The Cozy Chalet in Gallatin Range -Warm and Inviting Mountain Chalet
About this chalet rental
Situated in Big Sky, this charming chalet for $340 per night is a great choice for your next break. Please review several helpful items and FAQ at the end of this description This property was the model for the Firelight Meadows Chalets. It is a beautifully decorated corner unit that has large windows with natural light and views. This chalet has a master bedroom with a king bed, a second bedroom with a queen and a twin, and a first-floor bedroom. The third bedroom has a queen bed and can be closed off as a master suite. There are a total of three full baths. Each room has a TV and there is Direct TV as well as Wi-Fi and high-speed internet. There is a hot tub on the back patio. Stacked firewood is in the garage for use in the wood burning stone fireplace. This chalet is along Ousel Falls Road. It is a quiet location and just down the street from the rapidly growing town center with great restaurants, shops, and a movie theater. The golf course and the meadow community are very close as well and offer activities year-round. The mountain community is 15 minutes by car or shuttle. There is a shuttle schedule which can be accessed online. There is a walking trail right across the street that takes you up to the Ousel Falls trailhead and down all the way to the canyon highway. Big Sky is one of the largest ski areas in the country and offers something for everyone. Winter activities include world famous skiing, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and snowmobiling. Fun family night excursions can include a trip up the mountain to a cozy cabin for dinner and music, or sleigh rides at Lone Mountain ranch just two miles up the road. Summer is also a great season to visit. You can find an abundant amount of hiking trails in the area as well as around Bozeman and along the Canyon Drive. Other activities include kayaking, mountain biking, river rafting, golfing and zip lining. We are only 40 miles from the West Yellowstone Park entrance. There are many great drives thru the park and around the local area. Most traveler’s fly into Bozeman. Shuttle service is available from the airport and shuttle services are provided throughout Big Sky. However, a vehicle is recommended. Having your own transportation gives you the ability to explore along the Canyon Drive and get you to Yellowstone Park. We know there are many wonderful places to stay in Big Sky as well as along the canyon highway. We have been very comfortable in our Big Sky retreat and if you decide to spend a few days at the chalet it will be comfortable for you as well, and we will work with you to make it a great experience. We provide a lot more information about the area in our welcome package if you are inclined to stay at the chalet. We do go thru the VRBO site exclusively for bookings and payments. The site should list the going nightly rates. Please be aware that acceptance includes the terms outlined in the rental agreement. IMPORTANT DETAILS: Breakdown of cost: The fee breakdown includes the nightly rates, a cleaning fee, taxes collected by VRBO, and a service charge collected by VRBO. The Cleaning fee is dependent upon market demand. There is also a refundable damage deposit listed under the damage section. Transportation: Having your own vehicle is preferable. The big sky area has had a significant increase in traffic and there has been issues with finding overnight parking. There is parking for the ski slopes with free shuttle service. During the holidays though the parking lots fill quickly. From the chalet it is about a 15-minute drive to the mountain village. Shuttle service: go to skylinebus.com for all schedules. Skyline provides transportation from Bozeman to Big Sky and down the canyon (191). Big sky connect is a relatively new service that kind of works like uber. It is free and currently only operates thru an app. You can download this app from the apple store or android store. This service was started in the 2023 season. The bus stop just outside our chalet no longer has a stop to the mountain top. Start your trip by going to big sky connect and the driver will pick you up at the chalet and drop you at the town center and from there the trip is about 15-20 minutes to the top. After you ski day load the direct bus to the town center and then on your app connect to big sky connect. buses usually run on the hour but best to take a photo of the canyon to mountain and mountain to canyon for times. your stops are mountain village and town center. Rentals: There are a lot more skiers on the mountain since Big Sky has accepted the IKON pass. The mountain is big enough to accommodate but you should book your rentals in advance as well as any lessons or ski school or day care. The area has run out of rentals on busy days. Dining: Same goes for dining. Should be booked in advance if there are particular restaurants you wish to go to. Garbage disposal: There is a trash compacter you may want to use if your stay is long. Just take Candlelight Meadow Drive across starlight heading towards the condos and then turn right. You will see a maintenance building and there is a trash compacter in the back lot. Garbage can be bagged and left in the garage for cleaning crew to remove upon departure Parking availability has been an issue. We have a parking pass inside and a second pass. You can place these on your dash during your stay and return them. there is the driveway for one vehicle. street parking is not allowed. There are other parking sites but they do fill up later at night. This has been an issue for some of our guests that have two or three vehicles. Unfortunately that is out of our control and you may realize the parking in many busy ski resorts always an issue The chalet is equipped with many family friendly features. There are games, pack n play, high chairs and any equipment in site is free to be used Finally we have tried to make your experience fun. Unexpected events may happen so please call Sarah or Robert. I have family in the area and our neighbor next door as well as a property manager should something unexpected happen requiring attention

We loved staying in this beautiful home. It was very clean, the kitchen was well stocked, and there is plenty of room with the three bedrooms and bathrooms. We also enjoyed soaking in the hot tub after a day of skiing.

Great place to stay with a few friends for easy access to Big Sky skiing and mountain village. Kitchen well equipped and loved the hot tub.

Robert/Sarah's communication was on point. The chalet was a great spot to come back to after a day on the slopes. Would stay there again!

Great place for skiing Big Sky! Accommodations were perfect for our family group of 5 adults. The beds were comfy and the place had everything we needed. The hot tub was perfect after a day of skiing and having a fire in the fireplace to end the day. Would definitely stay here again.

This property is immaculate, well stocked, and beautiful. The property was exactly as described in the listing. We hope we have an opportunity to stay here again in the future.

There were 4 people and all enjoyed the property. The property was clean and as advertised. After the stay I advised the property manager that 2 blinds in different bedrooms did not operate and there was a smell in the master bedroom walk-in closet. One item that is important is there is only room for 1 car to park and no nearby public parking.

Spacious comfortable nicely furnished and decorated townhome. Enjoyed the bike/walking path across the road from the townhome. Could walk to Town Center or Ousel waterfall. We did get a rental car at the airport. Which was suggested in the listing and I do agree. The only thing I would have liked was an outside grill. We cooked a lot of our meals at the townhome. We were throughly impressed with how stocked the fridge and pantry was. Check it out before you go buy your food. The kitchen was great for cooking our meals. We definitely will book again.

Thank you for sharing the home with us. It was in a wonderful location, quiet, but easy access to the town and trails. Well equipped kitchen, laundry room, and remainder of home. A couple of hikes can easily be accessed by short walk. Beautiful town… Beeehive basin trail 40 definitely worthwhile and lots of good restaurants near by

Our trip was amazing to visit Yellowstone National Park and stay at this beautiful awesome house. The house had all the ammenties as well as beautiful furnishings and very comfortable beds. It seemed like there were festivals and activities every evening in Big Sky with things to see, live music (outside) to listen too in a very beautiful setting. We would highly recommend this rental / gracious hosts to our family and friends!

We had a great time at the property. Very clean, excellent correspondence. The location and views can’t be beaten. Would totally stay there again!!!

This townhouse has it all. Very clean and spacious. Well appointed kitchen with everything you need, including spices. Well stocked with paper products as well. There is a Keureg and a Coffee Maker (we hide not see this in the listing amenities) and there were some coffee supplies as well. Check out the condo to see what is there before shopping at the Country Market. Sarah and Robert were very responsive to our inquiries and sent a maintenance person right out when we had a small issue.
The garage fits a small SUV nicely. We were so busy we never tried the fireplace, but there was plenty of wood and it looked lovely. Enjoy the hot tub every evening with a glass of wine and enjoy the Mountain View!
The entry way bench and hooks are very handy and there are even ski hangers in the garage.
If you are heading up to ski, we found the free carpool lot was very convenient and just a short tram ride will drop you off in the village. There are also free boot bag cubbies in the basement of the Exchange building if your driver does not want to fight to get those ski boots on in the snowy parking lot. We also recommend the Grizzly Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone. The Riverhouse BBQ was great, but get there early to get a table.
We could not have had a better week. It is so nice to have a bathroom for each bedroom and this townhouse is very spacious. The laundry room was very nice as well. We hope to stay here again for our next Big Sky Adventure!

Great space for a family of 4-6. Kitchen very well-equipped for family meals at home. We enjoyed convenience to mountain, private hot tub, and proximity to Town Center. Felt very homey. We would absolutely return in the future!

We very much enjoyed our stay here. It was a great location for a ski weekend (we drove each day and parked at the mountain, though it looked like there was a shuttle stop nearby). The neighborhood is not walkable, but is a very short drive into the village for food/drinks/groceries. The house was fully stocked which made cooking a breeze, and having a private hot tub on site was a huge perk. We were only a couple so there was ample space, but it would definitely work for a larger group using all bedrooms, with a sizable common space. Would definitely recommend!

Wonderful place. Has everything you need. Most impressed are the cooking utensils. First place that I have rented in the past 15 years that the non-stick frying pans are actually non-stick. Great for frying eggs for bfast.

The condo was fine but not exceptional and we’ve done better in Big Sky in the past. On the positive, it’s priced fairly and offers 3 bedrooms and bathrooms which was great for 3 couples. A couple of things need work though; the blinds in one room didn’t work, there’s a huge family portrait above the fire place staring down at you and instructions for the hot tub couldn’t be found. I asked the owner for them but they never replied. Everything thing else was as advertised.

Unit:
The place was very nice and as posted in the listing. Clean, new appliances in large kitchen, good sized bedrooms, private hot tub, firewood, dehumidifiers, etc. They even had some unused condiments (and booze) from other guests. Surprised to see that. Really everything you’d need for a small group and perfect for my family of 4 with two teens.
Location:
This place would have been 5 stars all around but I gave it 4 for location as you need to have your own transportation to and from town center and skiing (especially in winter as it’s much too far to walk). The original ski shuttle stop doesn’t stop at the complex anymore. There is a new, free, on-call service (called Big Sky Connect) which we tried but the wait was too long to be practical. On that point and to be fair, it was a holiday weekend so maybe the non-holiday wait times would be much shorter making the service more practical. And to be clear - this IS NOT THE FAULT OF THE HOSTs, I’m just posting for others. The owners let us know after we had booked so we were prepared for that.
Overall:
Great vacation. The word is definitely out about Big Sky. If you don’t want to stay on the mountain with the crazy markup for slope side accommodations, this place was great and I’d highly recommend.

It was a lovely home to stay in. Easy to check in and out. The home is close to town and skiing. There is wonderful hiking at the Ousel Falls Trail (it made a beautiful night hike).
We were very grateful to have stayed in such a wonderful home.

Loved it! Spacious & cozy! The local shuttle was unexpectedly stopped & the owners relayed their displeasure with that new development & graciously compensated appropriately. It was especially appreciated since the senior non-skiers were relying on it for transportation to enjoy the area. The extra heaters in the lovely home were very welcome in the cold snap that hit us upon arrival. Loved all of it! Great hosts & great communication!

We stayed at this property in early September and enjoyed the spacious interior (4 occupants with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms) as well as the hot tub. The property was clean, the location was a short drive to the village and to some great hikes, and we all had a great time. The property was well stocked with cooking ware and toiletries and the owner was very responsive. We would highly recommend this rental property.

Excellent - Cannot Recommend Enough!
I would absolutely recommend this property, and my family and I would stay here again if we ever traveled back to Big Sky. From initial inquiry & booking through our checkout day, everything was great!
I messaged back and forth with Sarah, who was extremely responsive, helpful, detailed, and kind. She answered all my questions promptly and was very flexible when we had a date change.
In terms of the property itself, it was clean, comfortable, and stocked with all necessities. There wasn’t one time when we said, “darn, I wish they had a…” because it really had everything. In fact, we kept saying, “wow - they thought of everything!” The kitchen, all appliances, bathrooms, bedrooms, hot tub (everything!) was immaculate. You could tell right away the owner takes great pride in their home.
There were 6 of us staying at this property with two SUVs and not once did we feel cramped or have parking issues. We would absolutely stay here again. Fantastic owners and fantastic property!

Fantastic property
Spent a long weekend here with the family and enjoyed 2 days of skiing at Big Sky. This is a great location, just outside of town and a quick, easy drive to the resort. Includes everything you need for a great stay. We enjoyed the woodburning fireplace and hot tub after long days of skiing. Well stocked kitchen made evening meal prep a breeze. The property manager provided all the details we needed. Would gladly return and stay here again.

Super easy process to check in and out. Great location, each bedroom has its own bath which is a plus. It’s very accurately depicted in the photos, you get what you see. The cleanest vacation rental I have ever stayed in. Owners were prompt with communication but stayed out of our way. Will come back again.
