About this house rental
Nestled in Charleston, this charming house for $189 per night is a great option for your next vacation. This is a charming home with a riverfront view! It has easy access to the interstate and located approximately 7 minutes drive from Yeager Airport and the WV State Capitol Complex. It is only one mile from Charleston Civic Center, Charleston Town Center Mall and close proximity to all major hospitals in Charleston, WV. Magic Island and Haddad Parks are within walking distance, as well as, the Clay Center. In front of the house and on the opposite side of the street are running and bike tracks. Don’t forget to try the many restaurants nearby! You will love staying in this spacious nearly 3,200 square foot home! You can sit on the front porch drinking your coffee with a riverfront view or you can kick back in a recliner in the living room and watch the 70” flat screen tv. The kitchen was completely remodeled with high end Jenn-Air double oven and electric stove. Feel free to stay in and use the kitchen to cook the family a good meal or visit one of the many nice restaurants nearby. When you want to rest you can escape to the spacious master bedroom for a nap or head to the third floor recreation room to relax and watch tv. Don’t forget about the newly remodeled bathroom with marble and custom walk in shower.

Communication with Rodger was excellent, he responded promptly to questions and kept us updated.
The home was well appointed; spacious, but cozy; close to restaurants and shops; the parking area easily accommodated our five vehicles.
The massage chair was a hit for those of us who ran the Frozen Sasquatch 25K. And, amazingly there was sufficient hot water for six of us to bathe/shower after returning from our very muddy, rainy run.
My biggest complaint is that we did not spend enough time enjoying all that the house had to offer.
If we return to Charleston for Frozen Sasquatch next year, we will be checking availability.

We had 6 adults and 4 kids stay together to celebrate Christmas. The large kitchen made homemade meals a great opportunity for everyone to help. The third floor was perfect for the older kids. Two bedrooms on second floor along with full laundry facilities. Bedroom on first floor. We were pleasantly surprised to see two full and two half baths throughout.
The park across the street was great for the kids to run off some energy. Several convenient stores close by. Property Manager responded quickly. Great overall experience.

The house is so beautiful and stately, very charming with all the original fireplaces throughout. My parents loved sitting and talking about who may have raised their family there decades ago, it was good to have them reminiscing about when they grew up.
The check-in experience could not have gone more smooth, Rodger was the perfect host. If we ever get to visit Charleston again, we will definitely be contacting Rodger!

This house was spacious for our group of 8 people and for the most part, the listing and pictures were accurate. There were a few unexpected things that I would want future guests to be mindful of, as applicable - the queen beds mentioned in the listing are air mattresses and were not all available upon arrival… if depending upon a specific number of beds, maybe confirm availability. The exterior of the house was also not well lit, so it was a difficult to find after dark. We communicated all of our first impressions and feedback to Rodger upon arrival and found him to be very responsive and understanding. Had it not been for Rodger’s excellent handling of the situation, we may have only given a 3-star rating.

The house was great! Property owner was Great! My only complaint is I had a hard time sending messages to the property owner, which is a VRBO problem, not the property owners. Or maybe I just couldn’t figure it out. In all an really cool house. Kids LOVED it!

This was a perfect central place to relax after a day of enjoying riding on the curves and hills of WV. Our girls group just ordered in and ate at the big dining room table, had drinks on the porch and then back to the table for games. We were able to park six motorcycles in the garage with ease. Rodger answered any of our concerns immediately. We all decided it was the PERFECT SPOT for us.

We arrived on a Friday and found the property to be in great condition, easy to access, and convenient to just about everything in Charleston. Nestled in the Luna Park district, it has access to grocery stores and downtown Charleston. There is a bike and walking path along the River, just across the street from the front porch. The property has all the necessary amenities, such as a washer / dryer, dishwasher and modern kitchen appliances. I would definitely recommend this property. The owner was responsive to us when we had an issue getting in (that was our fault, not his).

We had our entire family in to celebrate our parents 80th Birthdays. Traveling in from Louisville, Northern Kentucky, Lexington, KY and Gettysburg, PA. We chose Charleston due to it's location between all of this points. We couldn't have been happier with this property as it had all the comforts we were looking for for our celebration. Our plan was to cook in and enjoy the company of family and this Kitchen was perfect for entertaining the 11 of us for all meals and dining. The rooms were spacious and the beds very comfortable. With multiple full and half baths it was perfect for our large group. Rodger, our host, was a delight to work with and communicated the details of the property clearly and promptly. We will make this a regular destination for our family as it is an easy drive in and parking was adequate. Thank you for a great property and stay

Spacious house that accommodated 5 visitors for Thanksgiving week. Close to downtown, restaurants and activities. Rodger was readily in communication with us for anything we needed. We enjoyed our trip.

This is a nice, historic house that is close to downtown. Some of the furniture even looks antique. We liked that it was pet friendly. The property manager was very responsive, especially when one of the codes to get into the house was incorrect. Thank you for helping us, Rodger! (VRBO sent one code to unlock the house, and the property manager emailed a different code. Once I knew to use his code and not VRBO's code, the problem was fixed.)
We did have one issue with how the house was described in the property listing. It was described as having four bedrooms and the master bedroom was described as having two beds, so the house should have five beds total. However, the 3rd floor bedroom only has an air mattress (not a real mattress) and the extra bed in the master bedroom is only an air mattress. This was a shock as people who were supposed to sleep on those beds thought they were getting a real mattress and they didn't. Air mattresses are not comfortable and renters should know if that is the type of mattress they are getting. For people with spinal problems, the mattress in the First Floor bedroom causes you to "roll" to the middle of the bed which can make back problems worse. The bed may need wood reinforcements under the box spring, or maybe it is the box spring or mattress that is the problem - hard to tell.
Besides the bedroom issues, please know that this is a very nice house and we would definitely consider staying here again (especially if real mattresses were substituted for the air mattresses). We really liked that the home was pet friendly.
As a caution, there are a lot of items that could potentially be breakable. If you have young children or clumsy pets, keep an eye on them so that items don't break. The neighborhood is also a bit run-down so we would recommend using the 2 car garage.
