Historic Ranch unrivaled for its views and location! Perfect for family reunions
About this cabin rental
With unobstructed 'Resort Map' views of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and the southern Teton range, Branchwater Ranch provides Winter and Summer visitors a rare opportunity to experience the rugged history of Jackson's Hole but with modern amenities. It's both old and new, remote and close by. Be forewarned - this is not the Four-Seasons. It's real ranch living - only with high-end linens and a hot-tub. Wide-open spaces, 4 distinct cabins, a large outdoor campfire ring with benches and several picnic tables make Branchwater the perfect place for everything from family reunions, housing for wedding guests, corporate retreats, and larger gatherings to a quiet retreat for family or friends. Access to the regions activities is unsurpassed. Winter visitors can nordic-ski on the property or drive the 3 miles to JHMR. Summer visitors can bring horses or access GTNP in under 5 miles. Either way, an evening soak in the hot-tub and/or songs by the roaring campfire, underneath a canopy of stars, will help you relax in preparation for the next day's adventures. The ranch is part of a 50 Acre family owned compound, established in the 1930s, that is surrounded by one of the largest working cattle ranches in the west on 3 sides, and the Snake River on the 4th. The property has been deeded to the Jackson Hole Land Trust, ensuring it remains an unspoiled and important historical landmark and a habitat for regional flora and fauna. It's not unusual to see Elk, Moose, Coyotes, White Tail Deer, a Bald Eagle, Owls and a working Cowboy or two all on the same day. Three of the four cabins started as hunting or hotel cabins that were moved onto the property in the 70's. (One, in fact, proudly displays a sign indicating it was once used by Teddy Roosevelt.) Each has since been added onto and fully renovated, creating 4 unique personalities. The latest renovations include expanding the smallest of cabins into a lovely one-bedroom hideaway, with private sitting room and office, and connecting it via a huge deck to the one 'built from the ground up' cabin on the property. The barn, corral and small riding arena were updated as well, so bring your horses. As for views, the huge porch on the 'Moose' cabin, the patriarch of the ranch, is where you'll want to sit each evening as the sun sets, cocktail in hand if you so choose, to watch the shadows play across the faces of Buck Mountain and the Grand Teton. If you've just finished skiing, the views from the Hot Tub on the aforementioned deck allow you to replay every run and plan your next day's activities. Ranch History: "Bearpaw Dude Ranch" was one of the early dude ranches in "Jackson's Hole", circa 1930, and was owned by John Huyler (prounounced high'-ler) of the Huyler Candy Company. The 'dude' part of the ranch is now in the National Park, mostly accessible from Granite Canyon trail-head but extending south into Poker Flats. The Rocking H Ranch, the entire 50 acre compound, was where they kept the horses. The Red Barn at the SE Corner of the compound, is original and is now a historic landmark. Every morning they'd run the horses from the Rocking H all the way over to the Bearpaw for the day's rides and then run them back in the evenings. Jack Huyler, John's son and a JH icon and writer of several books about the area, worked at the dude-ranch every summer and frequently invited his cousins and friends to come work with him. The family eventually sold the 'Bearpaw' to the Rockefellers and kept the Rocking H for themselves. After his dad passed away, Jack eventually sold ~10 acres each to two of his cousins and a best friend and kept 20 for himself. One of those cousins is the owner of Branchwater. The name 'Branchwater' originates from the early days when the owners first started visiting and, after a hard days work fixing up the cabins, would sit on the porch with a glass of bourbon (they're both native Tennesseans) and a splash of the water from the property, a drink they named "Bourbon and Branchwater". You'll notice that most of the cabins started off as old hunting or hotel cabins that were moved onto the property in the 70s. In fact, there's a sign in the main cabin noting that Teddy Roosevelt actually spent the night in the cabin back when it was a hunting cabin. All of the cabins have, of course, since been modified to be a little warmer and to incorporate modern day luxuries like indoor plumbing, internet and lights. Jack's books ("And That's the Way It Was in Jackson's Hole", and "Every Full Moon in August") can be found in the bookshelves of a couple of the cabins and purchased in town at the book store. Guests are encouraged to read them to learn the story of the property and cabins. A breakdown of the cabins is as follows... Moose, the largest has a master upstairs and queen bed downstairs. The master has its own full bath and the queen has a small full bath with shower. That bathroom is also used as the powder room for that cabin. So sleeps 4 total with room for an air mattress if needed. This cabin has a great covered porch with amazing views, two living rooms one with big TV and the largest kitchen of them all, and is considered the main cabin. W/D included Next cabin to the north is Deer- it has a split bath (sink and shower/bath in one pat and toilet in its own closet) and two bedrooms and a nice sitting room with appliances and a sink- a kitchenette. GREAT views again! One bedroom has a queen and the other bedroom can be made as a king or twins, you let us know before arrival. W/D included Next cabin north is Elk- also has two bedrooms, one with a queen and the other bedroom has bunk beds, and a full sized bed with trundle. Sleeps 4-5 kids ( so defiantly the kids room!) It has one full bath and large full kitchen. Large living room with large TV W/d included (second largest cabin) Next is little Coyote, small living area with large desk and with full bath (shower only) and one bedroom with a queen- good for the couple without kids or the grandparents- The town of Jackson is just 20 minutes, Teton Village 10 minutes and the entrance to Grand Teton National Park is 15 minutes away. The ranch is very close to everything but you feel as if you are completely removed in your own little slice of heaven! Branchwater Ranch is unlike any property you will ever see in Jackson Hole, completely unique with untouchable beauty, views, rich history, rustic charm and elegance.

We had our family-3 kids and spouses and 5 grandchildren and our dog! We loved the separate cabins! We would meet for meals either outside at picnic table or inside! Such a fabulous week w starting with coffee and balloon watching in the morning, the fabulous view of Teton range, fire pit for s'mores at night and a fabulous location! Go!!!

We had an amazing time at the ranch. It was just as described and the setting even more beautiful than the photos depict. Our family loved the peace and quite and the chance to escape from everything at such a fabulous location.

Description of property very accurate. We had family of 13. Grandparents to infant grandchildren. Plenty if room to gather for dinners and separate for privacy. Across the road from JHMR and Teton Village. Short 20 min drive to town of Jackson.

This was our second stay at the cabins and they have become one of my family's favorite places in the world. The view is spectacular and the cabin set up, far away from everyone, is a dream. Highly recommend. And Dolly is wonderful to work with, in terms of helping out for move-in and during your stay.

When we first read about this property, we thought it might be too good to be true. Imagine our delight when we arrived to discover the ranch is just as depicted on VRBO. It's so well done, and simply the perfect place for family to share.

If you are looking for a quiet ranch away from the crowds but close enough to everything you need, this is the place. The scenic views are incredible and atmosphere very peaceful. It was the perfect place to host our family reunion.
Dolly was a a great host, too.

Our family had an amazing time together in this beautiful place. The cabins were great - plenty of space and privacy for everyone (12 people). We hiked, rafted and visited the park - but the ranch itself was a highlight. So much lovely outdoor space for meals, campfire and gazing at the mountains. We loved it and would definitely go back. This is a special place.

We had a wonderful family Vacation. Fourteen of us from ages 1 to 65 had a fun, busy and relaxing time on the property. Plenty of room for the kids to run and play. The adults enjoyed the porch and the beautiful views. Great week.

Off the charts.....amazing
This is an historic property in the middle of Snake River Ranch. The four cabins are in a perfect location for Jackson Hole. Very close to Teton Village and Wilson, 15-20 minutes to Jackson, and 12 miles from Moose using the connector road. The setting is amazing with clear views of the ski slopes at the Village and Grand Teton views from Moose cabin porch. This is legitimate Jackson Hole living but with no neighbors other than the occasionally ranch hand you pass on the road. The fire pit was the main attraction at night and expect to see wildlife. We saw Bald Eagles fly over and land in nearby Cottonwood trees as well as a herd of Elk feeding in the distance, deer, prairie dogs, and lots of birds(take binoculars). I loved the evenings with the shadows on the Tetons and the cool dry air. Open your windows at night and let the mountain air in your room. The bedding is made for cool temperatures and of high quality, you won’t be disappointed. The property has a new hot tub, a couple of grills, new kitchens in Elk and Moose that are well stocked, new bathrooms, washer and dryers, and all the comforts of home. They are updated and very comfortable. Our family really enjoyed using the grills, cooking out for dinner, and eating and drinking outside. Our host Dolly was the best, very helpful and always available for questions. Can’t wait to come back and I highly recommend.

Truly INCREDIBLE
This was the most amazing stay! The views were outstanding, the cabin situation was the best. having a common cabin to meet in was great but having out own space was truly so wonderful. The cabins were so warm and cozy it was breath taking everywhere you looked. Even though it was cold, everyone felt like they were 'home'. We had everything we needed and more! Great location, great cabins, and Dolly was amazing to work with. I would highly recommend this to anyone! We will be back for sure! One of the best trips ever!

This property is prefect for, among many other things, a family reunion like ours. We had G'ma & G'pa and the three daughters along with all of their family members including a 3-year old great grand baby. The cabins were perfect with the multiple kitchens and a wide variety of common spaces both inside and out to enjoy our event - couldn't have been better. Oh... and did I mention the views! WOW! Also, kudos to Dolly... she's the best. Answered questions quickly and solved any issues we had immediately. We'd go back in a heartbeat. In fact... let me look at my calendar for next year...

Just Perfect
Branchwater Ranch is a unique and wonderful place. Our extended family stayed a week in July, 2021; each family had its own space plus plenty of room in the Moose cabin for everyone together. A beautiful setting, quiet and private, views of the Tetons, hot air balloons and para-gliders in the morning, a cowgirl herding cattle, a herd of elk outside the fence one evening, deer, marmots and more. Close to Grand Teton National Park, Teton Village with restaurants, shops and the Bridger tram, the town of Jackson, and the Snake River for rafting. The only hitch was a temporary local ban on open fires...no s’mores for us. The property manager, Dolly, was there when we arrived, was very accessible for a couple of questions, and helped with a dinner reservation. We sure hope to return.

We head the best vacation at the Branch Water Ranch! We had 6 children from a 18 month old to a 13 year old and 7 adults staying and there was so much to do and see! The most beautiful view you can imagine. Thank you Dolly and Mary Beth for all your help. You made our stay so easy and enjoyable. We will be planning another vacation in the near future at the same place! 5 Stars!!

What a fabulous place right in the shadow of The Tetons. From the porch we watched hot air balloons each morning, plenty of wildlife to enjoy. Convenient to fishing on the Snake River at the Wilson bridge park, this place has it all. All of the property manager’s recommendations from restaurants to rafting were excellent. Dolly was extremely helpful. Five stars plus!

Amazing week!
Branchwater Ranch cabins are such a special place! Our family of 13 (6 adults and 7 children aged 10 yrs to 6 months) fit just perfectly in the cabins. There is so much room for the kids to play (with outdoor toys provided!) and roam. Three mule deer visited us on several occasions and we loved watching them. The cabins are close to so many activities and yet far enough out that we felt virus-safe. Dolly is a joy to work with, and we had a wonderful vacation in Wyoming!

Magical Stay
We stayed here for a week with our family in mid June....what a wonderous and magical place. The cabins are rustic and authentic, but kept fresh and clean with all the luxurious conveniences one would expect from a high end rental property. The amount of open space and exposure to nature and wildlife was breathtaking, and we were constantly pinching ourselves at our good fortune to be staying at such a peaceful and idyllic property. The views are tremendous everywhere and the property manager, Dolly, was incredible helpful and responsive to all our questions and requests. I cannot recommend this property highly enough, we will be back!

Wonderful in every way
This was our second stay at Branchwater Ranch with a group of women looking for respite and restoration in the beauty of the Tetons, and once again it was the perfect setting. With its well-appointed western cabins, Branchwater is the ideal balance between luxury and rustic charm. The beds are comfortable, the bedding and towels are plush, and the kitchens are well stocked. Dolly is wonderful and helpful as property manager. The setting is stunning, nestled in an Aspen grove with a view of the Tetons. We loved the privacy, and everyone left feeling replenished and in awe of the beauty of the area!

Western Luxury in Mountain Picturebook
Amazing four home western complex of individual luxury log homes. Dolly might be the best, most helpful property manager we've encountered - and that makes a big difference in new environments. The property views of the Tetons were jaw dropping. The quick drive to Teton Village through the amazing cattle ranches were wonderful. Loved seeing the cowboys on horses with cattle dogs move the herds. Overall amazing. We've done many of these family vacas in various places and this was definitely one of the top two! Different level of wonderful.

Read all the positive reviews, and BELIEVE them!
Branchwater Ranch was beyond all expectations! Conveniently located close to Jackson, Teton Village, Teton & Yellowstone National Parks, yet it feels secluded and is totally private. Our extended family of 12, ages 6 months to 63 years, all had a fantastic time! We had plenty of room to gather together, and also the opportunity to go our separate ways with each little family unit in their own cabin. Dolly was wonderful, Immediately responding to any issue or question and making sure we had everything we needed. She recommended activities, tours, and restaurants, and all were terrific! We did private tours of Yellowstone, scenic river floats, rode the tram to the top of the mountain, shopped in Jackson (shops & beautiful galleries!) & attended the art fair in the park, and had lots of time to just enjoy each other’s company—especially while making s’mores around the fire in the evenings. You could not find a better place to enjoy family, friends, & breathtaking scenery! We loved every minute. (Oh, and while the cabins are rustic, they are COMFORTABLE, with great beds, linens, & kitchen supplies... You definitely won’t be “roughing it” here!)

Fantastic accommodations in a gorgeous setting
Our three generation family of 14, stayed at the ranch while in town for a daughter's wedding. We loved having separate cabins for our stay, combining that with a morning ritual of a hot breakfast in the main cabin and an evening campfire gathering. The cabins are well appointed and perfectly fit in the ranch setting. With the outstanding view of both meadow and mountain, immediate relaxation and awe are your companion. We are already talking about when we can return !

Wonderful accommodations for a family reunion!
Our 3-generation family (2 grandparents, 6 adult children, 5 grandkids) just returned from a most enjoyable week at Branchwater Ranch! The location is perfect--only minutes from Teton Village, yet back off the road with fabulous views of the mountains. The "Western atmosphere" is wonderful--4 nicely decorated log buildings (with very comfortable beds, fluffy towels, kitchens, washers and dryers, books, games, and everything one needs). The large kitchen in the main house is fully equipped and room for multiple cooks. We enjoyed cocktails on the porch and large deck, eating meals on the picnic tables, relaxing in the hot tub, playing corn hole toss and baseball in the large yard, and making s'mores around the campfire. Dottie gave us excellent recommendations for restaurants, grocery stores, and activities...river rafting, private tour to Yellowstone, gondola and tram, Snow King activities, parasailing, rodeo, and a private chef for a family celebration one evening. Branchwater Creek is 5 stars!

Great Family Vacation
This was a three generation family vacation, ages 17 months to 67 years, seven adults and three children. The Ranch's four cabins were perfect for us. We ate all of our dinners at the Moose (main) cabin as we spent the days on outings such as visiting Yellowstone, Grand Teton National Park, river rafting, fly fishing, taking the Tram to the top of the, mountain wine tasting at Jackson Hole Winery and so on. We spent the evenings around the fire pit enjoying wine and the fantastic views of the Teton Mountains. The cabins (I could live year round in two of them) are well equipped and provide privacy when the little ones wanted a nap. Dolly, the manager, was very helpful and a pleasure to work with. The history of the owners found in the Moose Cabin provided a very nice touch to being there. I would certainly recommend BranchWater Ranch for family or group vacations.
