About this bed and breakfast
Nestled in Asheville, this charming bed and breakfast for $95 per night is a great choice for your next trip. Ken and I offer a private mountainside retreat just 15 minutes drive from downtown Asheville and 8 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway which offers endless hiking trails, views, and waterfalls. Guests stay in a private bedroom, bathroom, hallway area separated from the shared space by a sliding "barn door." You are welcome to enjoy use of the back deck, kitchen, and living room (with wood burning fireplace). My husband and I are the only other people in the home. I also enjoy making breakfast for my guests when I am available (which is most of the time). There is a fire pit and also a lovely mountainside swimming pool available in season. God has blessed us with a beautiful home and we'd like to share it with you. Due to our moral standards we prefer that couples wanting to book in our home be married. However, an alternate option for you would be our LOFT where that rule is more flexible. To book this, go to VRBO #1123338 (see pictures # 11 - 17) This is a separate building on our property, private entrance, and is an additional $30 per night. Breakfast is still available most mornings.

Unique setting, house, and decor. Especially gorgeous views in the autumn with vibrant foliage on the mountains. Our hosts were gracious and willing to share conversation and homemade treats with us. The home was clean, comfortable, and cozy. Wonderful place to stay!

I wasn’t able to go to the mountain retreat due to a sudden illness, and had to cancel my visit at the last minute. I was very disappointed. But, due to Becky’s outstanding communication and kindness, I will reschedule my stay without hesitancy. She reads her emails and responds very quickly, so you always feel welcomed, well-informed, and connected. I travel often for work and don’t like surprises! Directions were sent the day before my planned arrival. After doing extensive research I feel this a very safe, secure, and beautiful place in a nice location and has a rate that is more than fair.

This was an extremely relaxing stay. The hosts were gracious and kind and made our visit in their home awesome. The location is about 15 minutes from the Biltmore Estate and Downtown Asheville making it just the right distance to be close to everything but far enough away that you can experience the calmness of the mountains. If we find ourselves in the area again we would definitely stay again!

Our stay with Ken & Becky was terrific! Their home and property were BEAUTIFUL, the space was made private and comfortable, the breakfast was delicious, and the opportunities for conversation with them was wonderful as well. Beautifully constructed home sitting on a ridge looking across to another ridge. Mother bear and her cubs were about. Slept with the windows open each night. Easy access to Asheville as needed. Wonderful well water to drink and shower in. Becky and Ken were great hosts and the breakfasts were wonderful. Would definitely stay here again with my wife.

The property was a bed and breakfast. The owners lived downstairs but spent some time talking to us to give us info about the property. They were personable and kind and friendly. The home was amazing as well as the view from the deck. We would choose this property to stay at if we went to Asheville to visit again.

The property was amazing, beautiful, clean, private, and conveniently located to everywhere we wanted to go. Becky and Ken were wonderful. They were very accommodating and personable. They did EVERYTHING to make our weekend getaway perfect. They even stayed up for us when our plane was delayed to make sure we made it in, could rent a car, and could find the house at 1:30 a.m. We highly recommend staying here. Hopefully we can come back and stay again.

The Swensons' Whimsical Mountain Retreat was simply splendid. It later occurred to me that it reminded me of Elrond's Rivendell in the Lord of the Rings. Basically, it's the kind of place that Elrond might have built as a getaway from all the hubbub of an Elvish stronghold. It is high up on the side of a small mountain, overlooking a secluded valley. Except for the Swensons' immediate neighbors, no other dwellings are even visible in any direction except for two structures at the top of an opposing ridge over a half-mile away. The air is clear, the trees on the mountain are beautiful, and the birds really don't want you to know about it. Our visit was all-too-short, but like all memories of Elven dwellings, the recollection of our stay will remain clear and sweet.
I should provide one warning for flatland visitors such as ourselves. Having never lived in mountainous regions, neither my wife nor I were at all comfortable traversing the upward serpentine road that brings you to the Swensons' home. We were continually astonished at how the local residents managed driving up and down the mountain roads like so many sure-footed mountain goats in 4-wheel-drive vehicles. I am sure that we irritated more than one local driver who had the misfortune to come up behind us as we tiptoed up and down those roads. So, come prepared to don your driving courage, or hire a local driver.

The hosts were absolute gems! Their communication was efficient and helpful. The suite we stayed in was nothing short of charming! The mountain decor made me feel completely at home. Breakfast with the hosts was also delightful as they are wonderful and so kind! Next time we come to Asheville we definitely will stay here again! :)
