COMFORT AND CONVENIENCE MAKE A MEMORABLE TRIP! This stunning, fully renovated and updated 1920s classic bungalow - The Conch Bungalow - captures the allure of the Sunshine State with bold, bright colors and pre-Disney roadside “kitsch” and souvenirs throughout. Upscale, modern furnishings are mixed with vintage tropical pieces, creating a comfortable retreat that your group will remember fondly, as much as you will the City’s many historic sites. Authenticity abounds at this relaxing home, with decorative touches throughout - 1940s satin Florida souvenir pillowcases showcasing long-forgotten tourist sites, old wooden fruit crates, oars and water skis on the walls, and amazing curio cabinets filled with vintage memorabilia, all perfectly blended with tropical rattan and bamboo furnishings, upholstered in cheerful patterns of retro-style bark cloth fabrics. Leave your car behind while staying at this prime vacation location! There’s plenty of parking for two vehicles, leaving you more time for exploring and no wasted minutes (or money!) searching for an inconvenient parking space. Aside from day trips to the nearby beaches just over the famous Bridge of Lions, almost all our Guests NEVER use their car once parked at the house! Situated on a quiet street and surrounded by houses built between the 1860s and 1930s, The Conch Bungalow is located just off San Marco Avenue, the main boutique/ restaurant street, with eclectic shops just a block away from the house’s front door. The house is only a few minutes’ stroll to the City's many downtown destinations: the famous Castillo de San Marco Fort, the Mission Nombre De Dios, Ripley’s-Believe-It-Or-Not, the Old Jail, Fountain of Youth, Lightner Museum, Flagler College, and other popular sites, plus many restaurants and small “locally owned” shops. Fully equipped with amenities galore for your comfort and privacy, the house can accommodate a MAXIMUM group of six, with three private bedrooms (two queen and one full – with Cool Gel/Foam Technology Serta Hybrid mattresses) all decorated in a vintage “Floridiana” style; bathroom with extra-deep soak tub and shower, two separate sinks, and handicap bars throughout room; an outdoors enclosed big, beach boardwalk-like outdoor hot/cold shower with bench; and an 8-foot-high privacy fence surrounding the yard. With a spacious living room, dining room, and den, your group will have ample areas to spread out indoors, or enjoy a cocktail hour out back on the rear deck, sheltered from the sun or rain by a large pergola, and equipped with a propane-charcoal grill. The classic bungalow front porch is a peaceful place for morning coffee or an afternoon book. Spend an evening at “home” enjoying the many books on old Florida, or watching the house copy of John Sayles' Florida flick “Sunshine State.” Preservation was a priority when restoring the house to the original character of the 1920s and Guests will notice top-of-the-line architectural details, including bungalow window moldings and tinted glass door handles, creating a look that exudes old Florida charm, while offering modern conveniences. Amenities include a touch-screen computer, WiFi, DVD, CD stereo, two flat screen televisions with expanded cable, Samsung washer/dryer, stainless appliances, thick bath and beach towels, comfortable linens, a fully equipped kitchen, AND a fragrance (animal-pet-smoke) free environment to the extent possible. Breathe comfortably - all linens and towels are washed in fragrance-free detergents, and no harsh chemicals are used when cleaning our home. Absolutely no animals are permitted on the property (aside from the occasional Blue Jay or squirrel who might play in the yard), making it a comfortable environment for Guests with allergies to dogs, cats or other critters. A note about our beds: Guests rave about them, telling us amusing stories about copying down the manufacturer label so they can research for their own home. And our pillows are just as great! Picture-perfect, private and comfortable, The Conch Bungalow is situated within the historic district, for a quick walk to the City’s most popular sites, and just a few minutes’ drive to St. Augustine or Villano Beach. The Conch Bungalow is a unique complement to your St. Augustine vacation. You are invited to experience the BEST in authentic Florida décor and ambiance that the Old City offers! The Conch Bungalow was awarded the Certificate of Improvement for revitalization by the City of St. Augustine's City Commission and Mayor. The Mayor’s letter accompanying the Certificate states “The efforts you have made during the course of the restoration and renovation of the property have definitely made a positive contribution to the Uptown Neighborhood and to St. Augustine. We appreciate your investment of time, money and talent.” NOTES: - A copy of the Guest's driving license will be required at the time a Reservation Request is accepted - If Guest is inviting anyone to visit the home other than the person included in the original Reservation Request, including overnight or day visitors, this will be disclosed to the Owner at the time a Reservation Request is first submitted. . - WE DO NOT PERMIT MOTORCYCLES, MOTORBIKES, PICK-UP TRUCKS, MONSTER TRUCKS, RV'S, BOATS, TRAILERS, OTHER OVERSIZE VEHICLES ON PROPERTY. This is due both to the noise concerns for our neighbors, as well as damages to our property and driveway including the potential for cracking of pavement, hitting driveway posts, and fence damage. If you have any such vehicle, please discuss with us PRIOR to making a reservation. Upon acceptance of Reservation Request, Guest will provide vehicle(s) Make/Model/Color to Owner, aligning with these guidelines. If rental car has been requsted, Guest will ensure that it does not fall under the category of Pick-up, etc. Any subsitutions must be requested in advance of Arrival Date and approved by Property Owner. If vehicles are outside these guidelines, Guests will be directed to utilize the public (fee-based) parking lot in town. - We cannot permit animals or pets on the property. A member of our family has severe allergies, and if the home has an animal brought into it, regardless of claims that the animal is "hypo allergenic", this leaves hair or dander on surfaces that it has walked on, sat on, or slept on, and creates not only a potentially grave health risk, but we must then arrange for additional professional cleaning of all furnishings and dry cleaning of bedding before we or any other Guest can occupy the home. Thank you for your understanding, rather than creating a difficult situation. - VRBO/HomeAway software does not provide a means for Home Owners to block dates in such a way as to differentiate between Home Owner's use, and Rental Reservations by Guests. Thus, dates on calendar that show as blocked may include dates during which our own family/friends are using the house, and not actual Rental Reservations by Guests. If there are dates you are interested in that show as blocked, feel free to inquire of us if they might still be available. If our own plans are flexible, we may be able to work with you! City of St. Augustine has regulations in place regarding STRs, meant to ensure the safety of Guests, and the peace of neighborhoods. Some of these relate to minimum length of stays, or number of stays per 7-day period. Please contact us if any questions.

But a bit sketchy of a street/spot. Loud bikes and partiers at night; don't think I would walk alone there. House backs right next to the McDonalds at corner of Rt. 1 and I can imagine staying there in summer could be a different experience because the McDonalds garbage is right there. Owner/property manager does a lovely job however creating an enclave, the decor is so fun and we made a game of counting all the Fla. panthers! Everything was so super clean and the beds and everything else comfortable. It would have been nice to have a few clothes washer pods on hand and I think a few more kitchen staples might be nice. We did finally find a salt and pepper shaker on hand hidden behind one of the cabinet separators and appreciated the one roll of papertowels that went quickly because no kitchen rags available. A baking pan, standard 9x11, would be a good addition and a few more eating utensils. Cooking utensils could also use a refresh. Small size aluminum file and saran wrap to help guests put stuff away or replace oven lining, for example might also be nice. Most people might not care about this stuff though because this was a lovely place to stay and a pleasant walk to all sites that was much more affordable than a downtown area hotel. I am sure I would stay again with my family if we had the chance to visit the area again! Thank you!

If we could leave 10 stars, we would! Conch Bungalow is a lovely house, and Annette was the most welcoming of hosts. She thought of everything to make us feel at home, from the carefully curated decor to helpful signage and coffee pods in the kitchen. Annette clearly cares about her guests and understands hospitality better than most. The neighborhood and location were great too! We had a wonderful time in St. Augustine, especially thanks to where we stayed. Thank you, Annette! We’ll be back!
