About this cottage rental
Nestled in Pennsylvania, this charming cottage for $120 per night is a great choice for your next vacation. Four season destination - find something unique each time you visit. We are a short drive to Fallingwater - Kentuck Knob - The Great Allegheny Passage - Ohiopyle State Park - Somerset, PA, Forbes State Forest, Mount Davis, Springs, PA and Grantsville, MD Build a campfire (firewood provided) --- watch the birds (different types of feeders invite a large variety of birds) --Fishing opportunities nearby. - Large covered deck provides rainy day use and mountain views. AND choose from dozens of old movies for a snuggle in. There is an HDMI cable for your lap top to connect to the flatscreen TV *Additional space has just been added. Living room is expanded and a separate cozy bedroom with barn door and dresser has been added to the original cottage space. Please see photos. ***This contemporary - cottage is located adjacent to our 65 acre homestead and surrounded by over 800 additional acres of undeveloped woodlands (hiking on these surrounding properties with prior permission only - they are posted by the owners as: Highland Land Assoc., LLC.) However, Forbes State Forest only 8 miles away. Activities are available nearby in Maryland and Somerset, PA and in other parts of the Laurel Highlands. This Woodland Cottage offers you the opportunity to experience life in the Appalachian Mountains in a very private setting. *****No wifi - please plan to use data on your cell as a "hotspot". The Verizon cell tower is visible from our property, and we do have good coverage however, we do encourage you to check your carriers' coverage area. Two adults only - queen bed. ***Let us know if you prefer to also use the daybed - there will be an additional $25 linen fee requested. Check or cash upon your arrival. And do note - this is a rural area - there are no streetlights. Consider bringing a flashlight. There is a light on the front porch. The cottage is within 10-yards of a mountain brook and on the edge of an 800 acre forest through which the Casselman River and Great Allegheny Passage flow. Occupants are serenaded by the sounds of forests bird, amphibians, tree crickets, howling coyotes, barking fox and babbling water. The elevated 10’ x 34’ deck overlooking forest and stream has a 10’ x 22’ section under roof allowing “outdoor” time even on rainy days. The Woodland Cottage has a fully equipped ready to cook kitchen, dining area with table and chairs, living room area with reading chairs and gas fireplace (in season Labor Day through Mother's Day weekend), den area currently with daybed and chairs by the gas fireplace can be easily turned for movie watching. The rental is for 2 adults. Bedroom with queen size pillow topped mattress, side tables and dresser. Living room has a daybed - twin. The cottage is ADA accessible and the bathroom has a large shower that is ADA compliant and a ADA compliant sink. (Please ask ahead of time for shower chair.) However, we do encourage you to send an inquiry with questions. Outside: large covered and open deck has a dining area, gas grill, comfortable chairs, dining table with chairs and benches from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend). There is a fire ring with wooden benches. Firewood for a campfire that will last several hours for each night of your stay is provided. Additional firewood is available for a reasonable fee. Two other rustic benches are placed in more secluded locations for solitude or private discussions. Heating and air conditioning are available year round as appropriate. Our gas grill is available on the covered back deck from Memorial Day weekend in May through Labor Day Weekend in Sept. -- Gas fireplace (Jodel) in living area from Labor Day Weekend in Sept. through Mother's Day Weekend in May. ***We currently do not charge and additional cleaning fee - many vacation rentals do. Our guests have consistently left the space as they found it and, we hope you will too! Please - no smoking inside. Sorry, no pets. Check in after 3 p.m. -- Check out by noon

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here. We wanted to get away to celebrate our anniversary, and couldn’t have chosen a nicer property that is wheelchair accessible. It was very nice to be without internet for a couple days and just focus on each other and nature. We especially loved the huge deck in the back, both of us love birds and there are a lot of them back there, we even saw an eagle! I am hoping to go back someday and venture out more!

We loved our stay here!! The cabin is wonderfully isolated, quite, and incredibly charming. Check in was easy, we had everything we needed during our stay (very well stocked kitchen), and the scenery was beautiful. Would definitely come again!

We really enjoyed our time at your cottage. We especially enjoyed sitting on the covered deck, because it was raining at times, watching the many birds that visited the bird feeders you had up. We even saw a woodpecker. The cottage is nicely decorated, clean and well stocked with supplies you may need. We would definitely like to visit again.

Was only about 20 minutes away. The deck was great place to relax, read, and watch the birds. It rained for some of our stay but because they had a covered deck we could still enjoy the outdoors and it was that much more relaxing to sit and listen to the rain.

Terrific location to visit Ohiopyle State Park, the Flight 93 Memorial, Falling Water, and Kentuck Knob. The cottage is well appointed and the elevated deck is a wonderful place to watch birds, chipmunks, and squirrels. Highly recommend.

The cottage was a great place to stay hunkered down In during a windstorm that came through Friday and Saturday.. many trees down .. but the cottage and especially back deck seeing all nature has to offer was a perfect place of solace to ride out the storm!

Cozy and private cabin with all the amenities we needed. It's a short drive to great cross country skiing and a wonderful place to come back and relax in next to the gas fireplace. We especially loved watching the birds visiting the feeders in the morning. This is one of the nicest VRBOs we have found - clean, welcoming, a real home-away-from home feeling. We really enjoyed our stay at this cabin. The cabin was very clean, with many amenities such as cooking essentials, board games, and plenty of DVDs. The setting in the woods is wonderful, very quiet and peaceful. We really enjoyed watching all the birds on the large covered deck. Also, the cabin was very close to the Great Allegheny Passage trail and all the outdoors activities in the Ohiopyle / Laurel Highlands area. We would love to stay here again!

Anniversary getaway
Such a comfy little retreat for a nice relaxing weekend. This was our second stay and we enjoyed it just as much as our first time. We will certainly be back for our 3rd anniversary and many more after that.

The cabin was a wonderful getaway! It was furnished with all you need and more. If you want too cook, the kitchen is fully furnished. Perfect back porch for watching the birds, relaxing and grilling. It was near the activities we had planned… Falling Water, Ohiopyle and we drove into Deep Creek MD

Fantastic weekend!
Stayed at the Woodland Cabin a few times. It's one of our favorite places to go. We like that it's close to the GAP trail and very quiet and secluded. Mona and Bryon are great hosts, always making sure the cabin is clean and well supplied. We enjoy sitting on the deck watching the birds at the feeders and lightening bugs come out in the evening. Sunsets and the trains in the valley. Going back in the fall to experience the season at the cabin.

Most Relaxing Place to Hang Your Hat
Mona and Bryon's Woodland Cottage is cozy, clean, and cute. It's a pretty open floor plan, with so many windows that you'll feel extra close to nature while bathing in the sunlight. Rain or shine, winter or summer, this remains my favorite place for a getaway (this was maybe my 7th visit?). Also, it is a perfectly quiet area.
The house is just up the road from a nice parking lot for the GAP trail and there are plenty of places close by for a great hike (like Mt. Davis). Lots to check out in this part of PA, though hanging out on deck with the birds makes it hard to leave the space!
