right there so it had great location

Hey Friends and Family my Daughter Found A Great Hotel for our Spring Break Trip ( Hotel Contessa) Everything was in Walking distance for us Great Service and Staff.
1.0
Not so good. Three hour delay getting checked in and offered nothing for our inconvenience. Our evening plans were ruined. The front desk experience is robotic and cold. The bar staff seemed bothered by my presence. Too many other good options in this area to makes this hotel a serious contender. Avoid.

The rooms were nice, bed was comfortable. Spa was amazing!

Enjoyed the hotel, just not the front desk. Very impersonal service and attitude.
5.0
Service was amazing. All employees super nice. The only inconvenience was that we reserved a room for 3 people and there was not bed or cot for the third person, just a sofa ( not a pull out).
5.0
This was a great hotel as usual! Everything always so clean and great location. We love staying here. Valet service always on top of their game.
4.0
The location is amazing. You can walk out the back of the hotel onto the riverwalk. You can get to The Alamo on foot in less than 10 minutes.
The suite sitting area and bedroom were nice but the bathroom was dated and sink counter face and tub had a lot of scratches and damage. I should have taken pictures of the damage. The towels were heavy and very thick but not soft. The shower ceiling was much lower than the rest of the suite. The shower head was only 2 inches above my head so anyone taller than 5’10” would have to bend over to rinse their head and upper body.
The restaurant was lovely but they forgot an item on my order. I was nearly done with the rest of my meal when it came out. They did remove it from my bill without my having to ask.
4.0
This hotel was nice and clean. Staff was friendly but sadly charging me $300/night was overpriced!!!! My room can hear the elevator 24/7 and was a corner suite. Location is nice on the riverwalk. I will try somewhere else next time for less than $300/night.
5.0
Friendly service, room service was bit slow but no other problems
