Front desk lady tried to sneak in $30 daily self parking charges onto our 6 night stay. She created small talk and ask if we got to drive around and see the island I said yes (my parents had a car I did not) then when I saw the receipt was almost $200 more then our stay should have been per my reservation email I saw the $30 daily self parking charges. I told her we didn’t have a car and she played dumb and said “oh you didn’t” I told her I read reviews about them adding miscellaneous charges and that is the only reason I went through the itemized receipt and she said oh really? Well you said you drove around the island and then removed the charges. Overall the hotel was okay, it’s under construction and it was loud you could even hear it by the beach area. the pool was also partially closed off in 1 area. My parents also had an issue with the charges at checkout so customers beware

Heavy construction/remodel. No warning on their website. Pool is half closed and they are grinding concrete. The noise in the pool area makes it all the way up to the rooms and to the beach. Pretty disappointing way to spend $600 p/night on your honeymoon. Upper management is not supportive of their front line staff which is still there with a smile. Hope they get treated better than their customers.

We feel that Sonesta slammed us with parking fees with no notification. We checked in on a Friday night and were given a decent room. We were told on check-in that self parking was free and valet parking was $30 per day. Eight days later we were charged with $30 per day self parking fee. When I questioned the charge, I was told that the person that checked us in was incorrect and there is a $30 self park fee and a $40 valet fee. The room we had was OK but the refrigerator was an issue. We had some food and beverages from the previous place we stayed. We put some meat cheese and beverages in the refrigerator. Saturday morning the meat and cheese were frozen and several beverages pushed their caps off and leaked in the refrigerator as they froze. A different refrigerator was sent up and it started freezing items a little less than a week later.

I don't usually leave reviews but since I agonized over our hotel choice for Kauai, one would be useful! First off, we loved the location, it was close to the airport so we didn't have to travel far on arrival. In spite of this, we didn't hear a lot of noise from planes and the property felt peaceful. The location made driving to both ends of the island convenient. The shuttles were a nice touch and we felt so relaxed not having to worry about transport to the airport. The pool is so large that it never felt crowded even though part of it was blocked off for construction. The hotel was recently updated so pulling up to the entrance looked impressive. All rooms faced the ocean which was a nice touch and looked both clean and modern. Our room was also so spacious so we didn't feel like we were on top of each other for a week. The restaurants were EXCELLENT, especially the sushi restaurant. It was so convenient to be able to go downstairs for good food whenever we were too tired to go out. All of the restaurants had great food, in comparison we ate at the Grand Hyatt restaurants twice on this trip and the food there was both exorbitantly expensive and lackluster. The staff throughout the property were all very nice and accommodating. After a long flight from the mainland it was great to be greeted by someone cordial and seemed happy to help. My bf was a little hesitant about the price but we both agreed that it was worth it!

Hotel needs a facelift and I believe they are currently working on that as there were several areas of construction going on. The pool area is very nice for families and proximity to airport makes for a great 1 night stay before a flight home.

This was by far the worst resort we have ever stayed in. Where to even start? For the price point (almost $600 a night) we were excepting some basics included. For one the hotel so very run down and needs a major upgrade. They are also in middle of construction all over the property. It’s loud and messy and the front lobby when you walk in is all papered off and a total mess. None of this was disclosed at booking. The room was gross, the beds uncomfortable and they don’t even offer water. It’s $7 for a place bottle of water in your room. They charge you $30 to self park way up the road on top of the $40 resort fee (+ a ton of taxes). The food is overpriced (like outrageous) and is basic bar food, such a disappointment. Housecleaning came pounding on our room door at 8:15 am yelling housekeeping here to clean. They woke our whole family up after we had taken a red eye and were exhausted (hiking to try and sleep in). Let’s just say there are so many others better hotels on the island, don’t waste your $$ here.

Ok hotel with a giant pool. So much walking to get from one side to the other. There’s no cutting through. To get to the middle jacuzzis, you would have to swim to them. The front desk is so far from the entrance. Hard to find parking. I find it weird and kinda ick that they allow day use of the hotel rooms. I can only imagine what people use the rooms for. It’s a nice enough hotel and close to the airport but overpriced for sure. We only stayed one night. We spent the rest of the week in Princeville and that was much much nicer. Will not be returning.

Beautiful with an amazing pool. Lihue is a great location on the island. One can easily drive north to Princeville or South to Pipui and other towns in between. You can walk straight out from the pool to the almost private beach.
