What a wonderful place and great experience staying at Waimea Ohana Hale! The cottage had all the amenities of a home, instead of the usual limited accessories of a vacation rental; it was so easy for us to settle in! Rose Mae, the owner was very helpful and always communicated quickly. We enjoyed sitting in the sheltered lanai for morning coffee/tea and sun, reading, gazing at Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa, and listening to the birds. We also enjoyed watching the black cattle graze on the bright green hill at the back of the property as well as wandering the pleasant one-mile Ke Ala Kahawai O Waimea (aka, the Streamside Trail of Waimea), with one endpoint being only short, two-block stroll from the hale. We also took advantage of the location to explore the North Kohala region including its historic sites and beaches. We wish we could’ve stayed longer. We highly recommend Waimea Ohana Hale, a true home away from home.

All the conveniences of home near the heart of Waimea town. Just a short drive to the Farmer's Markets on Saturday and the local KTA Supermarket. If you like walking or hiking, you can go up Laelae Rd and take the scenic route into town. Just be aware of the elevation changes on the way. Also a short drive to the Koaia Tree Sanctuary and Koaia Corridor. Weather didn't cooperate with us on this trip, so we hope to return as time permits. Mahalo for letting us stay at your beautiful Hale, Rose Mae!

This home was perfect for our party of 4 with room to spare. The location was quiet but literally right in the middle of everything. We loved everything about it but the beds. It wouldn't have been a deal breaker for us but might have made us consider another option had we known how old and hard they were. A simple foam mattress topper could go a long way.

Nice spacious home, very comfortable for the four of us. Perfect location in Waimea - very close to town center, but set back off the road a bit. Easy drive to the beach. Kitchen and home were well appointed. Great communication from host. My mom (77 yo) especially enjoyed the charm of the house. Pleasant view from the back bedrooms, beautiful property.
