Great get away!!

I have struggled with whether or not I should send this review for a long time... but I finally decided the vrbo site should know what we encountered, because now I have decided that I can no longer trust your site to show me what I will truly encounter when I get to my rental. I have used this site before and had excellent rentals, and had only one other bad experience, but this bad experience has truly turned me against giving vrbo another chance. The rental was not what was pictured on the site, and was disgustingly dirty...not just dirty, but filthy !!!! The owner said that vrbo had approved a rental just before us that she missed, so she didn't contact the cleaning company to clean before we got there. However, the condition of the rental showed terrible neglect, because there had been no 'real' cleaning of the unit for probably many months. The condition of the rental was horrible. The air vent was completely covered with dirt, the ceiling fan had at least an inch of dirt on the blades, and there was even dirt on the ceiling above the fan. The windowsills were covered with dirt and cobwebs, and the couch was filthy ... I would not sit on it! The drawers were filled with sand and dirt, and the floor was filthy... I had to clean out the drawers to be able to use them, and sweep the floor just to be able to walk on it. The site showed a table and chairs on the porch ... I liked the idea of eating outside because it was such a small unit, but there was no table and chairs ! It was very apparent that dishes, silverware, etc was not cleaned so I washed every single thing before I used it... no dishwasher... and much to my dismay, we killed a big bug crawling in the utensil drawer. The sheets were not fresh... yukk... and just seeing all the dirt on everything made me very uncomfortable the entire trip. When I contacted the owner after I got home, she told me I should have called her upon my arrival, that she could have sent someone to clean it... but my thought was obviously no one cared if it was clean or it wouldn't have been in such condition. I cleaned things while I was there, and believe me, the entire place was much better when we left than it was when we arrived. But I did not clean the air vent, or the tall windowsills, and I would be willing to bet if I walked into that place today, it would still be in the same horrible condition. I was very disappointed and have decided that I will no longer use vrbo for our vacation rentals.

It was beautiful property. I did think it was a little closer to the beach. A few things were broken, so i took pictures and tried to email the property owner, as asked a few questions and she never got back to me!! (That was frustrating). Our water pipes did freeze, it would have been nice for a heads up to let the water drip!! As a heads up also, when the wind blows hard the whole cabana will move, it was freaky at first but you get use to it.

It was a nice get away for our honeymoon.

Overall for the price we paid and the location I can't complain much; for more than just 2 people it's too small for sure though. It has a sofa bed but the space is really too small to actually use that. The ad said there was a smart TV but no remote to access those functions of the TV, let the property manager know about this. We also had some minor inconveniences in our stay that they told us they'd resolve. Otherwise, trip was great.

Very good location. We had to cancel our reservation due to hurricane Ian but couldn’t get return of payment as date had passed for that but owner was gracious enough to let you reschedual for a later date. Unit was small but laid out well and comfortable and a very reasonable price. Had a crowd nest above with chairs and good view of ocean. Would stay there if we went back to same area

My daughter and I stayed this past week in One Particular Harbor for our annual Girls Trip and to celebrate my birthday! We have stayed at many of the other cabanas in the past, usually rented through the on site rental company but this was the first one through VRBO. I was surprised to have zero contact with the owner. Usually when I rent properties though VRBO the owners typically reach out immediately to at least thank you for booking their properties. I tried twice through messages and even attempted to call and left a voicemail and still nothing. That to me was unsettling and I wasn’t sure how the check in process would work and honestly questioned if the rental was legit. A day or two before we were set to arrive VRBO, not the owner, messaged me with the check in information and access code much to my relief. As I’ve said, we have stayed at the cabanas many times and I can say One Particular Harbor was great!!! The cabana was as clean as any beach property (private house or cabana) I’ve stayed in. It was clean but nothing exceptional. If you vacation at the beach often you know what I mean. The bed was very comfortable and was made up with linens however we never even undid the bed bc we always put a fitted sheet right over the top comforter and bring our own blankets and pillows. The sofa (a sleeper sofa which we never pulled out to use the sleeper so I’m not sure how comfortable that part was) was also comfy to sit on but it was covered in lint and hair etc so we also just covered it with a fitted sheet. The AC worked great, the appliances were in great working order. The decks were sturdy and felt safe with the exception of one raised, loose board on the steps leading up to the first deck. We just took extra care when going up. All of the cabanas are sitting Oceanside, basically oceanfront. The walk to the actual beach takes maybe 3-4 minutes and you do have a ocean view from the very top deck. I always highly recommend the Hatteras Cabanas bc they are affordable and great for 2-3 people. This particular cabana while nice isn’t exactly decorated as pretty as some of the others we’ve stayed in but it truly is one of our favorites now! We had a great week and I will definitely book and stay again!

It worked out fine for my stay but for the cost it would have been nice to have more room to put my things (I would not use the drawers under the bed). The only shelf in the bathroom was tilted out of the wall so things slid off it. The sofa was the only place to put luggage or on the bed (they should remove that blanket on the sofa as it was full of sand). Ants came if you anything in the trash so I had to get a Ziplock bag to put any food items in and back in the frig till time to take the trash. I love the location and that it was right on the beach. I enjoyed the showers and the water heated fast. I love the area under the cabana to keep your car in the shade. Everyone seemed to have a full water hose but the one at my unit was cut off to about 3' so I went and bought my own to use. It would also be nice (for the ladies) to have a mirror in the room somewhere, instead of just a small one over the sinks that you could only see your face in. Kitchen not equipped too well but I guess that was expected. (I used my own items I brought with me for the most part). I had noticed in previous comments about the carpet, but that was removed and a new floor was installed....which was nice. I did miss having a washer/dryer. I went to my son's rental not too far to wash clothes and towels. It was only me in the unit so I wondered how the unit next to me which had 2 adults and 2 kids made out. ha ha... that had to be tight.

Location is fabulous - being so close to the ocean at an affordable price. The perfect getaway for a couple.

Location was amazing, we absolutely loved and made use of the top and main decks. Property was clean upon arrival. Bring hand towels and dish towels/cloths a bath mat and some storage containers. Restaurants around the village were sporadically open/closed but Kat’s Cafe (11:30-3:00) across the street is perfect. We loved this beach too!

The carpet can use a cleaning and the return air vent is in desperate need of cleaning. Everything else was peaceful and relaxing. Just what we were looking for.

The tv remote didn’t work and there wasn’t an iron available. Nothing major. We did reach out to the owners when we arrived and never received a call back.
