Located in Connecticut, this attractive bed and breakfast for $85 per night is a great option for your next trip. Enjoy our bright and spacious guest Suite located on the lower, walkout level of our newer home, situated on a quiet cul de sac in the northern Hartford suburbs. Beautifully decorated with a private bedroom, bath, kitchenette, and living room. Step outside your living room to relax on the garden patio. Only 4 miles from Bradley airport and 20 minutes to Hartford or Springfield. Minutes to West Hartford and area colleges. You won't find a cleaner accommodation anywhere. We pride ourselves on providing you a spacious, clean and welcoming space you'll want to return to and relax in after your day’s activities. The Space: The Guest Suite is located in the lower level of our home with plenty of windows and access to the back patio garden, which you're welcome to enjoy. Comfy bathrobes and relaxing recliners await you. The suite includes a living room with a sofa, 2 chairs, a flat screen TV with Roku and internet, and a breakfast eating area. Off of the private living room is your private bedroom, private bath, shared kitchenette, and access to the outside back yard patio. The space is centrally heated and cooled for your comfort and on your own zone. The large bedroom includes a queen-size bed, closet, dresser, luggage racks, iron and ironing board, white noise machine, and a desk and chair. The private bath includes a large walk-in shower and vanity, with comfy towels and "green" toiletries, if you've forgotten to bring your own, as well as bathrobes, and a first aide kit. The kitchenette includes a large sink, dishwasher, filtered water, small fridge, microwave, toaster, Keurig coffee machine, dishes, utensils, and linens. Also provided are complimentary organic coffee, travel cups, and misc beverages. Once a day, we'll need to travel through the kitchenette to an adjoining area to feed our pet parrots. We make every attempt to enter this shared space when you're out. Our newly built home is located in a completed community in the northern Hartford suburbs, with wonderful views of the Berkshire hills to the north. We're at the end of a quiet cul de sac with plenty of parking. Guest Access to the Suite: Access to the Guest suite is through the main house, and down a set of stairs. There is also access to the outside back patio area from the guest suite living room. We'd be happy to help you with your luggage when you arrive. To keep the outside stuff outside, we leave our outside shoes at the door and ask you to do the same. Guest Interaction: We're happy to help with recommendations, directions, or share travel stories, or even show you around the area. You might only see us when you are entering or leaving the home from the main level. During your stay, we'll generally only enter the Guest suite to attend to our birds or to clean the space. Otherwise, we can be as scarce or as interactive as you like. It's up to you. Our Neighborhood: Our home is located in a cul de sac in a quiet newer neighborhood in the northern suburbs of Hartford. We're 4 miles from Bradley (Hartford/Springfield) airport, 20 minutes to downtown Hartford or Springfield, and about 20 minutes to West Hartford Center and Blue Back Square and all its restaurants. Our home is also very convenient to the Windsor area Corporate business parks. We're also convenient to the i91 and i84 highways. Getting Around: Although having a car to get around our location is the most convenient option, there is a local bus stop a half mile from our home where bus #52 will take you to downtown Hartford in about a half hour. From the same stop, bus #54 takes you east on Day Hill Rd to the Poquonock Ave Bus stop where there is an express bus to Hartford weekdays. Certain corporate office parks are actually quite close to our home. Taxi & Uber service also operates in our area. Your Hosts: I'm an IT Geek by day, with a career in software development. My partner Rafael is a nurse. He and I live in our dream home in a lovely rural area just north of Hartford in a newer community, which we'd love to share with you! My partner and I keep busy with home improvements, working in our gardens in the summer, and leaving our lovely new home every chance we get to see the world. We love to share travel experiences. My hobby is choral singing and my partner keeps rescued and adopted parrots and other birds. As far as a motto or rule to live by, I guess that would be "The Golden Rule". Carl & Rafael share their beautiful home with people. It is a special place. There are fantastic birds. There is a wonderful view of the sunrise coming in through the windows (unless you close the blinds to sleep in late). They pay attention to detail and care about, and for, their guests. We were visiting family in West Hartford. Carl & Rafael's house is about 15 minutes away. It is the cleanest place we have ever visited. And it is beautiful. It has everything you could need & more. Rafael was kind enough to let us bring our grandchildren & daughter over to visit the birds. If you go, please say hello to Lenox for me -- he's my favorite. WE are looking forward to our return!

Staying with Carl and Rafael in their beautiful home went beyond our expectations. Their accommodations were immaculate and furnished better than a 5 star hotel. They provided yogurt, cereal, almond milk, coffee and tea that was great for breakfast before we ventured out each morning. Carl gave us great recommendations for site seeing, hikes and restaurants.
We were surprised to find out that they rescue exotic birds. It was fun visiting the birds and watching Rafael take such good care of each one.
We will definitely be back to visit. Everything was just perfect!

Beautiful home and yard, very well maintained. Private accommodation on lower level of home with access to walk out patio. Exotic birds live on lower level as well. You can visit the birds if interested, if not you won't see them. Our host Raphael was friendly and thoughtful and you truly feel like you are staying in a 1st class resort. We would happily stay there again!

We had one the best ever experiences staying at this house. Carl and Rafa have gone out of their way to create a magical abode that goes well beyond expectations. Their attention to detail is unsurpassed and as a result makes for an incredible stay. They have thought of every little detail for their guests to be incredibly comfortable throughout the stay.
We had the opportunity to stay both in the suite on the first floor as well as the entire lower level during our stay and they both were superb.
The landscaping, outdoor space and spectacular bird life make this home a must visit. We will be booking it again next year.

We really enjoyed staying here while visiting with our kids and grandkids. The location was convenient and easy to find. The accommodations were very clean and comfortable. Very comfortable bed! We were a little worried that the birds would be noisy but we only heard them once we got up and started walking around each morning. They were very quiet at night, which is the only time we were really there. Gracious hosts - thanks for a perfect place to lay our heads each night!

This property was amazing and very quiet and calming. Cleanliness and attention to detail is an understatement. Carl had thought of everything from robes to a keurig available to my stay. Dropped my son off to college in Hartford and it was easy to get to and from this property. Extremely prompt with communication and check in. Would love to stay here again!

It's a great place to relax and is located close to popular West Hartford. A wonderful gem with a fantastic setting. The house is set at the end of a beautiful street in Bloomfield with easy access to route 91. Carl and Rafael are very thoughtful and go out of their way to make your stay comfortable.

Thanksgiving
My husband and I stayed at Carl's place while visiting our family in West Hartford. This was the perfect setup because we enjoyed the living quarters and morning coffee/breakfast before making the short drive to family. Carl's place is clean, beautiful, and comfortable. Perfect!

Every bit as nice as I remembered!
This was my second stay, which is perhaps all that needs to be said! One wonders if very high expectations can be met twice. They can. They were. The suite is comfortable, private, cleaner than my own home and lovingly decorated. Towels were fluffy (nothing like a thirsty, fluffy towel), bath “stuff” was organic, snacks were at the ready. In the unlikely event you need anything, the hosts do their best to accommodate — both of the hosts go above and beyond to take care of their guests. What more could anyone ask? This property truly is a rare find. I’m so happy to have found it!

Fantastic experience in Bloomfield. The space is the epitome of cleanliness and can best be described as palatial. More space and amenities than most hotels that charge 2-3x the price of this rental. Hosts are respectful and attentive. Be sure to say hi to the birbs!

There are not enough superlatives to describe this property and its hosts, Carl & Rafael. Work required me to be in CT for the month of July. I was so lucky to find this exceptional property.
The property description is spot-on accurate. It IS immaculate, beautifully decorated, and all the amenities are top notch and high quality. This home is in a lovely, family-oriented neighborhood and sits in a cul-de-sac at the top of a hill. At the entrance to the neighborhood is a beautiful, paved bike path, about 4 miles round-trip. It crosses a creek, and meanders among trees, wildflowers rocky crags. After working at a desk all day it proved to be a convenient and beautiful way to get fresh air and exercise.
Carl greeted me upon arrival, and he does help with luggage. He carried my 45 pound suitcase downstairs for me, and back up upon departure. My beautifully decorated living quarters included a private bedroom with Queen bed, black out shades and sound machine (got hooked on the sounds of waves). Plenty of hangars and drawer space, and a desk. The kitchenette more than served my needs and was stocked and restocked with coffee, cream, yogurt and more. The dishes, glasses and stemware were lovely. The bathroom had thick, plush towels…plus the luxurious terry robe! The living space with recliners and sofa was comfortable, and I often posted at the high-top table to eat and work. The set-up could not have been more amendable to my needs.
THE PATIO! A girlfriend described it as being like a Four Seasons resort, aviaries and all. I came to learn that Carl and Rafael did all the landscape design themselves, and in fact have won a well-deserved award for their efforts. I spent a considerable amount of time on the patio(covered and uncovered) enjoying the sound of trickling water and all manner of wildlife. The flowers and plantings…exquisite. No time or expense is spared on the patio and its upkeep. The patio was a quiet and tranquil setting where I enjoyed coffee, wine, yapping on the phone, and even work. Lucky for me the WiFi worked on the patio so I worked outdoors on a few occasions , even one day when it was raining. Carl was kind enough to offer an extension cord so I could plug in.
On the day of my departure I got a bit teary-eyed about leaving it all behind! This property was more than a home away from home. It really was resort living. I’m now pampered and spoiled. Thanks to you, Carl and Rafael.
