Relax, enjoy the view, get away from it all at Cedar Lake, Nashua, IA!
About this bed and breakfast
Located in Iowa, this charming bed and breakfast for $120 per night is a fantastic option for your next trip. Nashua Lake House provides a great get away opportunity in small town northeast Iowa. We are open year-round. If you enjoy great views of the water while enjoying your morning coffee or perhaps a soothing evening glass of wine by the campfire, consider this three bedroom one bath home located in Nashua, Iowa on the shore of Cedar Lake. This listing is for the bottom floor duplex unit in a large two story house. Outdoors, a 45 x 32 foot patio block patio with ample seating and dining areas awaits you and offers one of the best views available on the lake. Watch the water come to life in the morning, the activity on the water during the day or the calmness of the evening by the fire. Adjacent to the patio (and attached to the lake side of the garage) is a 20 foot deep covered porch. Equipped with four ceiling fans, table and chairs for six and other wicker seating, this is a great place to get out of the sun and watch the world go by on the water, read a book, play a game of Scrabble, or take a nap. Inside, you will find three bedrooms equipped with a king and two queen beds (each made up and ready for your arrival), a jetted tub with a removable flexible shower head (linens provided), two 32' flatscreen SMART tvs, a fully equipped kitchen including dishwasher, beautiful hardwood floors and higher speed wireless internet. The property includes a smaller, cement dock and guests have reported catching good sized catfish and bass from the dock. It is 42 rather steep steps from the top of the property to the cement deck. There is a sturdy handrail but it is a bit of a climb. There are additional fishing locations nearby, including a popular spot near the dam. The property sits high above the water, which adds to the quality of the view but which also translates into a climb of 42 steps from the dock to the top of the bank. While the steps are steep (because of the vertical drop of the bank), a solid handrailing is in place. No smoking or pets are permitted in the house. Additional offstreet, hard surface parking is available in addition to the three parking spots located on a cement area between the house and the patio. PLEASE NOTE: We are not a property that allows party or events. The house offers: Central air/heat Above the stove microwave Coffee makers (drip and Keurig) Crockpot Patio furniture Charcoal grill(s)--usually there are three large Weber units available (you provide charcoal) Firepit Ice maker in full sized refrigerator Fully equipped kitchen with full size appliances Pots and pans Dining needs such as dishes, silverware, glassware Higher speed Wireless internet access Good selection of toys in the closet off of the living room Hardwood floors Bedding and towels provided Laundry facilities All on one level Adjacent to a small park Near public boat launches Near public swim areas As a heads up, the property does have a separate upstairs unit (no common areas) that is sometimes rented on a longer term basis to someone working in the area on a short term work assignment. We also personally maintain an apartment in the garage, which is a separate building, and which we occasionally use. While we typically are not present when guests are staying at the property, there is a chance that we could be or that we could stop at the property to pick something up from the apartment, etc.

We have stayed in this property many times in the past few years. It is an old house that needs a lot of TLC. It needs updates! It needs paint in and out. It is dark inside. Some lights don't work. There are old chairs sitting alongside the house that are junk. The DVD player does not play Blue Ray disks. The TV is a joke. All the electrical receptacles are a nightmare of wires and look like a fire hazard. The kitchen floor was sticky, The front door and entry are dirty and old and in need of help. For the price we paid this is a rip off. It should be at a much lower price. Thanks! P. S. Nice view of lake.

Please be aware- the owner "stays" in the garage/bungalow on the premises,(or uses it as an excuse to stop by) so it's much like staying with angry grandma- who has a strict curfew. Difficult to totally relax. The patio is by far the best feature, and the view is breathtakingly beautiful. But be aware, although there is enough seating for 20 or more people, she is very strict about only allowing 8 people on the patio. So it won't work for any sort of family or friend gathering. And she DOES check in, to make sure you are complying. We discovered that there are MANY places on the same lake with equal or even better views.
The Back door (which is the main entry door) only opens half way as it gets hung up on the warped floor. So, larger luggage will need to come in the front door. The kitchen is sparsely supplied and the drawers, original to the house, flop forward when you open them, making all the contents become disheveled. The supplies that are provided are in a hot mess, making it hard to find things, and difficult to actually cook there.
Also-There was a lovely centipede who resides in the tub, on a daily basis (in all fairness, it is an older house, so he might be original as well)

We were in town for a family reunion. This house was centrally located to where we were going. Everything was as described in the house. Owner was responsive. We would definitely stay here again.

Very comfortable home with beautiful lake property. We buried our mother in Nashua on Friday. We got together with some relatives on the patio for a meal, was a really nice day & perfect for us. We really enjoy watching the owls also, they were very entertaining!

Great old house with a great-grandma vibe. Comfortable living room furniture, great kitchen, and nice dining room. The beds are very comfy — the pillows were especially good. Very nice places to sit out by the lake. Love this place!

Place was very nice. View exceptional. House just my style (antiques)…. But. O response from host. I asked at reservation time if fees could be less due to the reason for being in Nashua. My 26 year old son passed away after a 3+ year health battle…. His celebration of life was Sunday.
No response
I could have gotten something complementary had I inquired with his friends but had already been charged

Great space for any size crowd
We got the space to get together with the whole family. 17 people with a wide age range, and we were never crowded with the large patio and deck. There was plenty of seating and the kids loved playing at the adjacent park. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to gather a large group or if you wanted a relaxing spot with just a few people.

We had to houses during our visit I must say I would recommend the other one far above this one. It is outdated and not very family friendly as well as alot of rules that tend to make you uncomfortable as a guest

Hidden gem
Enjoyed the patio space immensely. We took the option to rent the kayaks which was a very peaceful paddle in the lake. It is best to have a way to haul the kayaks to a boat ramp as the steps to the water from the patio would be difficult to navigate with heavy kayaks.

Great place for a big or small group
Enjoyed Father's Day weekend with some family that lives in the area and we had tons of space to relax by the water, play cards, and sit by the fire. Great place to stay!

Nice stay
I met a few girl friends for a night away (meeting halfway between our homes). The space was nice. We liked having a furnished kitchen, cozy dining room, and comfortable couches and beds. The upstairs neighbors were quite noisy at one point during the night though it was more due to the young age versus being a rude tenant. I thought the price was quite high for what we got during the winter months, but would consider this place definitely worth the cost in the summer and fall. Overall a nice place to be, but probably won't rent again for this price in the winter.

Nashua Lake House
Interior of this home is beautiful. Original woodwork, hardwood floors, terrific natural light, and a great view of Cedar Lake. The house is clean and spacious. Spent a lot of time playing board games from the game closet and sitting out on the patio while roasting marshmallows. Easy location to find, easy to get to. Our only complaint was the heavy footed long term renters upstairs. We would recommend.

We LOVED our time at this lake house! We’re nearing the end of the season but we happened to get lucky with good weather. We took out a couple kayaks (you pay $10 extra per kayak, cash/check) during the day. The steps down to the lake look much more intimidating than they actually are. They also mentioned that they are working on fixing up this area, so it may be nicer when you visit. We also found it’s easier to go down carrying kayaks than it is just walking down. Don’t be afraid of the stairs! I would recommend rinsing our the kayaks with the hose before you take them down as they are stored under a porch where bugs frequent. (Also, if you want to be a good traveler, please rinse them after use) There weren’t many people on the lake (Early September) which was ideal for us! I think we only saw one other boat! At night, we had a good time with the board game closet (and some of our own games from home). We played music on the tv in the living room and winded down with some drinks. Afterwards, I NEEDED to try out the jetted tub. It takes a tiny while to start, but I’m assuming that’s standard. It’s also quite loud (probably also just how they are), so be kind to your travelmates and don’t get in too late! It was amazing and really soothes my muscles after spending the day rowing. We all adored this VRBO and plan on staying again next year!

Perfect for a weekend get away or a long vacation
This. Place. Was. Amazing!!! Right on the water with a beautiful view. A large patio as well as a covered porch for any rainy days. It had everything you'd need, it was clean and large enough for the max amount of people to comfortably stay. The kitchen was fully stocked with every pan, appliance or tool you could need on vacation and while we didn't rent kayaks we brought some and had a great time kayaking for a day on the river and lake and went to a boat launch recommended by our host just north of the lake. It really was better than I had expected and more than I could have hoped for for my weekend away.

PERFECT STAY
This place is simply amazing. It was by far the best getaway for us so close to home. You name it it had it. It has every little thing you need to enjoy your stay from cooking utensils, toys, games, towels, kayaks if you'd like to use them, boat dock, and the list can go on. The town is so quiet and peaceful and the little ice cream shop down the street was a nice treat a few different days. Linda was great to work with and very sweet lady. We will be making this our summer getaway from now on! We also enjoyed getting to know the tenants upstairs! Very nice kind people! House was beatiful! THANK you Linda
