We booked this property for our two week stay during the 2024 Tucson Gem, Mineral, & Fossil Showcase. My wife and I were working at two different shows the first 9 days, then we hosted family and friends who had never been to the Tucson Showcase.
It was so nice to know our vehicle was secure each night. We brought a lot of prepared meals because we knew we would be too tired to do a lot of fancy cooking. The kitchen had everything we needed. The appliances are close to new. They also had just about every type of coffee maker you could want - how wonderful! The beds were great. Loved the almost instant hot water in the showers. Our only "negative" is the 21 stairs you have to climb up and down each day - but then we didn't feel too bad when the owner had the same complaint. LOL. It's so quiet and the views from the balcony are amazing. Wonderful place, will likely book here again.

My family wanted to get away from a large city and relax for a bit in the desert. We were lucky enough to find these guest house in Tucson. It is a very nice clean and furnished guest house above a large garage. The location is remote enough to have some peace and desert solitude, but yet, still close enough to all the interesting sites. It didn't take long to get to the places we wanted to visit (Oracle, Saguaro, Sabino, etc.) and be able to enjoy the peace and quiet of the desert. The balcony was very spacious and covered. We were able to spend time out there to rest and read and unwind. The house is wonderfully spacious for a family of 4. The kitchen was well stocked and had plenty for us to prepare our meals. The hosts, Steve and Susan, were very friendly and able to meet any requests we had. We would definitely stay here again if we are lucky enough to come back out this way.

Amazing Arizona
My husband and I had a fabulous trip hiking all over the Saguaro National Park, and this apartment and location made it perfect. Easy and quick access to West SNP, groceries, and Highway 10 to the larger community. Check-in and out was seamless; the accommodations were clean and abundant. Our trip was both active and relaxing. I highly recommend this spot if you are a couple or small group visiting Tucson. Thank you, Susan and Steve, for sharing your place!

A Truly Magnificent Place: Amazing Views & Connection to Natural Beauty
We really enjoyed our stay at this property and can't wait to go back! It's spacious, comfortable, well-stocked, etc. The deck is furnished with a high top table for four with cushions on the seats plus an outdoor seating area on sofas and chairs for perhaps 4-6 people. It's a great location. Near lots of conveniences and attractions and also near the incredible Sweetwater trail system for hiking and mtn biking. The hosts are wonderful...friendly, helpful, accommodating. They loaned us tools for the bikes, a cooler, and even received some mail on our behalf. But the best part about it is the "sense of place." It's surrounded by mostly open desert and it's elevated up off the ground so there are incredible views in all directions. In the morning you can sit with your coffee and watch the sky over the mountains in the east turn from black to red to orange to yellow and finally to blue. And then in the evening you can turn your chairs to the west and repeat the whole process while enjoying a drink at sunset. Plus the "alpenglow" at sunset time often illuminates the Catalina Mtns to the north in a breathtaking way. We love places where you feel that "connection to the rhythms of the earth" and this home certainly fits that description.

Warm, homey and the perfect location!
We love this property! It's perfect for us...close to great places to hike and mountain bike, yet downtown Tucson, museums, galleries, and restaurants are easily accessible. Steve and Susan are wonderful hosts. We hope to be able to return again next year!

Peaceful Guesthouse with Panoramic View!
We are very happy with our beautiful accommodations and highly recommend staying here. Clean, comfortable furnishings both inside and on the balcony, quiet surroundings and centrally located to Tucson parks and shopping. Steve is a friendly host and available for questions at any time. We are very grateful and we hope to be back another year!

Tucson Gem
This is our third stay at the Boyer Guesthouse while attending the Tucson Gem shows. What more can be said regarding our recommendation. From the secure garage parking to the spacious open layout of the living space coupled with Steve and Susan's preparation for each visit; this VRBO is exceptional. The second story guesthouse stretches the full length and width of four oversized garages. Stairs take you from the garage to the guesthouse. Always enjoy spotting the wildlife in the surrounding desert landscape from the raised covered patio. Unique and comfortable.

Everything was great, very clean and the little details were very well thought out. Only addition we would recommend would be a TV in the master bedroom.

Wonderful stay!
This is a very comfortable, clean, well located property with wonderful views. Our hosts Steve and Susan were very friendly and helpful. Only problem was the unseasonably cool, rainy (and snowy!) weather prevented us from enjoying the deck and other outdoor activities. Still, would recommend this property and we hope to return next year

Fantastic place to stay in Tuscon
We stayed at the Boyer guesthouse for the first 2 weeks of February 2019. The location was perfect for us - we were close to essentially all the things to see and do in the area but not right smack in the middle of town (especially since the Gem Show was going on and downtown was crowded). The guesthouse looks as if it could be new, it's so well kept. The decor is perfect for the area and the kitchen is very well equipped and has all the conveniences anyone would want. There is also a washer / dryer. Both bedrooms are good sized and the master bedroom has a marvelous and extremely comfortable bed. We did not get the opportunity to sit on the porch, as it was too cool in early February, but we did see some beautiful sunrises and sunsets.
Steve and Susan and marvelous hosts. We were given space in the garage with an opener, which was wonderful. Steve was prompt with help or suggestions whenever we asked. He suggested several restaurants for us and Susan suggested an attraction we had not already discovered. We spent each day travelling around the area and it was wonderful to come back at the end of the day to this private, lovely, quiet place - especially since the hosts had graciously provided a couple bottles of lovely wine.
Yes, there are 20 stairs that you have to go up to get there, but it's so nice it's worth it (this from a visitor with back trouble). And really, how many times are you going to go in and out when you have so many great things to do in the area and such a lovely home-away-from-home ? We are already considering a visit again next year.

Beautiful property with amazing views!
We spent a week in this beautiful, comfortable and CLEAN property. The unit was large and easily accommodated 4 adults. The kitchen was nicely equipped and had plenty of dishes, glasses and silverware. We thoroughly enjoyed the large, covered deck with the magnificent views - if you are up early enough, you can view the sunrise over the mountain and in the evenings enjoy the beautiful sunsets. The area is quiet and peaceful and we were fortunate to see jackrabbits and a coyote. If we are back in the area next year, we will definitely stay here again.

A Gem in the Desert
There were 4 of us staying at the rental and we were more than satisfied. The place is spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated. It is not walking distance to any sites or stores, this was no problem for us because we were not looking for a downtown location. It was peaceful and the full moon rising over the Catalina Mts. was spectacular. Can't wait to go back.

Great Property & Great Hosts
This was our second stay at Boyer and we thoroughly enjoyed it. A lovely, spacious guest apartment, a well-appointed kitchen and 'Oh, that bed'. The hosts, Steve and Susan, strike a perfect balance between accommodation and respect for guest's privacy. We've rented several homes during the Gem Shows and this property is a definite favorite. Lovely views and did I mention that bed? Perfect. Thanks, guys. Bill & Liz

What a wonderful property!!
Steve and Susan couldn't have been nicer hosts. They accommodated our late arrival, and welcomed us with a great bottle of wine! The apartment had a wonderful covered patio with comfy furnishings, perfect for late afternoon glass of wine and relaxation The unit was spacious and felt like home. The views of sunrise and sunsets from surrounding mountains were beautiful and we even saw a pack of wolves(?) and jackrabbits in the desert brush surrounding the property.
Our only issue was probably more of a VRBO issue - when we booked, the map showing location was incorrect, so we ended a bit further away than we expected. That being said, getting to downtown, hiking , supermarket and other activities was not inconvenient.

Wonderful home in a peaceful setting
Comfortable, warm and inviting home. We had a great stay. The balcony is large, plenty of seatig with excellent views of the mountains. Would stay there again in our next visit to Tucson.

This unit is most comfortable and convenient. It's like being in your own home.
This was a perfect property for our family of two grandparents, a daughter and son-in-law, and 18 month old grandson. The unit is beautiful and includes all the necessities. Steve and Susan were so kind as to provide both a high chair and crib for our grandson so we didn't have to lug one them along from Iowa. When I asked for a slow cooker, Susan was happy and most gracious to supply one. The unit provides beautiful evening views of the city, and the balcony is a pleasant place to wind down with drinks, appetizers and an outdoor meal after a full day of sight-seeing. The unit is conveniently located to the university and also to tourist attractions. The steps to the unit could be a problem for some people, especially in terms of moving in and moving out, but my 69 year-old artificial knees were able to negotiate the stairs on a daily basis with no trouble. I would highly recommend this unit to others and would not hesitate to go back. In fact, we hope to next year.

A jewel of a location for seeing the greater Tucson area!
Steve and Susan were wonderful hosts and they did everything within their control to make our stay a joy. Having access to a garage was an added benefit. One cannot overstate the value of the rental location in traveling to Oro Valley, Green Valley and even northeast Tucson (for golfers this was of immense value).
