This house needs a maintenance overhaul. Lots of things didn’t work. Bbq, oven, the lights. The number of times I was asked to Just Go To The Breaker Box…we can laugh about it. Now.
You can’t get to the hot tub in the winter unless you can climb through the dozen feet of snow, like a little ice goat, which they fail to tell you.
Lots of other warnings posted all over the house with long lists of consequences for breaking them. Like do this or this or this and the police will be called or a giant fine. Kind of unfun. Kind of a fun killer.
2 parking spots in a house that sleeps 14 is goofy as heck. Unless you have two church vans then I guess it’s cool.
The number of beds was nice with firm, comfy mattresses.
Our groups takeaway: there are many houses up on the mountain, pick a different one.

We have returned to Big Bear because of its great location. #1) the Wifi has improved, yea! (#2) the clearing of paths to the door has not :( The parking spaces were plowed, but the path to the entrance was an icy disaster area. The folks staying in little bear had it even worse- but they had brought their own shovels, and helped us clear a path to the door of Big Bear- thank you! This is a real safety issue. The house itself was great. The heater in the front lower bedroom was broken, but vacasa was very responsive, and a maintenance guy came on day two and managed to fix half of it. Hot tub was off when we arrived, but warmed up nicely. Overall a very nice home, just needs to have reliable shoveling service!

Everything was perfect from the second we arrived until we left! The cabin was loaded with extras from games to kitchen utensils. There is a huge table that was perfect for our large family to gather and play games. And to top it off, it is conveniently located within walking distances to our favorite Government Camp restaurants!

There were a few issues with our stay. The batteries in the remote for the TV were out and no replacements. We had to go out and buy our own batteries. There was no laundry detergent to clean towels, so we had to go out and buy our own as well.
Internet was down the entire time, tried basic troubleshooting on equipment, but that did not fix it. I called Vacasa team and they said a maintenance employee would call and come out to take a look. Maintenance never called nor came out to the property to look things over.

The house was honestly good. It had everything we needed kitchen wise, wifi, blankets. The only thing we had issues with was it looked like housekeeping wasn’t too great of a job with cleaning. There were goldfish underneath the couches and what looked like dried batter on the knobs of the kitchen drawers. The other thing which we were really looking forward to was the hot tub. The water looked green and it was slimy, even after we added the cleaning stuff for it. The beds weren’t the most comfortable and some of the steps from the stairs seemed loose. Kind of sketch.

Beautiful Log Home
The house really is a beautiful log house with lots a interesting decor. We had some complications during our visit but Vacasa responded well and did the right thing.
We would recommend this home.

Awesome Location and Amenities
The house was in awesome condition when we showed up. There were plenty of dishes, pots, and pans for cooking even for a big group. I would highly recommend taking the bus from government camp up to Timberline and skiing down the Glade Trail at the end of the day. It brings you right back to the doorstep of the house.

I was really hoping to have a great experience but that just wasn't the case. This was our first time renting from Vacasa and we were disappointed. We normally do Airbnb or VRBO. There were things that we liked about the property but that has been unfortunately over shadowed by the negatives. We had 10 people in our party that was from 4 families.
Pros: Large dinning room table that we were all able to eat at together. 4 Large bedrooms with space for little ones. Dog friendly. Abundance of dishes, bowels and utensils. Lots of extra blankets and towels.
Cons: House is seriously lacking in the maintenance department to the point where it is dangerous. All of the stair railings are very loose and wobbly making it completely unsafe. The wood steps from the 2nd floor to the 3rd floor were wobbly as well which causes several of us to slip. The downstairs shower glass door pulling away from the shower stall with exposed screws sticking out. Couches are falling apart and there is stuffing just hanging out. The support is also gone is some of them so its like sitting on the floor. The jets were not operational on the hot tub.
Vacasa Frustrations: Staff was not helpful. Check in time is 4pm. We got a call after we had already left and were told that we could not check in till 5pm. I asked if we could check out at 11am instead of 10am since our vacation was being cut an hour short for time that we paid to be there and for the inconvenience. We were met with a giant NO and no other alternative solutions to compensate us for the inconvenience of having to hang out in the car for an extra hour while waiting for the house to be ready with 3 children 3 and under. I had read past reviews and people had commented on the lack of maintenance but it has obviously not been a priority because things have not been fixed.

Great location, large and spacious. Dated and needs repairs.
Overpriced and under-maintained
With a few bucks and some effort to clean and maintain the property this would be a fun vacation house
This property was probably a family's pride-and-joy, once upon a time. As a short-term rental, the state of disrepair - some of which include serious safety concerns - makes it one I may not visit again.
There are so many obvious little repairs and non-working things here that have been ignored for a long time! Too many to list them all... I did make a few notes though:
- wifi wasn't working 3 of 5 days we stayed here
- light bulbs out in kitchen, bedroom, hallway
- stained shower towels
- BBQ had been moved to another property, had to move it back ourselves
- Broken switch plates, outlet covers
- Overloaded outlet at TV looked like a scene from "A Christmas Story"
- nonfunctional bedside lamp (broken switch on the lamp)
- no heat in one of the downstairs bedrooms
- The Dish Network bill hasn't been paid, or the equipment was malfunctioning ("not authorized for service, please call Dish...")
- unreliable wifi made streaming impossible as a satellite TV fallback plan...
- The staircase hand railings are in poor shape, inside and outside (safety issues).
- Outside, the "parking fence" has been loosened to the point of being a hazard to grab... it may cause you to loose your footing, especially since it doubles as a hand rail when approaching the main entry. Icy conditions necessitate a hand rail or something else to hold onto.
- Inside, the staircase railing from the main floor to the upstairs bedroom and hallway/landing is wobbly and does not appear very strong. Shoddy repairs seem to have been made. Feels like an adult could lean on the railing and cause it to break loose, potentially inuring or killing someone on the process.
- Gaps in wall corners, spider webs with spiders, insufficient lighting in the kitchen, burnt out bulbs in the ceiling and over the stove, no lighting over the kitchen sink
I called Vacasa when we arrived, ZERO FOLLOW UP from maintenance even though Vacasa promised to dispatch someone
- The beds are cheap and somewhat uncomfortable
- The bed covers haven’t been cleaned in awhile (sheets seemed clean, but who really knows?)

Only two parking spaces for a property that sleeps more than 10 is inconvenient, and the wifi/cable tv was non-existent, but other than that, this was a great home. The rooms were spacious and comfortable- plenty of space for everyone and all their stuff. The kitchen was incredibly well stocked with pots, pans, dishes, glasses, utensils, etc. The beds were plentiful and comfortable. We could all easily fit at the dining table and there was plenty of space and storage space in the kitchen. Nice quiet location.

Plenty of space for a family of 15. Well stocked kitchen but ran out of paper towels, garbage bags, and dishwasher soap. Wi-Fi was a little weak for the number of devices we had going. With a limit of only 2 cars for parking at the cabin we were expecting it to be more of a hassle than it actually was. It really is only 5-10 minute walk to GC so parking was ok. Very close to snow trails for youngsters to play on. Loved the big dining room table (it’s been a while since we could all sit at one table for dinner). Living area was equipped with plenty of comfortable furniture.

Beautiful Spacious House, Needs Some Improvements
This house is large and spacious, especially for a large group. The entry way is convenient for removing any winter gear and has plenty of room to store shoes and hang coats. We enjoyed our time there with a few exceptions. The stairs are slippery when just wearing your socks. The staircase to the top floor feels unstable. The banister was wobbly and would not support if someone had fallen. The linens were clean, but it needs some thorough cleaning in the rooms. One of the nightstands had a dirty pair of underwear in the drawer. The decor is quaint, but very dusty. The kitchen is well supplied with everything needed to cook and plenty of dishes, but we did have to wash quite a few of the pans. The kitchen garbage had some nasty food in the bottom, under the liner, that had to be rinsed and wiped out to get rid of the odor. The twin beds are more like cots and not comfortable for adults. The heater in the downstairs bedroom (closest to the front entry) did not work. We will not be staying in this house again.

The cabin comfortably accommodated our party of 14. The kiddos loved having their own upstairs space and the adults all had fun in the main area. The hot tub was clean, well maintained and private, the kitchen was well stocked, and overall the cabin was clean. It's was an easy walk to town and the Glide Trail is right outside the front door.
Two parking spaces for a cabin that sleeps 16 was a challenge but we figured it out. The bottom drawer of the dishwasher was also broken. But overall, we had a great vacation at the Big Bear and we hope to stay here again.

The house was huge with tons of beds for our large family. The house was in a great location and beautifully decorated They allowed dogs, which we appreciated.
The morning after we arrived our adult daughter found fine glass on the floor and spread on the table and chair in their room. No large shards, it a lot of fine glass. Cleaning it up, she put the broom under the bed and came out with a pile of dirt and debris, including candy pieces and crackers.
We contacted vacasa who responded quickly, and also heard from the owner via email . They offered to refund some of the cleaning fee or send a cleaner. My daughter had already cleaned it, so we asked for a refund.
We’ll see what happens, but haven’t been notified of any refund at this point. And we paid over $2400. For two nights, over $900 of which were unexpected fees.
The place is great, but quite expensive for cavalier cleaning.

This cabin is in a great location, walkable to down town Govie. There was plenty of space to spread out with 8 adults, 3 kids and 4 dogs. The only down sides were that the fees quickly added up (hot tub fee, owner fee, 3 different taxes) and once booked we there were a lot of warnings about the next door neighbor calling the police if there was excessive noise or if you were parked in the wrong spot. It seemed the neighbor was gone the weekend we were there, but it always felt like a looming threat which put a damper on things. There was also an excessive amount of trash (beer cans, solo cups, underwear...) in the back yard near the hot tub which was a bummer. We picked up a lot of the trash so we could enjoy it, but it wasn't exactly how we wanted to spend our weekend, especially after paying hundreds for cleaning fees. The interior of the house was fairly clean, though we did find a cache of crayons under the couch and a couple missing stuffed in its cushions. The railing going up to the 3rd floor could also use some tightening. Overall, a nice little spot, but could use a few improvements to make it worth all the extra money.

Our large group very much enjoyed our stay! Only problem we accrued is we could only get one curtain to open up. But we were at the mountain during the day so it wasn’t a big deal!

Nice cabin great for large family
Plenty of room to sleep and relax in this cabin. Comfy couches and large table for family meals and games. The railing to the upper bedroom should be tightened up as it is t completely sturdy. The house says it has satellite/cable but in reality no local (abc, nbc, cbs or fox) stations available and sports very limited so no football if you were planning to catch a game. The hot tub is shared which wasn’t a problem for us but the walls are thin and you can hear conversations really easily. The location was convenient for skiing and playing in the snow and they did have a few sleds in the shed. The kitchen was fairly well stocked with what you’d expect to find. Rooms were spacious and beds comfortable.

Family fun log cabin
Great log rustic cabin lots of sleeping beds and options. Love the set up of long dining table, all the recliners were very comfortable. Plenty of dishes and kitchen utensils available. The parking was for only 2 cars so not a great set up since the cabin sleeps 18. And we didn’t realize the hot tub was a shared hot tub.

The kitchen isn’t as big as it looks in the pictures. Same with the back yard. Not a lot of room. The cabins were kind of on top of each other. Over all stay was good. The master bedroom bed squeaks and is hard.
