We are upcountry, so the climate is delightful and cooler than the hot coast. Do we need to rent a car? Yes. We can offer suggestions on car rental options. Best place to buy groceries? Takata Grocery and Kohala Grown in Hawi town offer some good food options. If you stay awhile, it is recommended to stop at Costo, Island Natural Foods, or other large grocery stores in Kona before you head to rural Hawi. What about Farmer's Markets? There is a Saturday Farmers Market in Hawi and two other great farmers' markets in Waimea. There is also a Wednesday Farmers Market in Waimea. Thrift Stores? YES, Great ones.
