About this cottage rental
Permitted Homestay: Artist owned and designed, two story cottage sanctuary. One bedroom, w/ bathroom and a kitchen. Single bed/reading loft is above kitchen area. In a quiet neighborhood, cottage is within walking distance of Haywood Road's Owl Bakery, The Admiral, Asian and pizza restaurants, a five minute walk to Carrier Park that runs along the French Broad River and two miles from downtown. River Arts district is a 5 minute drive or 30minute walk. Cottage captures elements of Mediterranean and France. One of a kind and built 4 years ago, this space is a true retreat while visiting Asheville. Kitchen has coffee maker, french press, coffee and creamer. The cottage has air conditioning and heating. The bedroom with a queen size bed is upstairs along with a bathroom and shower. A sinhke bed is downstairs above kitchen table. Off street parking is possible if that is a preference. I leave coffee and creamer for each guest. Two cats named Rue and Ginko may wander around your entrance looking for an ear scratch.

My wife and I enjoyed one night in this small home bursting with personality. We stayed a Saturday night and the neighborhood remained quiet and it’s an easy drive or Uber into downtown. Thank you!

I was over the moon to discover this beautiful property was just as described. Every detail was thoughtfully placed from the beautiful smelling hand soap, the varieties of delicious teas, and the beautiful blankets and pillows. When you walk in you immediately feel at home and relaxed. I especially loved my visits from Rue the cat. I can't wait to come back in warmer weather and enjoy the outdoor spaces. Do not miss this beautiful oasis with so much to see nearby!

The cozy house was very clean and close to downtown Asheville without being too close. Communication was easy and we enjoyed everything about our stay. Will definitely stay again.

This was the perfect place to stay for my first time in Asheville. The place was the ideal size for my and my boyfriend. It was centrally located to everything we had planned and took less than 10 minutes drive to each place we visited. My only recommendation to those staying during winter might be to bring an extra portable heater for winter nights.

We loved everything about this place. It was beautifully decorated, unique, very clean and had everything you could need. The location was perfect, and we loved the resident cats! Highly recommended!

Next time I visit Asheville, I will try to book here! The cottage and yard is wonderfully designed. My husband and I were admiring how the interior design and decor matched with the overall style of the house. The neighborhood was quiet and cozy. We enjoyed reading books in the rock garden next to the cottage.

My daughter and I stayed at this charming place during her Lacrosse tournament. It was great! Our host was friendly and helpful and the property is so beautiful! It’s boarder line magical! So many nice touches and beautiful art work inside. I highly recommend this place!

The house was perfect! Camille has done a wonderful job with the property as a whole. It truly is a retreat right in the heart of Asheville. There was clearly a lot of thought and care given to the cottage and it truly feels like home. Camille was a great host. Very kind, and very informative of the locale. I would stay there for weeks if I could. Can’t recommend this place enough and will definitely be returning.

We absolutely loved our stay and can’t wait to come back again! The owner is so communicative and helpful with recommendations. There are also two sweet cats who greet you, which we loved. 😊
The space itself is so quaint and cozy. It’s probably one of the most unique rentals we’ve ever stayed in. You can tell a lot of time was spent decorating and making the place what it is today. So lovely!

Ginko and Rue, the two guard cats, really made the trip for us. They waited by the door for us to leave every day and we’re extra cute and cuddly. The property was perfectly maintained, expertly appointed and lavishly designed. We will stay here any time we’re back in AVL.

I am not a fan of all the various fees and taxes (LOTS of line items), it would be nice if vrbo provided "rolled up" cost estimates while searching (obviously this has nothing to do with this rental, which was great). I mean, they must have a pretty good idea of the extortionarily high [<-<< new word!] taxes the localities (such as Ashville) place upon these vrbo service providers. It would be great if they exposed it during the search...just to be able to stay in budget. For example: This was basically a three night stay (checked in Friday night, checkout out Monday morning) and I figure the difference between the listing price and the soup-to-nuts price is the equivalent to another day and a half of the actual listing price.

The Mermaid Cottage was even more magical in person. We had an amazing stay and loved every detail of the home. It’s in a great location in West Asheville and Camille provided many local suggestions to try. We can’t wait to come back!

It was the perfect location, minutes from RAD and all of the West Asheville awesomeness. Camille was a great host, very helpful in finding great places in the area and Ginko & Rue were fantastic morning/evening greeters :) The space is small so I wouldn’t recommend more than a couple staying but it had everything we needed and was perfect for our trip.

The cottage was cozy, clean and very quaint. We had a great time and would stay there again. The kitchen has all the essentials to cook a light meal or make a cup of tea and enjoy it by the fire pit. Very relaxing!

My bestfriend and I met here for a girls weekend (we live in different states) and because of the pandemic hadn't been able to see each other the past couple of years. The mermaid cottage was the perfect spot for our reunion. I kid you not, we said "this place is so cute" over 20 different times. It's close to everything! There's a great breakfast spot that is walkable (we did it twice). Camille left a sweet welcome card and a nice note with all sorts of recommendations within the area (both food and entertainment wise). The neighborhood was quiet and the property itself is soooo peaceful.

Our stay at Camille's cottage was great. Having never been to Asheville our days were packed with new adventures and the cottage was a great home base. A short drive to all the sights in and around Asheville and a pleasant walk to amazing West Asheville restaurants. Though every evening brought us closer to our inevitable return to reality, we always smiled when we returned each night to the cozy cottage to rest our weary legs and enjoy a few games of mancala!

We had a lovely stay at the Mermaid Cottage and highly recommend a visit! There is beauty in every inch and such attention to detail. We found it to be incredibly comfortable, convenient to great, local spots (we especially loved The Owl) and thoroughly enjoyed the indoors and outdoors. Perfect place to stay to inspire creativity and connect with your inner artist.
