The steep driveway gives a good workout daily. The No Outlet road the house sits on is perfect for walking and getting in some exercise. The house is beautiful. There were so many games for the kids to play. You can unwind every night in the hot tub. There is a family of deer that come out in the morning and evening and you can watch them eat. While sitting in the hot tub, looking up toward the top of the hill, we were lucky enough to see a mama bear and her two cubs. This is a great spot for the kids to watch different programs on television as there were ample tvs. The entire house is rustic feeling with the woodsy decor. It was a great week for me and my family!

Overall, great location to Wisp for skiing. Hot tub was excellent. House was clean. Downstairs beds not as comfortable as upstairs. Kitchen is a tight space with a group, but had ample supplies, including two crock pots. The biggest negative was the heating system. The downstairs main room was very drafty and cold, which could not be heated well without making the rest of the house sweltering. Be mindful that the driveway is very steep and we were glad to have 4WD.

We had a truly fantastic holiday stay at this home. It is beautifully appointed and the layout is spacious and inviting. With a little snow on the ground, this gorgeous log home was exactly what we wanted for Christmas! We found the location to be ideal, as well: very close to the restaurants, shopping, etc. We used the recreation center pass daily and loved the access to the fitness center and pools-a wonderful amenity, do take advantage of it!
A couple of issues we faced during our stay (which definitely did NOT outweigh the positives for us, we will return to this property!):
-Even with 4 wheel drive, we had real trouble navigating this driveway after a couple of inches snowed during an evening dinner outing. It is tricky! It'd be nice if more ice melt was available at the home to accommodate that. Or, plan to stay in during snowfall!
-Despite all of our attempts, online research, reading the instructions repeatedly, we were unable to successfully use either of the two fireplaces. This was really disappointing since it was a holiday trip and we were looking forward to it. The wood-burning stove clearly has an issue with its flue, hopefully this gets fixed.

We had a truly fantastic holiday stay at this home. It is beautifully appointed and the layout is spacious and inviting. With a little snow on the ground, this gorgeous log home was exactly what we wanted for Christmas! While the house is tempting to return to, I can't in good faith rent this house again without proof that the mattresses have been upgraded. We were all exhausted from terrible sleep, night after night. Some affordable memory foam mattresses or better quality mattresses would make this house the perfect Wisp/Deep Creek destination.

The kitchen was well-stocked, and we were able to cook all of our meals there. The hot tub appeared to be brand new and worked out great for our group. The wrap-around porch was great for drinking morning coffee and enjoying the beautiful view. The wood and bear décor throughout the house made us fall even more in love with Bear Necessity! Our extended family got together for a belated Thanksgiving Celebration. We had a fantastic time! First of all, the home was spacious. Everyone appreciated having their own bathrooms 4 bedroom, 4 full bathrooms and 1/2 bath off the main hall. 7 adults and 2 dogs had room to spread out. We enjoyed playing ping pong, watching a special movie and cooking our Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings. The kitchen had every utensil that we needed. The dining area was spacious and comfortable. The deck provided a sunny spot for our morning coffee! The younger adults enjoyed the hot tub. This is a lovely location for a family gathering! The staff at Taylor Made were very helpful, answering any questions we had during the reservation and pre-arrival planning!

The place we stayed had so many beautiful little wood carved pieces throughout and it was one of the best places we stayed in deep creek lake . So we went as a group of late twenties and thirty somethings, no kids, and two dogs, looking for more of a getaway "staycation" vacation. The house was more than what we expected from the pictures. It was amazing to have a bathroom in each bedroom since it was a group of friends, and not families. Plenty of space in the common areas to all be together, and also enough room for all of us to have alone time and not be on top of each other. Loved the main floor deck for morning coffee and able to have the dogs with us in an enclosed space (also a plus the house came with 1 dog crate for when we ran out to the grocery store). The ping-pong table was a huge hit and had competitions throughout the week. We are planning on coming back to Deep Creek within the year and would definitely stay in Bear Necessity again!

It was beautiful weather and we rented two boats for the week. Wonderful! The house was beautiful and was well stocked with proper plates and cooking utensils. The only downside was the driveway because it is such a steep grade. Very hard to walk up and even get out of the car.

We stayed in the summer and enjoyed the house and area. House very nice and clean but there were a few issues. Very hard to keep all three levels comfortable with the air conditioning. The basement is freezing and the top floor is hot. Hard to get to the lake, no easy access. It was described as close and easy walk, which is not true.

Great experience. Great home. Perfect for our family. The only issue was a constant ant problem in the upper level master bedroom. Eventually no one would use the room due to the amount of ants. Otherwise though, a great rental, but the ants need to be addressed. We were killing 40 to 50 a day.

One of our Christmas gifts to our grown children is a Winter Get Away Weekend. This year we decided on Deep Creek as our destination. Booked Bear Necessity Rental hoping that it would meet all of our expectations. The rental was great. It was very clean, well-stocked, had a pool table and Ping-Pong table and games to play. And of course, a HOT TUB. Not sure what the weather would bring since Winter 2016-2017 has been very unpredictable. When we made the reservation, we thought that we might need "summer activities" to fill our time. But we were wrong!!! Started snowing that Thursday and the family enjoyed great skiing on Saturday. They also enjoyed sitting in the hot tub with the snow falling!!! The kids departed for home on Sunday evening for work commitments, but my husband and I, both retired, stayed until Monday morning. Much to our surprise, an additional 8" of snow fell that evening. What a beautiful sight!!! I was pleased that the rental agency had plowed the steep entrance to the rental one of the days that we were there. Worried about getting off the hill on Monday, but we did not have any trouble. Thoroughly enjoyed our weekend - loved being with the family sharing time and just relaxing!! The amenities of the rental made it easy to relax and have fun!!!

We were not happy with the condition of the house or its cleanliness. The house we stayed in last year was immaculate and this was dusty, moldy, and unkempt. The mouse running around the kitchen mostly ruined the trip for my wife and kids. They didn't want it killed but didn't want it in our food either so once it showed itself it was hard to undo the damage. The other major problem was the temperature control. The fireplace downstairs wouldn't stay on and the downstairs remained freezing when the upstairs was comfortable. If we raised the heat to make it comfortable downstairs, the upstairs was roasting. Other than those issues the location, hot tub, recreation tables, entertainment, were very nice. I'm not sure we would rent again from Taylor made though. I would guess about 50/50

Our first time to the area and everything was wonderful. When you pick a place after viewing on the internet you don't always get what you think but that was not true for Bear Necessity. It far exceeded our expectations and was perfect for the 8 of us. The location was great because we prefer away from all the activities and quieter area. We appreciated all the recommendations we received and the Taylor Made staff were very friendly. We did a boat rental, went to Lavender Farm, used the beach and discovery center at the Deep Creek Park, hiked the swallow falls park, shopped, smileys and attended the Friendsville Fiddle and Banjo Contest. We did not eat at any local restaurants. We have already recommended the Deep Creek area to friends.
