About this condo rental
Built toward the end of the 19th century, this one-bedroom, one and one half-bath property is as rich in history as it is charm. Once the home of Mrs. Wilkes, proprietress of the famous Boarding House and still-operational Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room, this parlor-level condo offers a unique stay for up to four Lucky guests. Wake up every morning to beautiful Jones Street, where cobblestones and ancient oak trees dripping in spanish moss compelled Southern Living Magazine to name it the “Prettiest Street in America.” The original hardwood floors and 12’ ceilings and tasteful interior decor make this home-away-from-home warm and inviting. The large living area has a flat screen TV and a queen-sized sleeper sofa. Pocket doors separate the parlor from the dining room, which has seating for four. The galley-style kitchen is fully equipped with all you’ll need for a weekend getaway or extended stay. The large, elegant bedroom has a king-sized bed with soft, luxurious bedding. The Wilkes House is an ideal location to call home while exploring the varied sights and activities around the Historic District. Located in the middle of our bustling Design District, stylish shops dot the streets among several historic homes open for touring, including the Mercer Williams House and the childhood home of Flannery O’Connor. With a three night or longer say, you’ll receive one free lunch for two at Mrs. Wilkes’ Dining Room, where you’ll dine like a local and feel like family! Location is what sells this property! We stayed here over Labor Day weekend. The area was surprisingly quiet. The property is above the famous Mrs Wilkes Dining Room so you might have large crowds of people standing in line right outside the home. We only experienced this on check-in day.
Pros- awesome location! Close walking distance to some restaurant/coffee shops, Forsyth park, and shops. You get a complimentary meal for two at Mrs Wilkes Dining Room. Food was delicious and we met some amazing folks! Check-in/out process was super easy. Spacious accommodations for the three of us (souse and 7yr old). Having two bathrooms was nice 😊
Cons: though the home was clean, it still has somewhat of an old musty smell to it. Just something to know before booking. The AC worked, but again old house tall ceilings so it doesn’t get super cool inside. If you are a light sleeper and someone with kids is staying above you, you will hear them lol. 11pm and they were running back and forth up there.
One other thing to add, it is all street parking with meters. Thought this would an issue on a holiday weekend, but we never had a problem parking right in front of the house. Meters are pretty cheap too for the days you do have to pay, and I highly recommend getting the parking app.

The location is great. We walked everywhere. Description accurate. The property is not as tidy as I would like. But I realize it is an old property. For instance the kitchen cupboard doors need cleaning. Washer and dryer worked well. Dishwasher door appeared to need repair. Customer service was good. The staff was helpful. I would recommend this property to others. We saw the Low house, the house where Gen Sherman stayed. The Public restaurant has really good food. Also The Collins is good food with 2 locations. See Forsythe park, Take a tour of the city on your first day.

This was our first visit to Savannah. We loved the city and its’ history. Mrs. Wilkes’ house was a perfect location on a beautiful street.

This has been a return stay at The Wilkes House. We had a couple with us that had never been to Savannah and we had a wonderful time. Visited River Street,went to Lighthouse at Tybee Island, Savannah carriage ride, Mercer House tour, Cathedral tour, Georgia Queen boat trip and of course our favorite was our lunch at the Wilkes Restaurant. The first time I ate at Wilkes (over 20 yrs ago), I was priviledged to have Mrs Wilkes personally sign our cookbook. It was exciting to see that Ryan (the grandson) has continued the family tradition. Our stay at the home was great. We walked a few blocks to Clary's evey morning and had breakfast. It is true, JONES ST, is the most beautiful street in America.

It was everything we hoped for! Convenient and within walking distance to shops, restaurants and parks. Free lunch offered at Mrs. Wilkes diner was an amazing perk and Lao worth the wait! The house had plenty of room, and 1 .5 baths, not to mention located in THE prettiest street in Savannah!!!

It was beautiful. 107 was gorgeous. It had everything one could want for a stay in Savannah. When you advised us to get a parking pass, that was good advice. It made parking easier. When we arrived to the door a nice young man helped us unlock and enter the building. Later we found out he was Mrs Wilkes great grandson. We also met Marcia and she asked how we liked the room and did I see her wedding picture. She signed my cookbook. It was so exciting going down the back stairs, then going through the kitchen where wonders were happening and joining the “regulars” for the most delicious lunch ever. In leaving we forgot to put the key back in the box which we mailed back but maybe an extra mention at checkout about the key like, “ Did you return the key to the lockbox?” Not sure if this would have helped this old couple though. I am recommending this experience to everyone I know who has Savannah on their bucket list. I even wrote a poem about it! Thanks again. Diane

On my last visit to Savannah I took a photo of a building on the most beautiful street I had ever seen. Imagine my surprise when, a year later, I discovered that we could actually stay here. The apartment is comfortable and nicely decorated. It feels like you are staying in a friend's home. The location is unbeatable.

The home was exactly as described. It was very cozy. There was a funky smell but we got use to it. The restaurant mouse from downstairs didn’t bother us at all. It was only open from 11 to 2 so we were gone the majority of the day. Parking wasn’t even a problem.

If you like slick minimalism, this is not your place. If you love all things old, it was the best parts of living in the past. We loved everything about this place with every day descending and assenting the beautiful stairs in this historic property. We truly hated to leave.

the pied a terre above Mrs. Wilkes house was the perfect lay-out and location for our work-from-home stay/play week in Savannah. The large, high ceilinged rooms helped us to spread out for conference calls when needed but felt homey and cozy when the work day ended. Super well-located in the heart of the historic district so we were able to walk everywhere and enjoy the beauty of Savannah

We had a great time in Savannah. We come every year around Christmas. This was a good vacation rental. Plenty of space for our family and we really enjoyed going to Wilkes for lunch.. this is definitely something we will do again. This location was a little further from the river than we like... probably 15-20 minute walk. Also, the sheets on the bed in the master bedroom did not fit the bed and would come off every time you laid down. This was super annoying. Otherwise this is a good rental.

We got off to an unusual start with a gas leak in our apartment and the building was evacuated. Six fire trucks were on the scene. The hot water was electric, but there was no heat because the gas was turned off until the gas company could come out the next day. Fortunately, the cold front had not come in yet. The owner came to the property as well as staff from Lucky Savannah, the management company. We were given a choice to stay until after the gas company came the next day and then make a decision, or they would give us a choice of other accommodations from which we could choose. We decided ti stay the night because all our luggage was there.. The part with the leak was replaced the next day. In the meantime management was prepared to move us to a property of our choice. We were given a gift basket and Mrs. Wilkes’ latest cookbook and we were treated extra special for our 57th anniversary-when we had our delicious free meal at Mrs. Wilkes’.

No need to spend hours looking for the perfect apartment and location when vacationing in Savannah. I've been several times, stayed in different apartments and locations, and Wilkes is by far the best. We were in the downstairs right apartment. No street noise whatsoever, but if the people in the apartment above are heavy footed, as were ours, it can be a tad irritating at times. For that reason, I will only stay in one of their top floor apartments from this point forward. Check-in was a breeze, wifi connection easy-peasy and no matter which way you head out, there's a cool restaurant on every other corner. The only negative, and I'm stretching here, but if I could wiggle my nose and make one thing better, I'd make the cushions on the living room sofa bed more comfortable. They need new foam inserts. Had to put the cushions from the neighboring chairs over the sofa cushions to be comfortable during long stretches of sofa sitting.

We absolutely loved our stay at this property! Such a charming street, and the home was beautifully decorated. It was very clean too. We were not aware that it was the same building as Mrs. Wilkes dining room, but a great perk was that we got lunch for both of us for free and we got to skip the line! The staff was very responsive and answered all of my questions quickly and courteously. Everything about this location was wonderful, I highly recommend it!

Everything went smoothly from the time the reservation was made until the actual trip and check in. The location was perfect! We walked to all our destinations, except Tybee Island. The place could be cleaner. Definitely needs a detail with dusting (ie: baseboards), wiping down doors, etc. The living room couch is toast and needs to be replaced. We loved eating at the Wilke’s Kitchen and the fact that it was complimentary with our stay. Delicious!!!

Accommodations were smelly like musty or moldy. Old building so??? Husband had allergies so this was not great. Everything was old meaning not period old with house but wore out old like sofa and linens that would not stay on matttess so we would not stay here again. Great location … restaurant was closed for the week so we did not enjoy the free meal or even the paid meal at Mrs. Wilkes restaurant. Space was good. Heard upstairs occupants quite a bit banging around at night but ok

Property located on the “prettiest street in Savannah” as it’s labeled, and that’s so true! Convenient walking distance to area with not to worry about driving car anywhere. The property was very nice. Comfortable bed, roomy living room and dining room, and quiet neighborhood. Will definitely stay again.

Our favorite place we have ever stayed! Place was beautiful, convenient to walk to the riverfront, easily accessible to the highway and the management was great. The included lunch downstairs was the icing on the cake . We would definitely recommend this place and stay here again.

Loved all of the space and the bonus of the extra half bath. Walking distance to everywhere we wanted to go. Needed an extra blanket and received it promptly. Nicely decorated.
