About this lodge
Located in Oklahoma, this attractive lodge for $356 per night is a fantastic choice for your next trip. Relax in luxury and Texas scenic comfort with your family and friends at Nocona Lodge, on the Rim of Palo Duro Canyon. Named for the Comanche Chief Warrior, Peta Nocona (Quanah Parker’s father). Native American and Southwestern artwork integrated throughout the 2500 sq ft of open living space. Nocona is one of the largest Vacation Rentals in the Area, and at the doorsteps of Palo Duro Canyon State Park. Living/dining/bar area will seat a large group, without the addition of any additional chairs. Great for family or friends' getaway. Very comfy leather Recliners and oversized chair/recliner to enjoy the game or woodburning fireplace. Backyard entertaining with shaded seating/lounging for 6-10. Large Infrared Gas Grill for your Texas barbecues. Relax knowing your children and pets are secure in the open fenced back yard, with incredible views of the nation's second largest Canyon. Enjoy the visiting deer, aoudad (barbary sheep), coyotes; and numerous birds who frequent the unique/custom birdfeeder. House strategically positioned to enjoy afternoons and evenings on the shaded backyard patio. View fantastic Canyon color changes during sunset al fresco dining. PICKLEBALL COURT Because Pickleball is so easy to learn and play--it is now fastest growing and most popular sport in the US. Great family activity which requires little skill or athleticism. SANDBOX And for the toddlers--there is a VERY Large sand pit inside the gated back yard. Rackets, pickleballs, basketball and sand-play toys provided. Cozy front porch papasan swing enourages cuddling during morning coffee or evening cocktails. Share the quiet serenity of sunrise/sunset with the docile herd of Texas Longhorn Cattle grazing next door. 3 Bedrooms sleep 8 IN BEDS--none of this crashing on a couch or mattress on the floor! For sleeping under the stars, there is double chaise lounge on back patio. Oversized Master bedroom with handcrafted copper/wood King bed and luxurious custom bedding. Master Bath with large soaking bathtub, shower, and double sinks. Second bedroom with beautiful hand-carved Southwest Queen bed. Ample storage, rocking chair, and Canyon view. Bunkbed room next door has 2 double beds with stable built-in steps (no ladder), so can be accessed by anyone from toddlers to "mature" guests. Brightly decorated with corner desk, TV/DVD, and child-proof ceiling fan. Comfortable beds for young or old, who will also enjoy waking up to the Canyon view. All bedrooms have Smart TV's and Direct TV cable service. Wi-Fi throughout. Kitchen has every amenity for any gourmet cook or "trail boss". Induction Range, large microwave, crockpot, griddle, 3 coffeemakers (Keurig, 10 cup drip, French press), Soda Stream machine, high end cutlery, numerous spices, all cooking staples, toaster oven, non-breakable dinnerware for younger guests, teapot, etc. Functional bar area, with every cocktail glass preferred by those aspiring mixologists (wine/martini/highball/margarita/moscow mule). Parking for 2 vehicles in the oversized garage--especially appreciated during hot Texas summers, Winter snowstorms, and during those occasional sensational Texas Panhandle thunderstorms. Nocona Lodge, pays homage to Chief Quanah Parker Nocona, the last of the Quahada Comanche warriors who dominated the High Plains in the 1800's. Battle of Palo Duro Canyon was @ 20-miles east in September 1874. This battle brought an official end to the U.S./Indian wars, and the eventual peace that finally allowed settlers to occupy this last remaining freedom-outpost of “uncivilized” land in North America. Price listed is for 6 Guests of ANY AGE. For 7-8 guests, add on $50/night, per guest. MAXIMUM 8 Guests (Adults/Children). **Since majority of our guests have only 2-4 in their group, have kept our rates considerably lower ($100-$300/night less) than other 3-bedroom properties in the area. So groups of 8 will pay the competitive rate for Palo Duro Canyon Rim properties.

Great property and hosts! Truly outstanding!

Beverly and Phillip are amazing hosts. Their home is beautiful and comfortable set in the stunning scenery of the canyonlands of the Texas panhandle complete with jaw-dropping sunrises and sunsets. (If you visit, you will understand that these adjectives are appropriate!) We are into food and the kitchen is the most well-equipped of any we have used.
The home is so well located: 5 minutes from Paloduro Duro State Park, close to Canyon with the all-encompassing Plains Panhandle Museum, 1.5 hours from Caprock Canyons State Park and a mile-long host list of other activities we could not fit in.
Fantastic stay! Many thanks to Beverly and Phillip for the hospitality and for sharing their home!

Excellent care and service by Beverly. She really went above and beyond to provide not only everything we needed, but extra touches. She made fresh guacamole, left wine, cookies, snacks and plenty of firewood, starter kits, etc. She was there to greet us and spent an hour showing our team where everything was. Beverly was responsive to any questions we had during our stay. There were SO many extras with this unit including games in the garage, a smoker and of course the pickleball court was over the top! I would go back in a heartbeat!

Took 4 friends to the canyon and loved the place! Excellent location to the park and everything was clean and organized for a hassle free stay.

Loved, loved, loved the house. Location is just 5 minutes from Palo Duro Canyon State Park. The home is decorated in southwest style, was very comfy and very well-stocked. We were even allowed to park in the garage. The highlight was the Aoudad Sheep that came to visit each day. Well, they really came to be fed, but that was part of the fun. Our host was exceptional. She met us at the property, showed us around and even served us margaritas, guacamole and chips. She went over and above any host I have ever had.

This house exceeded our expectations! Beverly went above and beyond! From the spicy margaritas to the homemade guacamole delicious!! Kids had had a blast riding bicycles, pickle ball (for the first time) to cornhole!
You can’t forget the amazing views!! All being Minutes from the state park!!

Just returned from a few days overlooking Palo Duro Canyon in the Texas panhandle. Nacona Lodge is the perfect place to do that. The kitchen os stocked with anything a visiting group might need. The beds are extremely comfortable. Everything works. But the best part is that the hosts are the BEST hosts you could ever want. We had plenty of information to enjoy the area and we had hosts who wanted our stay to be the best. I highly recommend Nacona Lodge and Palo Duro Canyon.

Great return trip to Nocona. Beverly is a wonderful host. Greeted us with guacamole and margaritas! Home is comfortable, stocked with whatever you may need, and nicely decorated. We enjoyed visiting barbary sheep and birds - very peaceful. Enjoyed the Texas musical, canyon jeep tour, and Midpoint Cafe on route 66. Honey buzz winery was great too. Next trip, hope to tour the local museum and get back to local shops. Thanks again for a great trip!

Fabulous time for all. Palo Duro is breathtaking. We took a keep tour, saw the musical in the park, visited Caprock canyon and saw Bison, prairie dogs and roadrunners. Best of all sitting and relaxing on patio and watching the views, feeding the aodad sheep, mule deer and birds! Beautiful home decorated perfectly. And….the beds were wonderful. Beverly met us and greeted us with homemade margaritas and guacamole. She made the experience! Thank you Beverly!

Just as advertised! Hosts bent over backwards to assist with activities and ideas for family with unfortunate park trail closures due to rain. We still found lots of fun activities around and at the house. Will defiantly recommend and come back.

Everything about Nacona Lodge was what we had hoped for, and even more! Beverly communicated before our stay and checked in on us during the stay. She left delicious homemade treats for us to serve our guests on our first night. It was easy to see that her attention to our comfort and enjoyment was a high priority. I so hope we can stay with her again!!

Very well appointed with luxury level appliances and gadgets and lots of space. Plenty of basics if you forgot something (shampoo, lotion, etc.). Most importantly - the backyard and porch with multiple windows that overlook all (slight view of Palo Duro Canyon). Very peaceful. The most birds I have ever seen and heard. Sheep came to eat once or twice per day. Very relaxing. LOVE the Canyon. Beverly called before the trip and discussed our preferences and provided many links to sights and information. She and her husband greeted us and had guacamole. We will stay again if in the area.

We rented this home for a week. There was not one thing we could have wished for! The kitchen is equipped better than my home. ; ). It was the perfect place to stay. The view of Palo Duro Canyon was great. Palo Duro State Park was 10 minutes away. Auodads visited daily and Beverly had us supplied with treats for them. Beverly was an amazing Host. She gave us many options to visit while in the area. If you visit, these were the options we chose from Beverly's suggestions:
1. Big Texan Steak House.
2. Panhandle-Plains museum
3. Creek House Honey Farm. They give tours starting in May, but worth a stop for mead slulshies!
4. Bar Z winery. Make an online res and try the Un-Rose
We also hiked in Palo Duro. GSL was the group fav.
Caprock Canyon State Park is also an hour and half away...well worth a visit for a day trip.
I have to say that Beverly made this trip a joy. The home is everything and more that you would want in a VRBO...or your own home. Enjoy the visit and the Host with the most, Beverly!

The attention to detail in the home is amazing - from art to organization of the kitchen, to literature and information provided. We were all very comfortable - the linens and towels were of good quality - as were the plush bath robes. I said we wouldn't use them - but we did! The kitchen was stocked with items you hate to buy for a short vacation (like mayo, ketchup, spices). Beverly even provided Easter treats for the grandkids, as well as margaritas (not for the kids), chips and queso. Feeding the aoudad sheep was a special treat for the kids. This home is clearly loved and we are thankful the owners are sharing it for others to enjoy their little piece of heaven.

Three days we'll always treasure. We traveled to Canyon for hiking and pickleball. The Nocona lodge had everything we could ask for and more. Relaxing at the house we had great views of Sunrises and on the evening scores of various wildlife. We were extremely impressed with all the beautiful details at Nocono lodge from art work to a full on kitchen. The full pickleball court was a blast. I suggest you check on weather concerning winds as that made it unpredictable. Beverly the host gave us great suggestions and information which enhanced our stay.

Can’t say enough about this place, it was perfect for all 7 of us. Beverly greeted us upon check in and explained the operations of the house. She even left us fresh guacamole and queso with an assortment of chips and popcorn. The kitchen was better stocked with spices than my own. The beds were comfortable and we never ran out of hot water for 7 showers. There’s games and books and even a pickle ball court! The best part was the scenery from the back porch. The wild goats came right up to the back fence which was quite the sight to see. We had a wonderful, relaxing vacation and appreciated the location close to Palo Duro.

Nacona Lodge was the perfect place to unwind and reset while celebrating our wedding Anniversary coupled with a family getaway. Beverly is an exceptional host, offering several suggestions of things to do in the area. A lovely property that makes you truly unwind. The views of Paulo Duro Canyon are stunning and it was a thrilling experience interacting with the Auodad. We love this place!!

Recharged and rested now thanks to your wonderful home and incredible hospitality. No detail missed.
Woke up each morning watching incredible sun rises over the canyon while still in bed. So quiet there; not even animal sounds - just pure peace. No light pollution so the stars each night were so bright.
We have traveled many places and stayed in countless VRBOs. This place easily is one of our top 5 places to stay and we hope to return often. Dishwasher pods and paper towels were not rationed out here like in some rentals. We felt like family and were treated like long time friends.
Remarkable experience. Just so wonderful. Thank you for the memories and the re-set my husband and I needed. My husband loved the wood fireplace, I enjoyed watching the birds dance every morning and our four boys loved the pickleball, scooters and feeding the sheep! ❤️

The Nocona Lodge at Palo Duro was an excellent place to stay! My sisters and I enjoyed a hiking trip to Palo Duro, and it did not disappoint. The Nocona Lodge was right at the canyon and had excellent views. It was well organized and Beverly thought of everything that a visitor might need on their stay. Even the kitchen cupboards were labeled so that you knew where everything went so that you could find it and put it away in the right place. She greeted us with snacks and margaritas, and gave us a lot of insider tips (like shopping for meat at West Texas A&M Agricultural Sciences department). I would highly recommend Nocona Lodge and the Canyon, Texas area for a vacation. If you have time, a trip over to Caprock Canyons State Park is also excellent for hiking. It's about 90 minutes away, and worth the trip.

Nocona Lodge was a perfect place to stay for our visit to Palo Duro Canyon. We had a great view of the canyon and the park was very close so that we visited every day to hike the various trails. The home has everything you could ever need in the kitchen and otherwise for a stay away from home. Thanks to our hosts for sharing their home.
