The Porthole is a beautiful home and with a picturesque location! Greeted on our second day with two Does and two fawns grazing around the property, which just added to the experience. Walking distance to the beech. Close in to other restaurants and shopping as well. This was a short break to get out of the heat wave in Portland. Very much appreciated the cooler weather and long walks in the beech! Communications good throughout, from booking to check out. Hope to be back at some point. Thank you!

Even though there were a few minor inconveniences, there was nothing specific enough to keep me from booking this property again. I was under the impression this property was a little closer to the beach but it wasn't too bad. Overall my family had a great time and I would consider booking again in the future.

Great view, rooms were odd, and kitchen table was hard to use as it is attached to the wall and everyone had to move to let the person close to the wall out. Ran out of toilet paper and didn’t want to contact management for tp. Over all it was great. View was awesome, hot tub was great and getting to the beach wasn’t to bad. Parking was a little difficult/tricky, especially if you have a low profile car.

Lovely sunsets and a quick walk to the beach made this a great place to stay!

This house has character with it's ship/marine design and style - even the kitchen feels like a galley on a ship. There are modern improvements in the kitchen, bathroom and laundry room which include newer tile floors and granite counters. The beds were a bit soft and might need to be upgraded. We didn't feel like we were missing anything when cooking and there's good storage for the food you bring. The upstairs does get warm when it's sunny but they have good shades on all the windows, ceiling fans and a portable fan that helped cool the living room down in the afternoon/evening. Hot tub was nice and had a good location to view the ocean - we enjoyed a fire in the firepit on the lower patio which was lovely in the evening. The only disappoint that we didn't expect was we couldn't see the sunset from the house...there are a bunch of tall trees that block the view of the sunset. You are able to see it if you walk out on to the road or are on the beach during sunset. As for the walk to the beach - it's a slightly steep walk down the street once you come off the gravel road the house is on. Not sure if we would stay here again only because of not being able to see the sunset, which is the one thing we really enjoy seeing when we're at the beach, and also because of the steep downhill to get to the beach...older family members need to have an easier access. Other than that, everything was nice and we got to see deer multiple times over the weekend:)

The home was comfortable and peaceful. We are all elderly ladies with various disabilities. Getting to the beach was somewhat difficult. For younger people and families, it would be easier. Very nice week with good friends.

Pros: Stunning location & views. Quick walk to beach. Easy check in & check out process. Comfortable beds. Cons: Super awkward set up for sleeping. The kitchen is in the basement and feels cold & unwelcoming. Basement stayed FREEZING cold the entire stay. Hot tub accommodates 4 adults a comfortably. Not child friendly. All in all it was a nice stay. I would not recommend for families with small children or couples vacationing together. The price is a little much for what you actually get.

What a wonderful place to stay. It was clean and cozy. We read all of the reviews and just had no problems with cleanliness or cottage design. We couldn’t be happier. We highly recommend this cottage for a get away. The 1940 style just added to the ambiance. What a view!

Myself and 4 friend had a wonderful time at this property. The view is even better than the pictures. It was clean, comfy, and private. We loved it. Only thing to note is the downstairs gets really cold, but that’s easily addressed.

This property was beyond our expectations! The only thing I wish I could change would be the lack of heat in the downstairs bedrooms- they were both cold. Other than that it was perfect! Just what we needed for our New Years celebration!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Porthole. Everything was clean when we got there, the kitchen was stocked. There was lots of room for 8 people. We loved the view and the hot tub! I especially liked that the hot tub was covered. I really wanted to use the fireplace in the back but it was too wet, which means we will have to stay there again. When we got there the wind storm had knocked the recycling can down and there were some broken bottles in the grass area. The owner responded right away and got someone to clean them up the next morning. We definately plan to stay there again.

Relaxing environment with view of the ocean. Cozy home for family and friends. Was a great weekend getaway.

Pros - EXCELLENT view/proximity to beach Private setting Covered hot tub with view Cons - Driveway is tricky getting in and out No private bedrooms. Each room had 2-4 beds Kitchen is downstairs away from hangout area Overall Great stay, location and views are top notch. Pretty standard amenities. Small 4-person hot tub isn’t too accommodating, but being undercover was nice. There’s basically no cell service, and the internet wasn’t working. Couldn’t reach management to help fix. Would have been really bad in case of emergency. Would have been ice to have at least one room to yourself - each room had more than one, if not 3 beds each. Main burner on stove was backwards. Would stay again, but for the price hopefully they fix some of these things.

This house is a disintegrating hole. I wish VRBO allowed me to post photos so that you can see the reasons why you should absolutely avoid this place. Cobwebs, sticky, residue on bathroom floor, stained sheets, broken chairs, nasty old coal grill, the floors under the rugs are unfinished and dirty… it’s like they went out of their way to avoid cleaning it. Worst of all the owner contacted me and actually justified the nastiness by saying it’s unique lol!!! Please read my reviews of this place on google and the other popular vacation app. The owner finally said she felt sorry and would provide compensation due to the condition of the home then decided to back out so I’m having to contact my legal team to get her to stand by her words. You’ve been warned.

Prime location (alot to do inthe area) , cozy warm home, fantastic view, everything worked. Really relaxing stay.
