Loved everything about the place!!! Drive up the mountain was a little scary for the kids and I’m glad we had a 4x4 diesel for the steep roads (gravel and smooth, but more than we were used to). Perfect for our family of 5 and had room for others to bring next time. 4 yr old wanted to live there and not go home. Will absolutely book here again!!!

Our family of 6 stays in the Shenandoah area every year and we tend to pick a new cabin each time. We typically stay right on the water, but this time we wanted to do more hiking, play games together, and generally just enjoy the house. This house has it all. What a view! Worth the steep driveway. The decks have comfy furniture (especially the porch swing), and a view worthy of a postcard. The house is well organized and clean. We really enjoyed the game room and played ping pong and foosball every night. Corn hole and horseshoes on the property provided hours of fun. We enjoyed the fire pit and a really cool black snake, chipmunk, deer, and other abundant wildlife that would visit us. The snake's name is Steve, by the way. LOL We highly recommend this house. If you choose to stay here, don't forget to hike the neighborhood which has easy access to the woods. A visit to the VA Safari Park is a must and is only about an hour and 20 minutes away. Totally worth the trip. Suggest eating at The Southern Inn located near the VA Safari Park - we've eaten there many times and the food never disappoints. Favorites are any appetizers, fried chicken, meatloaf, liver w/ onions, shrimp dishes and of course desserts which are also yummy. Anthony's Pizza near the Walmart and Food Lion in Luray is also recommended and is a very short drive away (maybe 15 minutes or less). Bring a hand mixer if you like to cook, as the house did not come with one, though we suggested the owners purchase one for the home. We will be back! Thank you Shenandoah Rentals - you made the entire process easy!

The house is beautiful and comfortable. It amazed us that we could sit on the deck and look at the same mountain range, and watch the beauty change throughout the day. The road to get to the property was an adventure in itself. We planned to get to the house on friday night and head out for hiking and scenic views on Saturday, but the peacefulness of the house and mountain view kept us at camp. We played horseshoes, cornhole, hiked along the woods beside the house. We threw on sweatshirts in the evening and made a fire. We all needed to unplug, and the house was perfect.

My family & I stayed at the Shenandoah Retreat mid February. Getting to the cabin was a challenge going up the mountain especially at night; thank goodness we took our SUV. Once we arrived, the house was exactly like advertised & super clean. The only bug problem was a bunch of stink bugs & lady bugs; but nothing my bug zapper couldn’t handle. The house manager was very quick to respond to my text messages & booking was super easy. The property was less than 25 mins away from Luray Caverns which was a big plus for me. Once the sunrise came up, the panoramic views from the balconies was breathtaking! It was so serene to take in all the views while sipping on my morning tea. After a few hours of hiking; the hot tub was even better. It was clean and very relaxing. The kitchen came fully equipped with basic cooking equipment & basic toiletries were provided in all the bathrooms. Overall our stay was amazing & I will be booking with Shenandoah rentals again!

We had a great time at the Shenandoah Retreat. The house worked perfectly for 2 families, with plenty of room for sleep and play. We loved the proximity to the caverns and the national park. The house was spotlessly clean when we arrived and we did not encounter any issues during our stay. Thanks for the great time!

We really enjoyed our time at the Shenandoah Retreat. Check-in/check-out was very smooth and the property was in good condition. There were stinkbugs that kept getting in but you're out in the mountains so that type of stuff should be expected. The gravel road up to the cabin was no joke - 4WD definitely recommended.

We stayed here over the Labor Day Holiday. The cabin is very secluded, peaceful, and quite. The house was very clean and furnishings were up to date and comfortable. Coffee on the deck with the gorgeous view of the mountains in the back drop. The kitchen is fully stocked with utensils and cookware. The refrigerator was a little small for our needs, because we choose to prepare all of our meals. The Shenandoah Outfitters is close by and we fished down the river on a canoe which made for a relaxing day. The campfire pit and sitting area is a great area to relax in the evening under the stars. It would be helpful if there was more lighting near the corn hole boards. There are butterfly bushes planted all around the property and our timing was wonderful there were several different types of butterflies zooming about. Be prepared this is a very remote location and even through it was August, when we stayed our heavy 2500 Ram pickup truck with new tires needed to be put in four wheel drive on the gravel road to get up the mountain. Our Subaru all wheel drive had no problems.

My mother passed away recently due to cancer. She was 86. She lived a good life and wanted her ashes spread at her and my Dad and my grandparents. Our children were awesome with helping out with their grandmother when they found out she had cancer. They were always close to her but was so much more loving. We all ensured she was able to fulfill her bucket list before leaving us. We felt our children deserved a celebration of life in her memory. We had a wonderful time and said our good byes on Skyline Drive. Thank you for everything.

Shenandoah Retreat has a stunning view and location. It’s very clear the owners put a lot of thought into the property and new build. Everything was clean and worked well. The property was quiet and peaceful. The drive in is fun and it’s a gravel road. My car based SUV was fine but just had to take it slow due to the bumps. It’s easier in a more off-road SUV or truck but others in our group with front wheel drive cars made it. I would absolutely come back another time, probably in the fall.

We had such a great weekend! We had so many fun things planned to do but the cabin and views were so beautiful we ended up spending the weekend there enjoying it all. The view from the porch alone was worth it!

This property was exactly as presented. Right down to the comments about you should drive a 4-wheel drive vehicle. 😂 We didn't, and it got a little dicey, but made it up the steep terrain. The home was spectacular. Remember to bring exactly what you need, as for us was a tough drive up the mountain and I was determined we weren't leaving until check-out. The host was responsive and informative from beginning until end. I highly recommend this property. Peaceful, secluded and fully stocked with everything you need but food and your clothes.

My family and I rented this lovely cabin over a long weekend and cannot say enough good things about the entire experience. Very well set up with activities and the views were unbelievable. Highly recommend to others and well be sure to return. Very clean and comfortable. 5 out of 5 stars all around!

We enjoyed staying at the property. Grilling, Views, Hot tub, games, bonfire etc. everything is there. Just remember to take 4WD vehicle due to trail roads to reach the property.

The house was very clean. The lay-out was great. Three separate sleeping areas, each with a view.

This property is very clean, nicely equipped for all of our needs and very relaxing. The internet was a bit spotty at times for all of us but considering how remote we were it was great. I would definitely go again (and again!).

What an AMAZING property! The views from the deck and large windows are absolutely breathtaking. Perfect weekend getaway retreat for couples. Everything was clean and there is still a pleasant smell of new wood when you walk in.
Didn't use the fire pit, but the hot tub and cornhole set up were definitely a bonus for us. There are neighbors around, but we could only hear them when they were being on the loud side, couldn't see them at all through the trees.
The gravel roads to the house are a bit challenging - four wheel drive definitely recommended, but you can make it with a regular vehicle. Would stay here again without a doubt!

This is a beautiful home located on an east-facing mountainside looking toward Luray. The view from the front deck is spectacular! It wasn't difficult to reach (excellent directions were provided!) or enter. The bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable, as were the couches in the living room. The hot tub was terrific -- tucked away behind the house where we could look up the hill and marvel at how it was all built. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking and serving meals, and I appreciated having a washer/dryer available. There's another house not too far away (we could hear voices from their patio or deck), but we couldn't see the house, so that counts as "private" in my book! I always like visiting Luray and I definitely hope to come back to this beautiful home.

Amazing house and views
The house has a great layout and is really clean with amazing views throughout. The cornhole/horseshoe area is really nice and the fire pit adds a lot of charm. We've stayed at several homes around Luray and this is the nicest one by far.

Pristine house and amazing views!
This property was absolutely stunning! Everything is super clean and the views cannot be beat. Great communication with the property manager and felt like she would have helped out promptly I’d any issue arose. The only word of caution is that the views come at a price: the road to the house contains steep inclines, so prepare your car and trip accordingly! Totally worth it though:) We’ll be back for sure.

We stayed at this cabin over the weekend and were told we were the first renters! We loved the cabin and view and hot tub! The roads were very steep and gravel and you definitely need a four wheel drive to access the property. Also there was a lot of ladybugs on the inside of the front glass but other than that it was a great stay!
