Location makes a great Basecamp for All the indoor and outdoor adventures of the mountains: hiking, waterfalls, Ziplining, white water rafting, canoeing, and kayaking limited only by your imagination. Located 8 miles from Asheville with exceptional local music, street fairs, History, museums, tours etc, Biltmore Estate, and eclectic downtown to shop local artists. Please see our Guests' comments.  The barn loft overlooks the farm and is roomy with queen bed, full size sleeper sofa, full kitchen, private deck on a gated property with horses, large pond and mountain views. I live here because I love the lifestyle and know you will be entranced. The host imposes no additional fees or charges. Any additional fees other than the listed prices are imposed by VRBO or state and county taxes. As hosts we provide clean, disinfected rooms and service, privacy and respect. In return, our guests care for and leave the cottage in good condition.

I highly recommend this charming cottage that we fell in love with. Stayed two nights with my kids (18 & 26 yrs), and we did not want to leave. Not only did it meet and surpass every need and expectation, it provided a uniquely refreshing experience that we want to return to. It’s rare that you find accommodations this special and that check every single box, at such an exceptional value.
Laurie, the owner/host, provided excellent directions and instructions complete with photos, so check-in went seamlessly. She respected our privacy, yet was just a text or phone call away and responded immediately when contacted.
The cottage was clean, open, and bright, and stocked with all the essentials one may need. We slept great; comfy beds and quiet, peaceful nights. You would never have known there were stables below, unless you already knew or saw them yourself. They were so neat and pristine with no unpleasant odors or noise from the equines, which were equally clean and very well taken care of. It was obvious that they are adored.
Laurie and her sweet four-legged helpers made us feel so warm and welcome. We were happy to meet her lovely Arabian horses and the handsome donkey, Mr. Eeyore. They were all so friendly and gentle-natured.
The large terrace provided the perfect vantage point to look out of and take in the breathtaking views. Being around the wonders of nature has a way of putting things into perspective, and gives you an exciting new energy to return home with.

The property was quiet and owners kept to themselves. They made everything easy for accessing the property, checking in, and checking out.
The small cottage was located within the second floor, of a barn/stable. It's perfect for a couple of friends. There was one small bedroom and a fold out couch in the main living area. A cozy gas fireplace and wall heater were provided. On a cold night, it can get chilly in the back bedroom, but extra blankets were also provided. The views outside and the property were beautiful. There was a pond, a pasture, a donkey, and the night sky was clear and great for viewing stars.
Overall it was a great place to stay for a few nights while traveling around Asheville and I would stay here again.

Fantastic place to stay! Rustic, beautiful atmosphere. So peaceful! Sitting on porch gazing at the full moon brought peace to our souls! Loved watching the beautiful horses, hearing Eeyore the donkey bray, and listening to the wild turkeys call on the hill. Adored the town of Leicester. Owner was outstanding, friendly and so helpful. Space was clean, warm and inviting. Felt very safe! We coupled this with Ziplining for the day at Navitat Canopy Adventures. The perfect bucket list getaway!!

The place is perfect for one or two people. The deck provides a beautiful view. The property owner was very helpful and responds quickly. It’s a short drive to a grocery store and downtown. I will definitely be back!

Perfect for two. Nice and quiet with great views. A treat to sit on the deck and soak it all in. It was the perfect place to come back to after a full day of adventures. Enjoyed meeting Laurie and her sister, and seeing the horses, cats, and donkey each day. Got a little treat when the farrier came and watched a little reshoeing of the horses.

Silent Acres exceeded our expectations and Laurie is a fantastic host! We enjoyed dinner on the deck while watching beautiful sunsets! The horses are beautiful and the donkey, Eeyore, is so cute! Laurie was very responsive while respecting our privacy. She gave excellent dining and recreation recommendations - the waterfalls at DuPont State Forest were spectacular!
The bed was comfy, the entire place was spotless, and the kitchen well equipped and stocked with essentials. We will stay longer when we come back!

We did not want to leave! The property was absolutely beautiful and peaceful. It is away from all the the crowds. Our house was above the horse barn and it was supplied with everything we needed. There were 2 beautiful and sweet Arabian horses that would run through the pasture at feeding time. There were sheep grazing on the hill behind us and roosters crowing in the mornings. The most entertainment was from thew donkey named Eeyore. He was hilarious ! Laurie and her 2 cats were wonderful host. We would stay again in a heartbeat.

This is a beautiful place to stay! The views are beautiful!! It’s so peaceful and quiet. Laurie, the host was absolutely wonderful. We helped her feed her 2 horses and donkey at feeding time. Just a wonderful person to talk to. She makes you feel welcomed. And makes sure that everything is good at your townhouse. We will be going back! It’s perfect for a couple’s getaway!

2 days was not enough! Quiet, relaxing, and peaceful with a deck overlooking pastures and a pond. Sunrise and sunset were fantastic and low light at night revealed a very starry sky. Fun to watch the animals in the pastures and I think they enjoyed watching us. The cottage was very comfortable, clean, and well equipped. Short drive to Asheville sites but far enough away to relax in the countryside. The host was very accommodating and gave excellent suggestions for dinning and siteseeing.

The view from the property is gorgeous. The host was kind and friendly plus she had very cute cats and horses. The house itself is simple but what we needed for our stay and we didn’t spend much time there anyways.

My husband and I recently bought land in Leicester. We will build in a few years. We wanted to experience staying in the same general environment that we will eventually live in. This wonderful cottage was exactly what we hoped! From the special directions on how to get there (in the middle of the night on mountainous roads!) to the quaintness of the home to the beautiful grounds to the serene quality of watching horses and a donkey play. What can I say? It was a slice of heaven. Thank you, Laurie for allowing us to share in your space.

Laurie’s place is very calming, a perfect getaway to rest and enjoy nature. We come often and we love the views from the porch while drinking our coffee in the mornings. Peaceful, quiet, serene, is the ambience here! We love our visits and anything you need is close by!

Our host was wonderful-full of information for us. Felt like staying with a friend. With the North Caroline mountains surrounding us at the cabin. Staying above the barn with the horses below was a wonderful experience. We are now so spoiled. Motel/hotel rooms are not a vacation. Being allowed to share where someone lives because they love it is so different then staying in a motel/hotel room with all the coming and goings of people. I can't say enough on how much we enjoyed our stay. We will be back often. When we left to check out the area we couldn't wait to get back to sit out on the patio and watch the birds, horses & donkey roam around the field. If you want peace and quiet it's here and if you want to go hiking or checking out the mountains/etc it's close by too. Olga Rita

My girlfriend and I absolutely loved this property. We traveled from Pennsylvania and found it easily after a long trip. We met the property owner, Laurie, and she was so welcoming to us. We would recommend this to anyone looking to get away and wanting a quiet place outside of Asheville. We would definitely look to return and stay here in the future!

Great, peaceful, quiet, private spot just outside Asheville and close to anything in the Smokies. Perfect for couples. Everything is exactly as advertised. Laurie is a sweetheart and an awesome host. Just wish we had stayed longer and spent more time on the farm.

Plenty warm even though it was quite cold outside. The deck is phenomenal and would be a great place to relax in the warmer months.

We did not get to meet Laurie but really had no needs that would have required it. Instructions for accessing the gate and entry were perfect. The barn loft apartment was comfortable and we especially enjoyed our visitors, barn cats, donkey and horses. Sunsets were beautiful. Amenities satisfactory. Really enjoyed being removed from city life!! Thank you!!

We had a great time staying on the farm! The views were beautiful and it was so quiet and peaceful. Two horses and a donkey roamed the property, which made our animal loving daughter’s heart happy. The host was amazing and made our stay very enjoyable. We will definitely be back!!

We had a great time on our weekend get away! Laurie was very nice and helpful with questions we had. Great location! It was not far from downtown Asheville or other amazing sites but was perfect to come back to for a quiet relaxing evening.
